This is where I would have just tried to find a local retailer near the winner and pay for it, or find some place in country to order and ship to him. Would have ended up costing less.
I sell on eBay sometimes, I had an item listed as USA sales only, of Couse a guy in Australia won the bid, he wanted the item so bad he said he would pay whatever the shipping was. UPS wanted $600, US Postal wanted $300, the guy paid the $300, he was a man of his word, it took a month to get there and he emailed me he got it and it was great.
No more giveaways!? 😮
Yeah, the American Postal Service is the exact same way. I lost $350.00 money order for child support in the mail back before you could transfer from bank apps to someone else's account. Just ridiculous. Also, I had a person steal a brand new oculus quest 2 but when I contacted the postal service they didn't want to investigate it. That was an expensive christmas because I had to buy another one and ship it all over again lol. Postal services are just terrible.
No act of kindness ever goes unpunished.
While working out of town I purchased a new Usa Fender Strat. Instead of dealing with the hassle of flying home with it, I shipped it to my home address. I bought a nice flight case and put it in a double spaced cardboard box lined with foam and dropped it off to FedEx. I then flew home and waited for a couple of days to for it to show up. When it got to my house it literally had tire tracks across the cardboard/broken flight case etc. They actually told me when I tried to make a claim that they didn't do it!?
This was wonderful!
