Myself, am fully 'qualified' with class 1 & CPC, Tachograph, military trained. Recently had my over 45 years of age medical although I'm closer to 60....! Done lots of Agency work. Pay for the hassles & responsibilities isn't great. Decided to go down the Security route with SIA in pocket & earn for a 12 hour shift much the same without the grief & stress. I've seen £12 & £12.50 advertised for class one by agencies down here in the SW. Disgusting....! Cheap labour cos it ain't easy looking out for those bridges, etc.....!

These stat's make for interesting reading: "Are millionaires leaving UK? Never thought I would want to leave the UK but more recently, the thought keeps popping back into my head.
Me and the wife applied yrs ago.but they said we were 1 yr to old to get visa...all you had to do was nick a loaf of bread a 100yrs ago and it was free to get into Austraila
Ive got a class 1 license but drive a 7.5 ton on more money than my artic friends but i do more drops , loving it.a lot of uk roads arent built for artics.

Not driving at the moment, I'm a bricklayer to trade, but every now and again I get bored and go back driving, there is plenty of work for drivers here, not sure about the rules with your truck licence here when I came I didn't have to do a test as I had a british class 1, but they did change it and you had to redo a driving test, but I'm sure you would have checked that out, good luck you will love it here if you like the heat

The last 30 years inflation up 125% Hgv wages only up 75% your worth less now than you were 30 years ago. They want us to take on more work and responsibility for less pay and what's worse we do it :(
That's pretty much the same for most jobs, that's what happens when the government prints way too much money, and then opens the door to mass migration that saturated the market with cheap labour. You can't expect good wages, if the government is letting in people/economic migrants who will do your job for half the money.
I wouldn't move things are not what you think it is in Australia same thing here in New Zealand and around the world no housing and if you can it's very costly that's just one of the problems down under.

And as far as your truck licence is concerned, buy yourself a packet of cornflakes when you get off the plane because that's how easy it is to get a heavy vehicle licence in all states in Australia.

6:15 Me? I would have put on my hazards and parked it for a bit to walk and check. You just drive onto the property expecting it will be alright. I have done that myself plenty of times, but sometimes it creates a shitload of problems which can be prevented by walking and checking if it will fit or not. Seeing you struggle to get that trailer where you want it triggers me. I see you start steering when the truck is moving. Sometimes you need to steer before the truck is moving. I know, this is not nice for the tires. But sometimes you got no choice. But i would have had that trailer backed up in that alley (9:43 the left) no problem. I know cameras do not do justice to the situation at hand. But they do show that you aint steering too much. When you pull it forward with max steering to one side..... before going backwards, steer it max to the other side. By moving and then steering you only waste space. Anyways, that is just an opinion from a dutch trucker. And i know: England is not the Netherlands. But still, it works the same. If you move the truck and then start steering, you have wasted space. If you steer and then start moving, you have wasted a bit of rubber, but potentially have made things a lot easier for yourself. (depending on if you are able to understand what to do in certain circumstances) I still would have walked the distance to check if i should drive onto the property forward, or if i should back it in. And granted, backing it in from the main road might have been difficult as well. But i rather spend a minute or 2 more to back it in and go out easy, than to drive in and get stuck on the property.
at 11:40 you still backing up and trusting the guy and his directions, and your own view of the situation. But what is keeping you from driving a bit forward now? and countersteering???? You only make things difficult for yourself, while you now should have had room to drive forward and straighten things up a bit. 11:30: millimeters. Yeah, if you keep pushing it backwards, it is. But you have created space infront of you by going backwards. Why not pull it up again??? You could have pulled it forwards again, straighten it out to be able to use the mirrors a bit better. Man, you trigger me. You made it look so difficult. While Stevie Wonder could have done this.

What gets my goat about truck driving (been at it 20 years) is that a train driver earns 2 to 3 time the amount i do and does a quarter of the work..

Was gobsmacked last night called at Costa, Cardiff West Services, M4. Bought 2 hot chocolates for £9.60 the worst purchase ever. Was more milk than chocolate was as milky as coffee latte. Never again.

Hey Sam, jus wanted to ask, can an immigrant apply for HGV leaners licence and if so can he also apply for a job as an HGV driver, cuz i heard UK no longer wants to provide jobs for immigrants
