I've done that exact comparison, EHT sib, JJ bowman, blantons gold and blantons sib. That blind brought out the Creamsicle in 93proof blantons. I found jj bowman and blantons gold to be very similar. Cheers
I've seen these come up in the UK but they are normally crazy crazy money. I'm hoping the London location will get some. Now with your review, I need one more than ever.
Nice video! Good on you for being able to score one. Prices keep going up but at least the whiskey keeps up with it in this case. I’m sure that bottle will last quite a while on the shelf so I suppose the high price isn’t a huge deal. Cheers Patrick!
I was pleasantly surprised by how good this one was Tucker. I think it’s very quintessential Buffalo trace. It’s like a very good ehtaylor single barrel.
I just won a bottle of this in a lottery the other day in Minnesota. What do you think are some bottles that taste better? I find Wild Turkey Rare Breed to be a great rival available at most places for far less. Cheers...
Wild turkey has a different palate. I would say this is more vanilla wafer and ice cream. I would out this up against the bottles I mentioned in the video, Taylor single barrel and Bowman single barrel.
Got my first Blantons Gold at a Binneys in Chicago this summer. Think I paid $135 before taxes?
Agree, it’s a very good whiskey.
That's a solid price. Right about what I think I got it for and I also found it at a binnys. It was the one by goose island brewery.
Knew that would be 90+ when you mentioned the nose.
Nice vid!
The nose is so good. I've had straight from the barrel and I would say that this beats it!
My area its going for 300-400. I can't bring myself to pay that.
If people stop spending these ridiculous amounts of money on Bourbon and whiskey, eventually they'll have to drop their prices.
It's not worth that. It's barely worth it's MSRP of $120. I won one on raffle, and it's good, but so many whiskies the price are better.
HARD pass at that price. I only have a bottle because I got it on sale for $103. I like it but I've since passed on it at $150 after trying.
That's crazy talk. Some stores just kike to gouge. Bowman single barrel is a good alternative.
One of my local stores did a Gold Store Pick and gave loyal customers a chance to buy one for MSRP. I own two.
Congrats. Do you feel there's any difference in their pick to the og gold?
@@TheWhiskeyCove I’ve only had the pick
I'd rather have a 4 roses single barrel-barrel proof any day, less expensive too 😉 . Glad you got one 👍 Enjoy and Cheers 🥃
A store pick single barrel at that. Still cheaper.
Much cheaper but a very different palate. Both are good in their own right.
@@TheWhiskeyCove absolutely right on.

I can see those similarities. Both are very good and have a lot of the same notes. Maybe I should do a blind head-to-head.
I enjoy regular bkantins and I've had the red but this one is high on my list. Thanks for the great review.
If you find it for sub $175 I would buy it. A one-time buy.
Gold and Straight From the Barrel are my 2 fav Blanton’s.
Great choices.
Sounds like good stuff, never tried it before. Maybe one day I'll get a bottle. Great video cheers!
Cheers Steve. I wish you good luck!

You should get down there and check out. I hear they were sampling out Double Eagle Rare when they opened. Maybe you can score a Weller 12?
Straight from the barrel is elite and I would put this in the same category
My preference is the gold. I haven't tried the red or other international releases so there is still time to find a new favorite.
If i can get it at or near msrp, sure. But in my area it's $200-300. I can't really drive out to downtown Chicago stores every week.
I was very fortunate to get this one. I have had a chance to buy it since. It's been about 2 years.

Do that blind!
