beautiful, long one of my favorite releases by Zoot. Victor Feldman does himself proud on this track in particular, the groove that he sets with the incomparable Ray Brown, Barney Kessel and Billy Higgins is the perfect vehicle for the always swinging Zoot. The little recurring vamp delights me as much on every hearing as id did on the first time I heard it many years ago. Thanks for posting it here.
In his review of this 1981 release, Scott Yanow writes, "But the main reason to acquire this disc is to hear Sims and Pepper jamming together on "Wee" and "Breakdown Blues." No mention of Ipanema.
I agree with Mimmo Stolfi. Art Pepper doesn't play on this tune. The musicians on this track are:: Zoot Sims (ts); Barney Kessel (g); Victor Feldman (p); Ray Brown (b); Billy Higgins (d).
Wow and even more Wow!!!
One of the best version of this song! Can't go wrong with these two...
Best and most beautiful version l have listned.
Victor Feldman takes a wonderful solo, he always swings and gets a great sound out of the piano. He remains underrated despite his many recordings.
Great rhythm section - Victor Feldman, Ray Brown, Billy Higgins

merci pour ces musiciens merveilleux, et les moments de plaisir...
Qué bueno era Art Pepper y cómo se le ha infravalorado siempre.

The best "the girl from ipanema" since Stan Getz
