  • In this video I show you how you can get a batter white balance when working with jpeg files with generally don't have the color information to get an actual proper white balance.

WB is something I constantly struggle with so thanks for this tutorial!

I used to struggle with it a lot as well, but like I said in the video, if you are shooting RAW, and you’re shooting a gray card, WB becomes a lot less of a hassle. But for those times when you can’t do the above, I made this video.
      Glad you enjoyed it!

Absolutely helpful so after we shoot the grey card then what? Lol we can click and it fixes the white balance for the image with the grey card but what about the rest of them? I do a lot of outdoor shoots so i change flash power on multiple lights throughout the shoots so will my white balance be different? Thanks so much always for your dedication to this channel and continuing to maje these incredible videos

Yeah. Ideally once you have at least shot of a gray card under your key light (wether it be the Sun or a flash,) and you are shooting RAW, you should be ok.
I will say, that depending on the quality of your speedlights (or flashes) the color temperature shouldn’t change when you change the power level, but they usually do a little. Especially with cheaper flashes. Not enough to make a huge difference, but it can be noticeable.
One thing I also try to do is shoot a gray card again when I change lighting modifiers. In a perfect world all lighting modifiers like umbrellas or softboxes will all be the same color, but some of the diffusion material might have a slightly different color than another.
But with all that being said, I don’t think the differences would be too noticeable.

@@brgphotography thanks so much always I just switched over to godox ad600pro ad200pro multiple v1s and a tt865 or something lol once I have that white balance set is there a way to apply it to all the images? I think that's the main part I'm confused about and thanks for always taking time to help educate me I'm slow ha

What do you use for your RAW processing?

@brgphotography I use affinity for everything just the regular develop persona I think or whatever that first little window is when you open a raw image ha

      Right. Yeah.
To be honest I don’t use the RAW processor in affinity photo. Not because I think it’s bad, but for the reason you said. You can only process one photo at a time.
I use Capture One for my RAW processing before I bring it into affinity photo for retouching.
Capture One let’s me view and edit multiple photos and make batch corrections to color, exposure, etc…. Then the photos I want to retouch, I bring into affinity photo. I’ve actually been wanting to make a video about my RAW processing workflow, because that’s the one thing I haven’t really talked about.
But I’ve got some new videos coming out soon that will expand the scope of the channel and one of those will be about my RAW processing step using Capture One, then bringing it in to affinity photo.
