Agree with some other comments here - 22g is WAY too beefy for an MTL RTA. Try 10 wraps of 28g N80 (2.4mm coil ID). Comes in at ~1.0 ohms and should give a *much* better experience run between 10-15 W. Also, when securing your lead, you can run it under the screw and then at a 90-degree angle across the far side of the screw and under the 'overhang' of the post, then tighten and clip - this should completely avoid the issue of a potential short. Totally agree about the bottom threaded portion looking like a nightmare to deal with.
Hey, man. You got me into Kayfun tanks back in the day! I love love LOVED my 2019 Kayfun lite (still run it daily actually) and the one time we met (in Chicago at SWC), I brought you a clear dome cap for your 2019. The Kayfun truly is something special imo. I'm sorry you're not having a great experience with your KFBoro, that's a real bummer. I'm currently running a two 28g core 40g wrapped clapton in mine after using 26g round wire and the difference is night and day. It was a little bit of a pain in the ass to get in there, but it's been working like a charm since. I've been waiting for your review on this one, so thank you for the vid! Your opinion always means the world to me on vapes. Keep up the great work, my guy!
Tips: 1. Bend your wire around the screw and out the side under the hook, then trim it. All the room in the world. 2. Use a rubber band for extra grip to get the adapter off the build device. No need for tools. Definitely easier things to build, but you are making your life more difficult than it needs to be. The amount of cotton is not forgiving, needs to be just right. Kayfun is one of the most stable attys for TV (because I am insane and hate myself like that)
So, for mtl boro my go-to is a kanthal Clapton 28g wrapped in 40g, anywhere from 1.0 to 1.25 ohm. Also, to avoid clipping leads, I wrap them around the post of the screw (so the lead is pointing back towards the coil) and do the bend back and forth till it breaks off trick. They get good contact with the screw and don't have the ability to short against anything.
The way I make it work is I tighten the screws with both leads hanging out, then loosen one screw while holding the coil in place. I wrap the lead around the screw (still holding coil in place) and pull it tight. Then tighten the screw down. Repeat for other lead. Making sure it bends at where the lead come out of the screw, just keep bending it and it'll break off at the connection. Even the 40g breaks off fine, though sometimes I'll have to pull some of the wraps until it gets to the point where the screw is holding it in place.
Try Nichrome 80 27awg for MTL builds. My thinking is that you are using Zero Flavour Kanthal and using direct lung wire and I believe it makes a difference.
Thanks as always for the review, was thinking about grabbing this one but it looks like a pass for me. Also, editor Nick looking sharp in that chessboxin Dixon! Mine arrived yesterday😉
Don't feel bad Nick, I bought one of these. I thought this was going to be a killer mtl. It looks great in a tank. But no matter what i have done i have the exact same issue as you. I have tried build after build. I have changed hight, wire, cotton anything you can think of. No matter what I do it is just NOT GOOD AT ALL😢😢 I wouldn't even call it a mid. Now i have cleaned it up and put it on the collectors shelf. Any vape device that has sentimental value, monetary value, or can be considered a collectable ends up on the shelf. I will not sell it to anyone because I would feel awful for doing that to someone who expected much much better out of the device. I however find I do like it as a collectable piece. So at least I have found value with it. Thanks for sharing Nick. Hey not sure if it'll help you or not, but take that air pin completely out of the bridge. It helped quite a bit for me, but didn't make it great. Give it a go, I hope taking out that adjustable air pin out helps you.

Also wrap your coil leads the correct way around the screw. With the direction of tightening the screw, not against it and you’ll have a loop around the screw shaft that you won’t have to worry about your leads touching the bell.
Kayfun gives its best with a coil of 28ga kanthal wire, 2.5 diameter, 4 spaced turns, the result resistance will be around 1 ohm. And the wattage should be something from 8w up to 11w. Yeah, i agree with the consensus of the comments here. I think you're from the old school where 22-24 G round wire is good fpr MTL. But i think that is the main issue you have with almost all of your MTL rebuildable gear. Gotta undo a wrap or 2 because the coils are thick thick, but it works great. Youve been one of the first VapeTubers ive seen and you were the one that actually got me into the rebuildable scene. But man, youre missing the mark on a lot of MTL rebuildable gear recently. for me, pod systems always produce too much sweetness in the flavour. however, i think that many people tend to prefer precisely this sweetness, which is why people who switch to rta systems are often disappointed.
And May I give an Optional trick as a kayfun user? :-) The trick: for zero leakage and better taste you can make auxiliary wick, how? just make a thin string of your wicking cotton, then pass that string through the holes of the cotton well, how? insert it from outside and bull it inside through hole, then insert it through the neighbor hole and bull it outside until it became tight, then cut the outer pieces of that string leaving only 2 millimeters in both ends. I fit a 2.5mm 3x32 core fused clapton on it fine. Maybe get some fused clapton spools to make your own so you can make a coil that fits. Also try the different top caps. They make a difference for me.
100% agree on the unnecessary fiddling and the adapter can piss right off. I did manage to get other coils in it aside from just round wire. Long story short though it does feel like a 9 year old rba just got released
You're using 22g on an mtl device, & wondering why you're not getting good flavor. I'd put a pioneer mtl rta with the right build up against any pod. C'mon Grimm
Nick, the reason you are not getting good flavor might be that you are vaping on .2 ohn 22g coils. Please try 28g ss or 26g ka1. The ohms are too low for mtl.
I agree that rebuildable MTL devices do not compare to pods when it comes to flavor. Unless, of course, it's an Atmizoo Tripod 2. The Tripod 2 is in a class of it's own. Absolutely worth the high price. I like it so much I bought 2.
I haven't ginjoyed this one as much either to be honest. I haven't had the problems with the adaptor that you have but that airflow, it seems like a good idea. But, I hate that I have to spend forever fiddling with it to try and find the sweet spot. There are 2 other top caps that you can get for it (separately of course) that work better for different flavour profiles. Which, if I'm honest, pisses me off. Why not just (for the price your paying) include the whole set? I have managed to fit micro aliens and fused claptons in mine which does help with the flavour a bit but only a fraction. It sucks because it is a slick looking brba and the price is not worth the hassle that comes with it. It's fine. Yeah. #youknowwhereitgoes
Don't get me wrong, I still love my xros 3 mini, but it felt like I'm missing some depth. The flavor is pretty good for me. But it felt like i'm eating something that came out of a fast food restaurant where the rebuildable feld like a homemade food where I can feel the amount of time and care put into it.
Same feeling here. I have LOVED Svoemesto for all my MTL RTAs. Loved. But damn even the ether set up with 24g standard wire and the 2nd smallest pin is killing my Kayfun stuff for flavor and the Ether isn't exactly ranted and raved about. I find myself mostly using a Shift Boro with Vaporesso coils and the Xros system. Boro for rdl and xros for mtl and rdl depending on unit and pods. These new 0.4 with the pro make Freebase fucking awesome in it as well.
0.21 ohm? pfff... Nick, standard vandy vape superfine mtl fused clapton 0.74 5-6 wraps ID 2.5 mm fits perfectly fine in there - the flavour is bang on - better then KFL+ or KFX... Do smthng right, godammit... 0.21 ohm for MTL... Get out of here....

raund wire 26GA - 30GA ,, my favourite iz 27or 28 Ga ,, i can get Fused 32x32+40 but flavor is better whit round wire. Cotton depending of liquids but 50/50 dont fluff bzc it which fast . Airflow is the best same as Kayfun X, and previous RTAs so when you find your sweet spot your fine .
A 0.2 Ohm MTL? I would have loved to have seen a higher gauge higher resistance buld. However, that 510 adaptor would have pissed me the F off. That's total BS that a premium rba would be that janky.
If you have a sturdy enough coil, like anything that will take 0 2ohm, just get the cough medicine cup, or the milk of magnesia cup, ( i got like 6 left over). You just need one ounce of isopropyl alcohol over >75%, then put a heavy object for a day or two. It breaks in the hell out of coils. Just let them dry out and the propanol sticks fierce, sota like a candy whick.

So he could use different wire, ok. That's a whole lot of fidgeting to set up which is the real focus. Pods dominate (especially dang disposables) because majority do not want to fidget around. 2024, you would think companies would focus on easier rebuildable designs.
I disagree nick. Have only run micro aliens in mine, the adaptor while inconvenient is fine if you dont screw it down very tightly, i get great flavour from mine. Shame it went this way for you, I agree with other commenters that 22g is very thick wire for mtl.

Nick, the reason you are not getting good flavor might be that you are vaping on .2 ohn 22g coils. Please try 28g ss or 26g ka1. The ohms are too low for mtl.
Great review Grimm
I agree that rebuildable MTL devices do not compare to pods when it comes to flavor. Unless, of course, it's an Atmizoo Tripod 2. The Tripod 2 is in a class of it's own. Absolutely worth the high price. I like it so much I bought 2.
26-28ga Is perfect
I was majorly let down on the Kayfun BB. It doesn’t wick consistently and the flavor always ends up being muted.. Fail.
Thanks Grimm and future and true FDA😎😎
Hey Nic I have a boro alien 2core in mine fits perfect just
Sooooo I'll stick to my PSYC bridges then . Thanks for another great review Nick ❤
He should just review pods… You would thougt that a “vape reviewer “ would know how to do a proper review…
for me, pod systems always produce too much sweetness in the flavour. however, i think that many people tend to prefer precisely this sweetness, which is why people who switch to rta systems are often disappointed.
raund wire 26GA - 30GA ,, my favourite iz 27or 28 Ga ,, i can get Fused 32x32+40 but flavor is better whit round wire. Cotton depending of liquids but 50/50 dont fluff bzc it which fast . Airflow is the best same as Kayfun X, and previous RTAs so when you find your sweet spot your fine .
maybe i should try the Guava jelly you consistently use it
Try using 28 gauge wire. You mouth to lunging here or direct lung. I bet a higher resistance wire will make a difference.
I just leave the adaptor on mine, the other thing is just a beauty ring really, the adaptor is the same size and it's always sealed for me in my boros
Always the pods have better and sweet flavor but i did not get hit from pods. For me as a bridge unknown midg and mobb mini are the best
is there a reason why the review for that innokin RTA has been removed?
it's back now
A 0.2 Ohm MTL? I would have loved to have seen a higher gauge higher resistance buld. However, that 510 adaptor would have pissed me the F off. That's total BS that a premium rba would be that janky.
The return of Normal View was the highlight of what always looked like a sad Svoe Mesto "Me too" cash grab. And I'm a fan of Svoe Mesto.
If you have a sturdy enough coil, like anything that will take 0
2ohm, just get the cough medicine cup, or the milk of magnesia cup, ( i got like 6 left over). You just need one ounce of isopropyl alcohol over >75%, then put a heavy object for a day or two. It breaks in the hell out of coils. Just let them dry out and the propanol sticks fierce, sota like a candy whick.
What are you even talking about?
Gona have to agree to disagree on this one m8. Yes the adaptor is a pain in the ass but I'm getting the same flavour as my lite plus. Running a micro alien @.76 Cloud Rev 3x32/40
Good review. Still prefer QP, Steamcrave and Baze RTAS
So he could use different wire, ok. That's a whole lot of fidgeting to set up which is the real focus. Pods dominate (especially dang disposables) because majority do not want to fidget around. 2024, you would think companies would focus on easier rebuildable designs.
smaller gauge might give different result.i use 26ga ss wire.flavour better than 24 and 22.for mtl build
i'm going to give this a shot!
Grimm 26 gauge wire or 27 at 16 to 18 watts 🤔😉
Round wire can’t compete with modern pods, I run a micro alien in my mtl setups, usually a 3x30/40 with 2.5 id and 4 or 5 wraps
I think it's just the boro? My kayfun lite is still more flavorful than my puremax or my qlux...
After vaping for 10 years, I've now switched to nic pouches. And I haven't looked back.
I disagree nick. Have only run micro aliens in mine, the adaptor while inconvenient is fine if you dont screw it down very tightly, i get great flavour from mine.
Shame it went this way for you, I agree with other commenters that 22g is very thick wire for mtl.
I’m gonna go for some 27 gauge and report back
For the price they want for that thing it needs to knock all facets out of the park
Where can i guy this one
OMG, spot on, that fcking 510 connector., I've got scratches all over mine as well. 😂😂
Agreed. I've gotten 4 different bridges and the kayfun is the worst so far. Unfortunately.
Best boro in 2024? Im lost man. I shouldve bought a billet box and kept up with the trend but i was lead astray by the salts and pods, now my base game is lacking. Wanna diy juice and coils again. Halp Grimm! Following since blue foam and straws bro!
You should try the Falsh E Vapor 4.5. It's the best mtl rta I have tried. I own 3 of them.
He can't anymore make money of promoting MTL RTAs and such... Thats why he is all about Pods now.
@@derechtebela3102 he literally can't make money off any vape review. That's not even a factor. YT won't let vape reviewers monetise even though they make bank of their videos.
@@derechtebela3102 It's really unfair to declare someone else's motives without having any direct insight into their situation. Nonetheless, here is a summary of his last 10 reviews: 4x AIOs, 2x RBAs, 2x Pods, 1x Hookah, 1x Mod Kit
The best comment here.
kayfun vs kayfun vs kayfun vs kayfun video when? lmfao
I feel like I’ve been fooled. No offense but it’s like you’re trying to get a MTL vape while building for direct lung. In my opinion and the fact I’ve been vaping like this for years. Anything under a .80 ohms is ruining your mouth to lung. I barely ever go over 14 watts of power. Bet your at least 20-25. No go.
Not trolling or being rude. Just trying to help. Kayfun is my all day everyday. I go over 28 gauge wire, the airflow isn’t good, and it heats differently. Try it please
My usual mouth to lungs are 0.4 to 0.7. I’m gonna come out this with a higher gauge wire for sure and report back.
Jesus Nick, you having a bad day? 22g and the height of the coil is way too much for good TH.
i'm gonna come back at this with some 27g soon
If you don't like it Nick, I am NOT buying it😮
never imagined myself to put 22 gauge on kayfun... not even 24...oh and also that coil position is too high
All of that work for ok flavor i would of done 3 banana stickers.
No wonder its crap flavour. 0.2 in mtl 😂😂 duh
Wanna do a trade for it? For realsies.
#GrimmArmy 🐾
Lmao… stick to pods Grimm… why not put in 0.1 coil😂
mesh coils always coat my tongue with aresolized liquid. other than nautilus round wire coil heads i will never be a pod boy!
Boro is like black hole for wallet🎉
22g at 0.2 ohm for MTL.. wtf is going on 😂😂😂😂
Russian 91% ✊… my first rebuildable circa 2012
+1
❤👊
Best Regards 🚭💨
Awesome air flow adjustment.. where can I get a piece of shit like that?
.
☢️
Boo! Engineering Disaster!
Omg. 😂😂😂.
22g lol
Yeah... I should have done higher. I'm going to give it another crack
@@GrimmGreen get one of your guys to do you single 28awg wrapped in 40awg all NI80 2.5ID 4.5 wraps at 17w’s and try that bridge again and let me know what you think.
An aspire tank from 2009 would vape better than that piece of shit honestly
