    Great video!
    Asafa is an extremely unique case that we should all appreciate. During his time, most sprinters were 100-200 combo sprinters.
    Asafa was a PURE 100m athlete that rarely ran 200m, so he didn’t have to worry about dropping weight or programming sprint endurance for the 200m like most sprinters- like most Americans that go through the NCAA system where they become combo sprinters to score points for their teams etc.
    He was designed and built as a straight up 100m power specialist. Extremely powerful with ideal mechanics. We didn’t really see many of these guys doing this back then, especially at his level and having consistent dominant performances throughout his career.
    When he was relaxed and not pressing, one of the most incredible performers the sport has ever seen.
    Younger people may not understand what this man was doing at a complete unreal level - during a time where we did not have all the science and coaching methodologies that exist now- before all this data, tech for instant analysis with slow mo and angle analysis in basically real time etc, these tools weren’t as easily accessible back then. The world of track changed a lot in the past 15-20 years.
    This man broke new ground for the sport.
    An Asafa Powell in this era would run sub 9.65 consistently, probably even faster with the tools and data that current athletes have now + the super shoes that did not exist back then.
    Definitely a generational type of sprinter.

      I wish to relocate but don't know how's that going to happen.

    Genetics/Bodytype is NO excuse!
    Take a look at Christian Taylor (long tibia and achilles, shorter thights) and Jonathan Edwards (shorter tibia and achilles, longer thights) but still these two individuals are the two best triple jumpers in history. They both have a very different bodytype but are both fast and explosive.

    Hey man, good video. One little mix up- Asafa is in a slight "posterior pelvic tilt" not anterior pelvic tilt (in that relay clip). This is a common mistake people make as they interpret arching backward as "posterior pelvic tilt", but in order to crunch your abs and tuck forward a little(as he is doing in that clip), your pelvis has to tilt "posteriorly". Cheers man!

    So, how do you specifically train that in relation to sprinting mechanics?
    Because what is show here, like squats and jumping etc are nowhere near specific to sprinting mechanics, as in, it disrespects the SAID principle.

    • @Janthony04

  • @Mister_Terrific806
    @Mister_Terrific806 15 днів тому

    I don't think his 40 is a 4.28 considering the split is being calculated with the use of starting blocks, he's probably in the high 4.3s to low 4.4. The only people I know of to legitimately run a 4.28 without starting blocks have been former NFL RBs, Chris Johnson and Bo Jackson.
