Got to see this when I was in Pittsburgh 6 years ago. I love all the history in Pittsburgh and Philly. Every 3 years my girls and I take a road trip out to PA to visit family.
I’ve lived her going on 6 years. When friends and family come to visit I always take them through the tunnel to downtown and then up to Mt Washington to see the city. That’s the best place to see everything, especially at night. It is a beautiful city. Thank you for sharing your videography of it with the world!
This is actually the one that I remember riding back when I was a "Pittsburg girl". There used to be a fancy French restaurant on top of Mt. Washington called Le Mont. As a young girl, I dreamed of going there but never had the chance. I'm sure that it's long gone now. Thank you for another walk down memory lane.
Awesome shirt. My wife and I took the incline up on Thursday. Beautiful view of Pittsburgh. Then stopped by Blairstown on our way back to New York yesterday. Thanks for the video
@@JPVideos81 I meant the Duquesne Incline specifically. I go to college in Pittsburgh. But we also went to Kennywood for a few hours before we got rained out and received complimentary tickets!
I did enjoy and appreciate all the effort you did in this video...even if the Duquesne Incline was not operating, you took the time to show all you could about it and it's operations. I love the spectacular ending to the video. The views and explanations were spectacular! Thank you very much for all you do.
Nice adventure even if you couldn’t ride up the incline 😊 I appreciate the fact that you took the time and the train and bus to get there - beautiful pictures - that city is huge ! Thank you for sharing this neat adventure 😊💕
Yes, I really appreciate your efforts to deliver this amazing content!!!😁😁😁 And I love the montage! It's so much better in the dark! Thank you, thank you, for this video! I am NEVER disappointed! Take care, my friend. Stay safe, and see you in the next one!!!🙋🏽♀️👍🏽😎🔥😉💙💙💙
I love the effort that you put into your videos. You always make sure that the content is something your viewers would enjoy as well as an experience that you get to enjoy. I love getting to go on new adventures with you. Your videos are so calming and so exciting at the same time lol. Thank you for sharing with us! ❤️
Thanks so much for all you do, JP! I was actually satisfied with the content you first gave us. But for you to go back and get the footage you came for to show us, you’re the G.O.A.T. 😀👍🏾👏🏾 Did they ever say why they got rid of the steps for people to walk up and down outside the incline? Gorgeous views at night and loved the photo montage. And the music to go with it. Perfect.
It’s funny cause I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and was never on the Duquesne incline but rode the Monongahela incline quite a few times! Your photo montage at the end was beautiful. You captured some very pretty photos! Loved it! Thanks for all that you do!
Just a gorgeous spectacular view & montage!! Jay I want you to know you never disappoint wherever you take us no matter the circumstances. Your efforts are always appreciated! We love hanging out with you. This was a WOW! turn out. Thanks my dear friend!🥰😘
Have wanted to do this incline for some time now. Thank you! Please come explore York and Gettysburg some time, this is a great area! Love living here.
Oh my goodness, that is just such a gorgeous night time view! That's too bad that it didn't work out for you at the Duquesne Incline, I felt so bad for you and yes that looked identical to Mr. Roger's trolley! Love it! Love the excellent camera work you did too, looked exactly like we were climbing up the hill. And your photos are so beautiful once again! Thank you so much JP for going out of your way to make such a fantastic video!
Great video JP! I love seeing the history in those old photos and all the cool places you share with us! Pittsburgh is such a beautiful place, I've passed through there and it's ashame we didn't stop and see some of those wonderful things there! Thanks for bringing us along and sharing them with us!
Your videos never disappoint, JP. Thank you for your efforts; beautiful architecture at the Duquesne incline; loved the lights going up the Monongahela incline, and the panorama of the city was thrilling. You are appreciated; God bless! 🌝
Great video I enjoy all your videos though the pittsburgh even more so as my family used to go there every summer. One thing i can't remember if you mentioned in the other incline video was what they did back when they were in "normal" use. Some of the incline's used to actually try and scare people along the walking paths. In order to keep or increase patrons.
Good job, despite it being hors de combat, Jay. Now I _have_ to watch the earlier video. I like the design of the car, too. It has a "clearstory roof," raised above the regular roof for light and ventilation. They've used clearstory roofs on churches and cathedrals since Medieval times. That level car built on a slanted truck design was used on the incline cars in the city where I live, although the downhill frame wasn't as tall as the Duquesne car. In 1901, the hoist house caught fire, spread to the wooden east car, the cable melted through, and sent the car down the incline, where it crashed next to the base station, where the west car was sitting, safe from the fire. The line was operated with just the surviving car for ten years before another was added. Very popular from 1891, when the line was built, until 1939. (BTW, the cars weren't as interesting as the Duquene's.) Stay safe, everybody.
Hi Jay, what a shame the Duquesne incline wasn't operational as I bet that has some awesome views from the top, thank you for showing what you and it was really nice of them to permit that. The views from the top of the other incline though were nothing short of spectacular, the lights looked so pretty twinkling in the night time sky. I loved the photo's you took, they were awesome, thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
Wow! What a fantastic view of Pittsburgh, imagine if the people of 100 years ago could see the present views. What would they think? Great job Jay. Too bad that it didn't work out too well. Maybe an other trip in the future to ride the Duquesne Railway. Great stills also 👊👍
The building with the flickering lights appeared to be One Oxford Centre, which kind of blends in with the BNY Mellon Building in the darkness. When I was a kid in the 1980s, the North Pole Ice Cream building collapsed suddenly one day. I don't remember the details, but I don't think anyone was killed which was remarkable.
I think maybe luck WAS on your side .What does the Incline do when it breaks down ? Stop midway ? yikes ! .......Spectacular night time view ! Thank you for sharing ....love the history of these old places.
According to Fred Rogers' wife Joann, Fred designed his trolly to look like the incline, and other trollies of the day in Pittsburgh, not the other way around.
Interesting fact... Just to the right of the GNY Mellon building in your skyline shot you can see the top of the Grant building. The top of this building has a light that flashes P-I-T-T-S-B-U-R-G-H in Morse code.
Ah, too bad that wasn't working! The incline building looks like it should be in a village in England. You chose an excellent weather evening for adventuring. 🙂

I've done a video on Gettysburg when we had a meetup event there, but would love to return.
My favorite thing about this video is.........your shirt. 👕
I guess the incline/night view were...ok. 😆
😁
Mr. Rogers's trolley was my first guess. The character they have versus more modern units is undeniable.
Mr. Rogers probably modeled his trolley after the incline car.
That's certainly possible
Yes, exactly!

I agree with ya, it's like a hand-held telescope.
You should visit the Carnegie Science Center. You will like it. Nice photos of the city.

The building with the dancing lights is the Oxford Centre Building not the BNY Mellon building. Great video of Pittsburgh at night.
Mr. Rogers was created in Pittsburgh. I would say that the set designer my have taken inspiration from the incline
I think maybe luck WAS on your side .What does the Incline do when it breaks down ? Stop midway ? yikes ! .......Spectacular night time view ! Thank you for sharing ....love the history of these old places.
Good question. I think it broke when it was at the stations.
There is a restaurant in the Santa Cruz area called The Shadow Brook that has an elevator that rides an incline path like this.
According to Fred Rogers' wife Joann, Fred designed his trolly to look like the incline, and other trollies of the day in Pittsburgh, not the other way around.
Glad to hear it had some connection. I realized later that this was here long before the show started. Thanks for the info.
The fare box is what was on the buses.
saw a video from some one who spind 40hours on amtrack because of a trail deraild near by
Fred Rogers was originally from Latrobe and died in Pittsburgh

It does make you wonder. Seems like more than a coincidence.
There is a huge steam boat paddle at the other location. What is the story on that? Cheers
I remember the North Pole ice cream factory.
I came to hear you butcher names. You got Duquesne right, but it is Mon-ong-a-hay-la.
