Coming here after the clip after she had the conversation with her parents where her dad just went "You're one of the anime girls, right?" adds a new level of comedy to it.
It depends like with all parents on how accepting they can be. Are they more traditional(who have a clear goal for you in mind, most kids know if there is one thing a parent always wanted you to pursue, even the ones who are more supportive), or are they more laid back and receptive. There are nuances to what they'll think about accepting. Sometimes you can be a star in the entertainment industry and able to buy them mansions, yet they'll always pinprick you about being a lawyer or a doctor, or an engineer. For instance, I make a decent amount of money, but my mom always pressures me to be an executive or entrepreneur (she also got into anime later in her 50s, but I would see her playing video games when I was younger, so there was a sign she wasn't as strict wholesale as she seemed, could have been my dads influence since he was an artist, and always loved watching cartoons). What I would suggest for Giri, is since her dad is more interested and understanding, to tell him first when she is ready and let him help wear her mom down on how its not a big deal. Maybe sprinkle in that she teaches people as well through vtubing, and how its really just another leg of the entertainment industry nowadays, and hopefully it works over time.

The whole point is they'll never tell you to your face that they are but they'll tell everyone else about how much you've achieved, just to flex on other parents. So I don't think her mom will ever tell her to her dying day. But it will be clear when she actually is.
I like how Nina is honestly super supportive to everyone she interacts with, but the Gossip Mom inside also benefits when told things in confidence lmao
After working at dominos for 4 years, watching her play with the dough is cute to me, cause all i can see myself doing is tossing that thing around in the air to stretch it out (my favorite way, with some flare)
Aaaaah I missed that stream :( I would have loved to watch it live but I think it was at like 4am or something haha. Man, I have so many VODs to catch up on...
The second she said she's chinese, I knew 2 things before the video continued. 1. She'll have to be finanically stable; prob a few million subscribers and a consistent income before she can reveal it to them. 2. She'll have to very slowly introduce internet culture and vtubers to them over time without accidentally causing a fight with them that might make them hate vtubers in some way.
3:48 I have this problem with my parents as well, my parents dont realise that their worrying and constant arguments dont just affect their own relationship but also affects me as well. It makes me fustrated and depressed whenever they argue over every damn thing.
I wouldn't erally say the parents are looking out for her well being so much as saying they're looking out for what she should be doing in their eyes. I agree that experience should be noted, but at the same time; she's a grown woman who's capable of making her own decisions. It just feels kinda shit that she can't talk to her own mom about her life without fearing her mom will argue with her. It's just a shame.
I don't think she's quite at the point where that becomes a plausible option. We've seen plenty of internet cooks do it, like Babish and Joshua Weissman, but I think Giri needs a bigger audience before even considering it. Actually getting through a publisher and releasing a physical print is quite laborious and difficult these days.
I obviously have a different type of relationship with my parents, but I'd just tell them, even if it means a fight. If you really love them and they love you, who cares about some insignificant argument? At the end of the day, you're an adult and you make decisions for your life, as your parents they need to have more faith that you know what's best for your life and faith in themselves, since they're the ones who raised you to make the right decisions.
2:05 It could be worse. My Vietnam Veteran Grandfather (mom's side) taught me every racial slur for Asian people under the rising sun. Then my ALSO Vietnam Veteran Grandfather (dad's side) just started teaching me racial slurs. He was also the first of our family born in the US and we had to maintain some of our heritage. So I also learned how to swear in Russian. I learned what a bar of soap tastes like.
Question what is more tough? Tell your parents: A) that you quit your well paid job in office to become a Vtuber with jiglly good parts and cook on streams ? B) That you quit your Univerzity 2 times already, cause you wanted to have more time to watch Onigiri, Shylily, Mori Calliope, Enna, Kronii, Nina mama and other Vtubers? (^-^´) lmao

If so does she live with her brother together in the same place alone like is there nobody else? Since her parents don’t know she streams I’m also assuming she ain’t living with her parents so can someone help me here?
Hmm, as a child of Asian parents, currently working as a doctor, they still worry about me, still put pressure on me, still have certain expectations for me. It makes me question the worth if their feelings about me. I think at some point you just have to do your own thing and not give a damn what they think. But then again, maybe I don’t have the best relationship with my parents so…
Hey Giri, what demographics are you attracting? Young people? Maybe show them how to cook meals that are simple, cost effective, and nutritious. A video series on '3-ingredient meals' could be popular. You might even publish a book. I think it'd be pretty cool to see you do really well, and impress your parents.
This is a normal asian family dymamics ngl, I have alot of things that i dont just talk about. I sneak out at night go to underground music place, make some change, gain a mysterious amount of money but i would never dare to talk to them about ig, not bc of what i did was bad but they will certainly took it as a childs fun hobby
Could probably invite them for a meal, _stream_ the whole cooking process in advance, and show them parts of that very stream at some other point. If you want to take a slightly more hidden route, have someone dub over it. The *_meal itself_* should be the greatest hint. Anything else they might recognize like mannerisms/techniques shown by the hand or something in your cooking setup are also good clues. And if *ALL* that doesn't work... show footage of the dog in stream. _You heard me_ ಠ_ಠ _Whip out the dog._ ૮ ºﻌºა Anyway, I respect the wait for a satisfactory flow of income! So I don't think her mom will ever tell her to her dying day. But it will be clear when she actually is.
I like how Nina is honestly super supportive to everyone she interacts with, but the Gossip Mom inside also benefits when told things in confidence lmao
Oh man the HAIYAAA is going to be strong with this one....
After working at dominos for 4 years, watching her play with the dough is cute to me, cause all i can see myself doing is tossing that thing around in the air to stretch it out (my favorite way, with some flare)
I can related to this i want to steam without their knowledge
2:02 i felt that too
Aaaaah I missed that stream :( I would have loved to watch it live but I think it was at like 4am or something haha.
Man, I have so many VODs to catch up on...
I hope Onigiri gets to the point she wants
The second she said she's chinese, I knew 2 things before the video continued. 1. She'll have to be finanically stable; prob a few million subscribers and a consistent income before she can reveal it to them. 2. She'll have to very slowly introduce internet culture and vtubers to them over time without accidentally causing a fight with them that might make them hate vtubers in some way.
Such a great daughter!
3:48 I have this problem with my parents as well, my parents dont realise that their worrying and constant arguments dont just affect their own relationship but also affects me as well. It makes me fustrated and depressed whenever they argue over every damn thing.
I really feel for Giri, hope her channel grows even bigger
I got the opposite of her's. My mom is open minded but my dad is narcissistic drunkard with no remorse.
Same. Glad mine passed when I was 14. I still love and missed him but he was physically abusive to mom and us.
Just show them your income, everything will be solved
giri's parents: you A a faaailure, why do you think we made you play the piano? to be a dokta
Bette to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. Especially in this case.
shes got some amazing eye tracking with that model golllyyy
I kept waiting for her to add that jelly to the pizza.
Ah yes...tiger parents, the complicated type of parents. They always think what is best for you but they do it like they hate you
I wouldn't erally say the parents are looking out for her well being so much as saying they're looking out for what she should be doing in their eyes. I agree that experience should be noted, but at the same time; she's a grown woman who's capable of making her own decisions. It just feels kinda shit that she can't talk to her own mom about her life without fearing her mom will argue with her. It's just a shame.
Giri should write and publish a cookbook. I don't mean a pdf or a wepage. I mean an actual book with a cover and pages and ink and a prologue.
That hand cam gives alot of personality to the Vtuber model. I assume she's using a green suit or shirt to cover hide her body.
How do I get a desk job from home? I got in a car accident and I really need something I can do from home now
Supportive Nina Mom for the win
Tell your parents:
A) that you quit your well paid job in office to become a Vtuber with jiglly good parts and cook on streams ?
B) That you quit your Univerzity 2 times already, cause you wanted to have more time to watch Onigiri, Shylily, Mori Calliope, Enna, Kronii, Nina mama and other Vtubers? (^-^´) lmao
oni should try introducing her mom to Ike or something lol
Rough is putting it lightly.
I can just hear her mom say "At least you show them that you can COOK! Men like women who cook " 😆
I see the drama in the future
Can someone explain about her living situation. Because I hear some there name giribro, I’m assuming that her brother? If so does she live with her brother together in the same place alone like is there nobody else? Since her parents don’t know she streams I’m also assuming she ain’t living with her parents so can someone help me here?
How she's describing her parents is like how she's describing my parents.
We are proud of you Giri 👍
Hmm, as a child of Asian parents, currently working as a doctor, they still worry about me, still put pressure on me, still have certain expectations for me. It makes me question the worth if their feelings about me. I think at some point you just have to do your own thing and not give a damn what they think. But then again, maybe I don’t have the best relationship with my parents so…
Big City is Big City, whether it's France or anywhere else. Go to the wrong part as a tourist and you're not very safe.
The drama mama has logged on.
The second Giri mentioned having “Tiger parents”, everything makes sense.
I can sympathize (minus having a decent mood about… everything honestly)
They want what's best for their child, but they have limited knowledge on how many more avenues there are for good things.
dunno man, asian parents sound like slav parents to me. one exeption, we are constantly drunk here so i guess it ballance itself somehow
Did anybody else feel this on a molecular level? My parents have no idea what I do. They still think I have the same job I had two years ago
i must not let my parents know im a vtuber
hey parents heres what a vtuber is
But Giri, you are a breadwinner. Fox mom is a good friend.
Corn in Cantonese is all I can think of.
The balls...
I mean...is there?
She recommended Mousey. I would like to see her reaction to this.
During the whole story, I was mezmerised by Giri stretching out the dough ^^
Hey Giri, what demographics are you attracting? Young people? Maybe show them how to cook meals that are simple, cost effective, and nutritious. A video series on '3-ingredient meals' could be popular. You might even publish a book.
I think it'd be pretty cool to see you do really well, and impress your parents.
Ayo ina, mm wait, its not ina
people got weird ass family dynamics
This is a normal asian family dymamics ngl, I have alot of things that i dont just talk about. I sneak out at night go to underground music place, make some change, gain a mysterious amount of money but i would never dare to talk to them about ig, not bc of what i did was bad but they will certainly took it as a childs fun hobby
A lot of families are like this. My latino family still doesnt believe in mental health to this day
Traditional asian parents? Uh oh.
I understand that but it you must tell them I even tell my parents what I want until they understand what I like they say sorry and very happy for you
It would be funny if they know and watch her streams but don't say anything 🤣
Lol just tell them u make X amount of money and they will just shut up
It’s very weird with the hands 🫤
Could probably invite them for a meal, _stream_ the whole cooking process in advance, and show them parts of that very stream at some other point. If you want to take a slightly more hidden route, have someone dub over it. The *_meal itself_* should be the greatest hint. Anything else they might recognize like mannerisms/techniques shown by the hand or something in your cooking setup are also good clues. And if *ALL* that doesn't work... show footage of the dog in stream.
_You heard me_ ಠ_ಠ
_Whip out the dog._ ૮ ºﻌºა
Anyway, I respect the wait for a satisfactory flow of income! Just throwing an idea out there for her lol
