A few years ago I found a letter my late grandma wrote my mom while she was in college. I scanned it and ordered my mom & aunts all custom necklaces with their maiden name in my grandma’s handwriting from a shop on Etsy. To this day it is my favorite gift I’ve ever given.
The shop I used was CaitlynMinimalist (I actually got them a bangle bracelet) - I’ve bought a couple different custom pieces from her over the years. You can also search “signature necklace” or “handwriting necklace” and compare prices and reviews. (As a side note, my favorite part was searching this letter where my grandma was complaining about my mom spending too much money at college for a word or phrase to put onto this very sentimental gift 😂)
Yesss!! I was Sooooo excited to hear Mane Message, I watch both of your channels and am starting a small handmade business on Etsy and I squealed to see your products in this video!!!
omg I cannot wait to get story worth for my mom! she is almost 70, and has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to know everything about her while I can, this recommendation means more to me than you know and I had no idea this existed.
Love this idea, Jessica, but next year, you might consider posting this video a few weeks earlier!! Some Etsy shops have a deadline around the holidays.
I can’t recommend StoryWorth enough! We bought it for my mom for Mother’s Day 2019, and she bought another year of it without telling us to continue telling her stories. It’s something we’ll all treasure forever.
My niece got the Story Worth for my brother last year. He is 69 and was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I am included on the emails so I get to see what he is writing each week. He is so proud of his answers and reading them brings a tear to my eye.
Can absolutely vouch for Story Worth- I am very close to my mom and could not believe how much I still didn’t know about her until she answered questions I never thought to ask. So much about her childhood and adult life before kids was fascinating to read, and she really loved doing it. Got a couple of the books for us both and it is a treasure I will keep forever. Highly recommend.
THANK YOU for using sites other than Amazon. I feel like every gift guide out there is all Amazon, and all the items are all the same. Thank you for reminding people to shop "smaller" shops on Etsy, because that could truly make a difference in a person's life right now. Loved this list, so different form all the others. ❤️
Thank you so so much! I will be buying one of those books. My daddy passed in 08 when I was 19, so my mama has all the stories of him, her, and their lives together. To have it all in a book and be able to have my kids read about their grandparents would be amazing ❤
This video was AMAZING! I feel like just watching this will help me finish up the rest of the shopping on my list! Love the categories you used to organize it. Would love to see this every year.
Loved this video Jessica! It’s also nice to support small businesses at this time of year. Please do more videos like these throughout the year. Thank you!!
Jessica! This was such a fun video. I found so many neat gifts I’m going to give. Went into the Etsy wormhole and barely made it out alive 🤣 Definitely do more of these videos 🤩
Just got the storywhorth for my kids grandparents.Thank you for the gifts idea that very meaningful and unique. As soon as I shown your video to my husband and was like......YESSSS
I bought a similar map of the states frame by Thunderbunnylabs a couple of years ago and I LOVE IT! My partner is in the military so we do a lot of traveling. It’s a beautiful way to keep track of our memories.
I LOVE this video Jess!!! This is so cute, I hope you will do more videos like this. I love shopping with small brands instead of big retailers, so yeeaaah for more content like this.
Great ideas!! Happily Ever Threads looks cute but they aren't taking orders right now! Also your sweater is so nice, that color looks great on you Jessica!
As someone who no longer supports Amazon, I love this video as an alternative to your usual Amazon videos (which I still watch). But I love supporting small and have changed to buying mainly from Etsy Shops/small businesses. In 2021, I'm going on a low-buy, but will allow myself to purchase from indie companies
Fully support the idea of buying Christmas gifts and even everyday things from small businesses when you can! Taylor Wynn really inspired me to find local candle makers rather than buying from Target etc.
I wish there was an option for a StoryWorth book in Spanish! :( My boyfriend’s father is getting very old and it would’ve been a great idea, but sadly he doesn’t speak English.
I think the website said it can be in any language! It also mentions that you can edit and translate the questions before they are sent out. I saw this answer on the “frequently asked questions” on the website. Hope this helps☺️
Love the video❤️ I just started my print-on-demand journey and found Crafted Threads. They have a ton of designs and it saved me so much time. They have something in every niche. And lifetime updates too!!
Yappy is great! My sisters little terrier Juno is such an escape artists, so the most asked question in her house is “where’s Juno??” So I ordered her the Where’s Waldo book they offer with an image of Juno and it was so perfect! They loved it and keep it on the coffee table for people to search through when they are over. Also made children’s storybook starring my friends dog Jasper. Jasper passed when my friends daughter was very young, and she always hoped she could have grown up with Jasper. So I made a storybook that her daughter can read about Jaspers Adventures anytime she wanted to see him :)
These are amazing thank you! I ordered the stamp for my sister in law and her fiancé who just bought their dream home and added the personalized make up bag and where it all began to her bridal shower gifts!
The book idea is an awesome gift idea. And the price isn't really bad when you figure how much it costs to print and bind an individual book. Plus they are emailing and compiling the answers year round. I may do this for myself actually. So that it's my life story and I can give it to family.
We’ve done StoryWorth with my parents and my husband’s parents. It really is a great way to learn about their lives! Also, I totally bought the “Raise a Glass” mug for my bro in law.
Holy cow, I have to get the King George mug for myself! Excellent suggestions for gifts and that forest green sweater you're wearing is so perfect for your complexion☆☆☆
I absolutely LOVE this video! Small business gift guide should be an every year thing! Thank you so very much for making this video and sharing the links and the different sites/shops/gift ideas!!
Thank you so much, Jessica! These are all wonderful ideas and I just used your Storyful code to get one for each of my parents for Christmas because I know they will absolutely love it and it will be so fun for everyone to read next year! Love this! Merry Christmas!
We have that Quarter for a cart thing here where I live, it is so people put their carts back. There is only 1 chain in my province that doesn't do it. Also every store you pay for your grocery bags, unless you bring your own, anyways that quarter holder is a good idea.
Thank you for the wishes candle idea!!! My MIL is soooo hard to buy for but she loves Disney. Got her the Grand and Spirit of Aloha for her two fave hotels!! Can’t wait to give to her
You did such a great job Jess! These are great gift ideas and they're very unique and I think people would appreciate them. So helpful. I literally took notes.
My current fiance and I met on Craigslist about 8 years ago. We grew up 250 miles apart but both camped in the same area. As kids we would watch fireworks AT THE SAME LAKE. We never ran into each other as kids but to think we would sit so close and never meet gives me goosebumps . We both have leather keychains with the coordinates to the lake. Who knows, maybe we would have run into each other eventually
Putting a coin in for a trolley (cart I guess) is something you have to do at every super market in the UK. I really like the little aldi coin holder and I think a pound coin is around the same size as a quarter so I’m tempted to find something similar instead of just keeping a pound loose in my bag all the time!
So many brilliant ideas! :) The only one I'm not 100 % sure about is the 'where it all started' for couples. I think one really ought to know them well, otherwise it feels a little like inserting oneself into their relationship.
I love how she said " in ordinary time like I'm in church" BECAUSE she's been saying it in vlogs recently. My catholic butt that hasn't been to church in years was like, did I hear that right? It's like I'm in church. lolol Aside from that I love this video and the shops
Dude! That first map you showed is what I’m getting my husband for our 10th anniversary! The pictures are gorgeous and I can’t wait to get it! And I’m definitely going to look into those puzzles for my toddler! And the Weasley is our King sweatshirt! 😂❤️
Ahahaha! It so funny, the Aldi quarter (here is a Euro). The story of my life, me looking at my husband, him looking at me, we digging through the car and finding a Euro coin for the cart like is made of gold....i got a coin!!! I must get that keychain.
I got my bestie gifts from small stores like these. She got a monogrammed passport holder, luggage tag and clutch and a bracelet with her initial and birthstone
Lol....I'm from the states, but living in Calgary, AB. It's funny to hear you talk about the Aldi carts, because the Walmarts here require you to put a Loonie in to use it.
Etsy seller is bubbleandgeek. Ahhhh, I love them!!! They’re cleverly named and the scents are reflective of the name of the candle. Just....check them out. Lol. 1776/Alexander Hamilton Candle Tins.
This is a fabulous list! Another great place to shop is Uncommon Goods. Handmade items. Made in USA. Supports artists. Give back. Love them💕 Adding some things from Inkwell Threads to my list. LOVE to read. Well poo. Cutoff for Christmas was 12/5.
I ordered the sweatshirt with “just one more chapter” after you mentioned on your vlog. Im looking forward to your vlog with what you have been reading. Great video 🥰 I’m looking at getting the “where it all began” frame. Thank you!
I'm so glad you did this and saved it for referencing as I shop. I want to shop more from Etsy and find it overwhelming so all of these tips are fantastic!!
Hi Jessica, thanks for all those great ideas! I've been enjoying your vlog too! I wanted to tell you, since you said you're a reader and also a Hamilton fan, to read the book "My Dear Hamilton". It's told from the perspective of Hamilton's wife. I think you'll love it! Happy Holiday to you and your family! XO from Minnesota, Stephanie
I'm about to follow so many of these small businesses! I bought the photo map as an anniversary gift to my boyfriend and it's a really nice quality! We're so excited to fill it up!!
Etsy shop owner here! I wanted to mention gifts for the newly engaged! There’s lot of shops (mine included) that make personalized ring dishes. My shop has some sparkly Mickey ones for the Disney lover.
So funny about people's reaction to Aldi requiring quarters. I had the opposite reaction when I moved to the US - being super annoyed that big box stores didn't have that so people just left their carts everywhere rather than returning them and get their chip/coin back. I'm bummed I don't have an Aldi near me even though it's still not the same as back in Germany. Still nostalgic :)
Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!
Okay! I love this video! So many great ideas! I already have my shopping done or my friends but these are great ideas to use for later! And they are so much more meaningful than what I can come up with sometimes! :) So thank you!
I loooove the Aldi quarter! But I’m wondering if our Aldi is run different than yours. When I get to the checkout line, they usually put my stuff in the cart of the person in front of me and take my cart for the person behind me. I’d end up losing the keychain that way 😂
Every supermarket in most European countries has the coin-for-a-cart thing! I was so surprised when you mentioned most of your American friends have never seen that before! It's so people don't steal the carts and so they bother to return them to their cart collection points :)
Great recommendations 😍 I own a small business (Amuze Fragrance) and we also sell on Amazon. But it is a lot more helpful to the small business owner when you purchase from their website or Etsy, because Amazon’s selling fees are extremely high.
RE Today's Vlogmas: WHAT?!! It's a CHEAT DAY?!! I'm watching this while walking ON THE TREADMILL because it's 9 p.m. here almost but I also hadn't yet worked out. OMG you mean I could have gotten off Scott-Free today?!!!! lol
Oh my gosh Jess! I thought I was done Christmas shopping till this, lol. On another note, made my 2.5 miles on the treadmill fly by! Trying to keep up with your Vlogmas fitness challenge! Can't wait for today's vlog!

MaryKate Vadala thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for including Mane Message hair accessories. Means so much to me! I appreciate it. Thank you for supporting small businesses!
Main message . . .Love the clever name and I have long hair so off I go to browse!
Yesss!! I was Sooooo excited to hear Mane Message, I watch both of your channels and am starting a small handmade business on Etsy and I squealed to see your products in this video!!!
It was crazy to see her mention you 😆 My online world coming full circle 😆
omg I cannot wait to get story worth for my mom! she is almost 70, and has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I want to know everything about her while I can, this recommendation means more to me than you know and I had no idea this existed.
The custom address stamp is also a great gift for a wedding shower.
Love this idea, Jessica, but next year, you might consider posting this video a few weeks earlier!! Some Etsy shops have a deadline around the holidays.
I absolutely LOVE the book idea as a gift!! Oh YES!
Casually adds Herbology sweatshirt to cart for myself 👀👀
lol. Same same.
I can’t recommend StoryWorth enough! We bought it for my mom for Mother’s Day 2019, and she bought another year of it without telling us to continue telling her stories. It’s something we’ll all treasure forever.
I love how cozy the background is, especially with your sweater! It makes me want hot cocoa, but alas, I am at work on my lunch break.
Also this is totally the BEST gift guide I've seen all year.
I Love the Aldi Quarter thing. It brings back so many memories. That's great. Thanks for the great video.

Can’t comment on Tyler’s vlog but FYI...if you walk around a zoo for hours pushing a toddler I call that a workout 😂
Yesss!! I was TOTALLY thinking the same thing, plus I'm sure it was longer than 30 minutes, right?? Count it, girl!!!
My thoughts exactly 💯
Thank you so so much! I will be buying one of those books. My daddy passed in 08 when I was 19, so my mama has all the stories of him, her, and their lives together. To have it all in a book and be able to have my kids read about their grandparents would be amazing ❤

This is why Jessica is my favorite UTuber! Thank you for the awesome gift ideas! Affordable but thoughtful. You really helped me out
Just got the storywhorth for my kids grandparents.Thank you for the gifts idea that very meaningful and unique. As soon as I shown your video to my husband and was like......YESSSS
Gorgeous green sweater Jessica, looks beautiful. Makeup is right on too.

I walk away from every one of your vlogmas with a SMILE 😃 you guys are precious

So many great gift ideas!!! I want that Herbology shirt!!! And that Weasley is our king shirt is priceless!!! 😂
Omg my friend owns happily ever threads ❤️ sooooo cool!
This was one of the most creative gift giving ideas videos I've EVER seen
Love the video❤️ I just started my print-on-demand journey and found Crafted Threads. They have a ton of designs and it saved me so much time. They have something in every niche. And lifetime updates too!!
Love this video idea! Please keep doing more of these for other holidays - Valentine’s, moms day, etc

Great gift ideas! Aldi occasionally sells the quarter holders, that’s where I got mine.
please make this a series! You could do it for every season but I loved this 💜
I love this! We totally have the same taste. Major props for highlighting small businesses. I have a lot of web browsing to do now.
I'm about to follow so many of these small businesses! I bought the photo map as an anniversary gift to my boyfriend and it's a really nice quality! We're so excited to fill it up!!

Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!
What a great video for gift giving! I've watched a few and this is the best one by far!
Omg that herbology sweatshirt 💚💚💚

Love this video, TY you so much! Hope you can start a series about new small business & cute things they carry! ❤️
I immediately paused the video and bought the Aldi keychain for my best friend! Love it! Thank you for the suggestion :)
This is the BEST gift guide thank you! I need a part 2!
Immediately ordered several of the Aldi quarter holders for gifts. Such a cute idea! And super thoughtful for fellow Aldi lovers.
Every supermarket in most European countries has the coin-for-a-cart thing!
I was so surprised when you mentioned most of your American friends have never seen that before!
It's so people don't steal the carts and so they bother to return them to their cart collection points :)
As an Etsy seller myself, thank you for promoting these small businesses!!
So many cute ideas! I had no idea that a quarter in a cart was not a known thing? We even have some stores that require a 1$(Canada)
Omg the map where they met 😭❤️ My fiance and I met in Italy so that would be such a cute thing to have!
Thank you for the great ideas. I purchased the book of memories for my Dad.
Great recommendations 😍 I own a small business (Amuze Fragrance) and we also sell on Amazon. But it is a lot more helpful to the small business owner when you purchase from their website or Etsy, because Amazon’s selling fees are extremely high.
Would you please do an updated favorite brushes video? Love to see it. Thanks!
RE Today's Vlogmas: WHAT?!! It's a CHEAT DAY?!! I'm watching this while walking ON THE TREADMILL because it's 9 p.m. here almost but I also hadn't yet worked out. OMG you mean I could have gotten off Scott-Free today?!!!! lol
Lol NO RULES 😂👌👌
Oh my gosh Jess! I thought I was done Christmas shopping till this, lol.
On another note, made my 2.5 miles on the treadmill fly by! Trying to keep up with your Vlogmas fitness challenge! Can't wait for today's vlog!
I got the U.S. photo map as a wedding gift and it's been super fun to fill in. Looks really good in my office too. 😁
Your gift guide was the most thoughtful I’ve seen this year on you tube. Mwah ❤️
OMG that king george mug.... i impulsively bought it for my boyfriend after already having too many gifts for him. The power of ~influencing~ baby!
I love gift giving too! These are great videos for any time of year. Xx
Jessica , I just seen a video of you singing and your amazing...seriously! ❤️
Love this video, it’s like the Etsy version of “Amazon Fav” UA-cam vids
just watched your singing video on youtube (its randomly on my feed) you have great amazing beautiful voice jess!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing gift ideas Jess. Thanks for sharing girl!
I love to read! I read 59 books so far this year! ❤️
