Omg! I feel so sorry for you guys that you don’t get that creamy fruity goodness that many of us get with Yara! I even get a little spice or something on top. I’m on my 4th bottle in a year. I did notice that many of the Arabian fragrances you have to empty the straw and let oxidize a bit.

I really love Amethyst 😅 I do agree, though, with the rubbery-ness. However, I will say, that after letting it sit for a solid month or two, that rubber note has almost completely disappeared. This is definitely one that needs to sit.

I’m lucky enough to have a shop nearby to go test out a lot of affordable Middle Eastern perfumes, and it’s definitely an ‘odyssey’ as Val mentioned. Lol. I absolutely love these videos!!! I've recently gotten into Middle Eastern fragrances and have gotten quite a few per your recommendation (Club de Nuit and Nebras being my favorite!) In this list though I have to say that I kind of agree: I enjoy Yara but a) I don't get strawberry milkshake either because b) I'm getting Lancôme's Miracle!!! I can't be the only one who thinks so!!! Raghba is nice but I don't think I'll still be into it a few months from now so I'll try layering it with other fragrances... Lastly, I LOVE Rare Tiffany! It's my very first Middle Eastern fragrance and it was actually a blind buy! But I have to agree that it's not for everyone... My sister can't stand to be around when I wear it 😂 But that's the beauty of fragrances, as shown by you ladies: it's extremely subjective... One woman's signature scent is another's migraine 😂

Same, but I must admit, it's great for layering as it kind of morphes into whatever else you wear beautifully and loses it's synthetic smell and just adds some soft sweetness to other scents. As a stand-alone - NO WAY, JOSE! Immature, oatmilk, synthetic red fruits flavorings sugary drink vibes. Overrated af.

As I'm sure you know, smelling some fragrances so close to your nose, will definitely smell offputting. The magic comes in the sillage air around. Like oxygene disperses the blend of notes differently than a straight shot. I have many middle-eastern perfumes that I did not like at all when I first smelled them. But after the drydown AND the cloud bubble, it creates a fragrance that smells heavenly. Nothing like when i first sniffed it. Ragbah is a good example. Smells busily rich, but later in the air it has a comfy, addictive scent.
Plus you really have to be more into niche notes than designer crowdpleasers.
    I love my strangees.

I was thinking exactly this when watching this video. I also read an interesting book in which they say that perfume is like a vibration and like music we all hear / smell different notes, it also said what perfumes we like depends on our memories and I agree with this 100% percent. Also as with music, you can LOVE a song and someone else, even when you tell them why you think or feel this song is so amazing, cannot hear this and will tell you it is awful. It is similar with perfumes. There were 4 perfumes in this video that I adore and wear regulary , 2 of them are my signature scents. I also let my M E perfumes macerate. My first ever M E perfume ( I have about 160 or so perfumes before I fell in love with M E fragrances) was Rasha because my beloved Gucci Rush was running out and someone said if you like that perfume you will like this. I bought it was a roller ball and so cheap and I actually love it. It is such comforting scent. I had some serious health issues and my perfumes suddenly did not make me happy anymore so I went on a journey discovering M E scents. The second bottle was Shaghaf Oud Swiss Arabian and I was shocked, I knew it was a beast mode but I think the Saffron note is one I have to get used to, I LOVE the dry down but cannot adjust to the start, I will see what it is like after 6 months of maceration. 3rd one was Amethyst which was love at first wear. I adore this and always get compliments when I wear this, Infini Rose followed and my beloved Opulent Red, it was wow at first spray and on my skin it became soft, warm and sensual, a total compliment getter as is Rare Tiffany. Mind you Rare Tiffany, I took the cap off and it was weird skanky type of scent and I though, no, do not like this, but knew it either needed maceration or see how it develops so I sprayed one spray on my wrist, half an hour later I was in love with it. The addictiveness of some scents like Ameer Al Oudh Intense and so on is something that fascinates me. To each their own and once again it proves we all smell different notes, I do smell Yara's strawberries but not necessary a milkshake as I would not like to smell like a milkshake 😅but smell something woody amber and also smell some florals and the heliotrope in this. I did not like Yara at all to begin with and put it away but after 6 months I like wearing it especially on mild sunny days. Love, from Tasmania 🌺🌹💐

@@tiamurrell963 ... You're correct in all your points.
One thing I noticed in myself was how I developed a more wider appreciation for niche style fragrances. When I was younger it was all about the "in" crowd pleasers. Now, I wear fragrances for my own pleasure. Stuff I would've said "no way!" now I say "WoW!" So I think, the more fragrances you open up to, the more you appreciate them. And sometimes you get good at dissecting the notes!
I got tired of designer scents because most smell the same. When I found out about middle eastern perfumes, man! it opened up a whole new world. Such beautiful presentations and inexpensive to boot!! No going back to the big brands for me. Can't afford them anyway.

@@oldschoolfunkster1 Hi, this is Tia, I am uploading a new video for my music channel so I am replying with this channel, sorry. You are so right in how we change why we wear perfumes. Mind you I was always a bit of a rebel, before Niche fragrances become fashionable my first love bought me a perfume that became a Niche scent from Paris and this became my signature scent (Coriander Jean Couturier sadly the formula has been changed and it is nowhere near the perfume it once was , I still have a bottle of the original and it is still perfect) and I knew no one of my age wearing a scent like this. But I think nowadays I wear the perfumes that makes me happy ( and hopefully my husband will enjoy it, if he doesn't I still wear it but not around him 😅) . When I was a bit younger it was all about the designer perfumes, but even then I was a little bit off the center with my choices. But still I have a lot of those crowd pleasers. But now it is JUST like you said. I still cannot believe the perfumes I bought recently , the bold choices I made , 4 or so blind buy disasters ( 2 I am still hoping will get nicer). Like you said I was also sick of smelling similar and a friend of mine who lives overseas felt the same way. I started buying all these fragrances and she trusted my taste and also love my top 4 ME perfumes. They are amazing aren't they? I have Long Covid and lost my taste for a while and my sense of smell was a bit affected which meant I could not smell my own perfumes but once I changed to ME perfumes even with my sense of smell having returned, no other perfume lets you smell your own perfume 8 or so hours after first spraying it. I love that. And then there is the wonderful price, so much more easy on the pocket yet smells so divine. I still have spares of my favourite designer perfumes but I also bought back up bottles of my favourite top 4 ME perfumes. The presentations are also so lovely and unusual. I love the whole 'One Thousand and One Nights Arabian Magic Tale' feel of these perfumes. 🤩

      @@barryryan1948 ... Great story.
Funny how a scent can snap a moment in ones life and mentally take you there in an instant. Non perfume aromas do that to me too, like PlayDoh, Crayolas, cherry incense sticks...
One of my first middle eastern scents was Rahgba Intense. It reminded me of head shops (hippie stores) when I would shop for incense sticks. I later found out Nag Champa was the scent that was intriguing me.
I then bought some Rasasi makes. I didn't know anything about which perfumes where my likes, no stores here carry them. So I would buy by how nice the bottle looked. I figured if they put enough thought into the presentation, heck, they must not go cheap on the perfume. And boy, was I right. They put these 100/200 dollar designer perfumes to shame. It proved to me how much these big house brands really rip off people. I've bought 20-50 dollar MidEast perfumes that the box itself looks like It costs that much.
Only one problem though😔. It becomes a habit. Lol. I have enough fragrances to wear for 3 lifetimes...but I still want more!! It's like a never ending journey to finding the perfect fragrance. You might find it...but you'll still find a reason to keep on searching. Lol.

Raghba baffles me - am I smelling the same fragrance as those who like it? I bought it and it is litterally the first fragrance I have smelt that made me nauseus and gag. It smelt very sweet, mixed with sweat, saliva and metallic like blood.... It is hard to believe that the juice in my bottle is the same as the perfume that others find nice. In many cases I can appreciate perfumes that don't fit my taste. But Raghba - wow. I tested it three times and regretted it deeply each time, feeling nauseous and sick to my stomach. I wish I could smell the nice fragrance others describe 😊 It makes me question if different batches aren't uniform or if it simply is a case of us people being different with different perception and experience.

Hi, what a lovely video, I loved watching this as I enjoyed seeing your friendship, loved the laughter and your comments. Thank you for this as it is really nice to hear honest opinions. I read an interesting book in which they say that perfume is like a vibration and like music we all hear / smell different notes, it also said what perfumes we like depends on our memories and I agree with this 100% percent. For example if you are drawn to a sweet vanilla or cinnamon note this may be an association to some perfect memory ( for me my beloved Omi/ grandma and her baking) . I also let my Middle Eastern perfumes macerate. My first ever M E perfume ( I have about 160 or so perfumes before I fell in love with M E fragrances now I am afraid to count 😅😂) was Rasha by Al Rehab because my beloved Gucci Rush was running out and someone said if you like that perfume you may also like this. I bought it as it was a roller ball perfume oil and so cheap and I actually love it. It is such comforting scent. I developed some serious health issues and my perfumes suddenly did not make me happy anymore so I went on a journey discovering M E scents. The second bottle was Shaghaf Oud (Swiss Arabian) and I was shocked, I knew it was a beast mode but I think the Saffron note is one I have to get used to, I LOVE the dry down ( it takes me back to my exotic first love for some reason) but cannot adjust to the start, I will see what it is like after many months of maceration. I have had some total failure blind buys and some are too sharp for my taste and the one thing the blind buy fails have in common is the Saffron note ( although it is in some other perfumes which I love, weird) . I hope to be now at the stage where I sort of can guess which one will be successful or a bad buy or a safe blind buy but it can still go wrong 🤣. But before throwing any out or giving them away I will let each one macerate. It really shows that we are so different and to each their own and once again it proves we all smell different notes, I do smell Yara's strawberries but not necessary a milkshake as I would not like to smell like a milkshake 😅but smell something woody amber and some spice as well as some florals and the heliotrope note (which I love). I did not like Yara at all to begin with and put it away but after 6 months I like wearing it especially on mild sunny days.Thank you for such an interesting honest video and for sharing. Love, from Tasmania 🌺🌹💐

This was an AMAZING post. Thank you for sharing that!! I agree, perfume is a form of art for our olfactory senses!! Some will be in awe and some will find it distasteful. It’s what I love the most about fragrance!!

      @tiamurrell963 6 місяців тому +1

@@mariacollettlife Thank you so much, I agree with you 100% it is what I love about fragrance as well. What I find also interesting is that for example is when I wear my signature scent and am asked what it is, I am now careful as I know it is hated many and say it is not a safe blind buy. I actually had friends wanting to buy it after repeatedly smelling it on me and complimenting the perfume, and friends also who visited and smelled the bottle and said, "No, that's not what YOU are wearing" Only one other loved it so much and put it on and I bought it for her. So your body chemistry does change how it smells on you. Thank you for your videos , I love watching them and again, your friendship shines in this video 😍🧡🧡

Oh yay, another video with the two of you; you guys are hilarious! I am so on the fence about Yara, because the reviews are either great or bad, so obviously it's very subjective. But unfortunately, there's no way to test it beforehand, so I'm going to think on it a bit more. I've also read that if you don't like Bade'e Al Oud Amethyst, there is another one from Maison Alhambra in a very similar type bottle called Infini Rose that's a much better dupe of Atomic Rose, and there's no rubbery oud in that one.

Well thank you to both of you, it was so good to have Val back. You two are so great together, your chemistry is so good, it´s lovely to see.
I skipped Yara because of the polarizing opinions, i think i can live without trying it. Val mentioned opulent red shortly, and that is one of the really polarizing perfumes. I bought it good while ago, at start i was horrified like: is this supposed to smell good? :o I stocked it for like half a year, trying it out from time to time. And though the first spray is still hard for me, i have learned to love the drydown. So i´m just carefull not to spray too near my face, and not to sniff immediately.
Because of my struggle with opulent red, i was hesitant to get Badee al oudh amethyst for the longest time. Instead i got Infini Rose and that was insta love for me. After a long while I also got amethyst just recently. And maybe my nose is getting used on certain kind of scents, but i liked it a lot immediately. I`ve not had time yet to try it out more, but it looks really promising.
Of Raghba i have to agree with you, for me also it smells a bit flat. I´ve heard people saying they use it for layering, and i´ve been trying to figure out with what to layer it, but i´ve not found out good options yet. Maybe i´ll just try blindly with different scent families. I have sample of rare tiffany, i´ve not cared much of that one this far. I´ll try it again later also.
One youtuber of middle eastern origin talked a lot about how the culture affects our preference for scents. Like for her Shaghaf oud is just meh, cause for her it´s boring, something she´s smelled all her life. While here on western countries it was revolutionary scent family. Also, she said that some type of oud comes out with what we call burnt rubber smell, for them it´s lovely, but many here struggle with that kind of scents.
What comes to my total fails, i would not recommend Al haramain red flower to anyone. I mean i could not smell any flower, only strong, not pleasing herbal scent. It´s been sitting on dark corner for over half a year, maybe i´ll try it again one of these days. Another total fail is Khashab al oud from Bait al bakhoor. It´s much too masculine to my taste.

Although I saw a review where someone said it smells like" an old woman wearing a cardigan". 😂 Which I can kinda see. Bade'e Al Oud Amethyst... I decluttered. Didn't care for the latex note, either! Yara is not a strawberry milkshake (repeat 20x). Qisssa Pink by Paris Corner is much better and what I believe Yara was shooting for. Fresher, sharper, fruitier. I like, but don't love Sakeena. Haya (pink bottle) which has the same type of packaging because it is from the same line, is better IMO. It has a champagne note. Bright and fizzy! I laughed so hard when I saw the deer head. I own Wazeer, too! I like it! Not love, but I do like it. Rare Tiffany I didn't care for, but Rare Passion? I love that one. LOVE. Sooo pretty and feminine. Hey Ladies, thank you for a lovely video. I agree with all of these wholeheartedly, but Opulent Red is something else. I still have it, because I love the red of the bottle. I have kept it for close to a year now, and it's slightly better, but it's so so horrible.

@@mariacollettlife I hated Lou Lou for years, then suddenly I began to love it. It is so strange how we also change what we love wearing or our sense of smell changes.

I love Opulent Red! To me, it reminds me of what I imagine a private gentlemen's library would smell like, considering it is boozy and spicy and woody and leathery and smoky and vanillic. Isn't it funny how we all have different taste?

Yara in the "Pink" bottle by Lattafa was a fail for me and Delilah by Maison Alhambra, but under the umbrella of Lattafa was also a fail for me. Neither lasted on my skin for less than 30 minutes 😢 and Delilah had a synthetic note that no matter how much I left it to macerate, it was still there. They are not a bad fragrance it's just longevity, and the synthetic notes are my issue. I'm happy that it lasted long on most people and smelled good to them. I guess I was unfortunate 😢.

I got the Barrakat Satin Oud and I thought it was not good. It smelled like a dirty diaper covered up with a bunch of fancy baby powder. There was something a little funky in it that was not pleasant or smooth to me. Glad I only spent $16 on it.

I got 3 middle eastern fragrances, one was inspired by you and Val. The vanilla and roses by emir that she shared in one of your previous videos with her and I LOVEEEEEEE IT. it’s better than roses vanille because it’s smoother. I even like it better than intense cafe.
I got kamrah and at first I thought it was way too sweet and strong but now I love it anddddddd the worse perfume I’ve ever smelled after black opium….shagaf oud, it was a blind buy and the first middle Eastern perfume I purchased and it’s smelled like burnt tires to me, just plain awful it made me scared to try any other middle eastern fragrances. But you and Val have inspired me to get a few more 😊

Fruit and Oud can be great as in Oudmazing- one of my favorites!
I sneak peeked the list and I see you put Rare Tiffany on there! I went for that one because it was getting a lot of hype in 2021 but it is so gross! Ugh 😣
Wow YARA got so much hype earlier 2023- I am glad I resisted!

I thought the same thing about Raghba when I wear it, but the dry down is quite different, and I like it now .,it’s a compliment magnet, so I kept it . Bades Al
Oud amethyst , another huge compliment getting scent. I don’t get rubber smell from it. I get a jammy rose with incense. Yara is gorgeous. . There is no strawberry in it. If you look at the notes .. we have to agree to disagree on that one 😃 could not stand Rare Tiffany. that one was to me the worst I’ve ever gotten. completely confused as to why anyone would call that a perfume. I know that all noses are definitely different . Thanks for the review ladies.

Have you tried the Infini Rose instead of the Amethyst? I really love it! I was going to blind buy the amethyst but an Amazon review made me try the infini rose instead. And what about the Yara Tous? I really wanted to love it but it smells nothing of fruits to me 😢 just smells powdery and meh. I want to try the og Yara but I’m afraid it’ll be meh instead of strawberry milkshake 😅

This was fun! For a Rouge Malachite dupe try riiffs luxury rouge 🤩
I almost bought the purple orientica but couldn't find it, so I am going to buy the Barakkat Gentle Gold - it's much cheaper and the bottle is so pretty - thanks for the input, this was very helpful !
I actually really like Raghba - I get dark woody cinnamon sugar, but completely agree with the Opulent red remarks, it was such a blind buy fail for me! 😆
more fails L'Femme Paradiso Riiffs, the beautiful purple bottle got me,but it smells wierd and definetely not feminine!
Ser Hubbee Lattafa - again,a beauitul bottle, and pretty feminine and easy going/every day notes , but it just smells strange tome for some reason

I got a little bottle of Raghba because of all the positive reviews but it was just meh to me. Amethyst I really want to love. I do wear it occasionally but I get that sharp note. I use it in my diffuser a lot lmao. I’ve been wanting to try Infini Rose hoping I’d like it better. 😊
