The Demons are my favorite race in Souls and it’s a damn shame they always get the short end of the stick with copy paste enemies and bosses or just bad ones. The potential was there.
They are a symptom of the hubris the lords had when they first found the souls, in a way the "beginning was a end to everything" by accepting the souls the lords accepted, probably unwittingly the curse, what I mean by this is the souls the lords took remind me of another tale in which a "gift" of untold power was given to a human girl and instead of heeding the advice of the gods she opened this "gift" and released all the evils on to earth and the only thing left in the box after this was hope, the story of Pandora and her box, has a lot of similarities to the lords and the souls they took into themselves, a existences which in a way was locked within these souls kept the world in a state of perpetuity. These souls were likely always in a state like that the lords found them in, but something which wanted a end to this world lit "The Flame" allowing for the souls to kindle and burn bright for the lords to find and by breaking the seal by taking the souls the lords caused the start of the end unless these "souls" are locked back within the the state they were in prior to the games and the lords finding them, but the beings likely responsible for this are almost extinct, the dragons, while beings that wished to "guide" the world, the primordial serpents, have no reason and probably no knowledge on how to remake the seal, as they can guide the world, although they cannot agree on how to guide it.
I feel that the era of demons was always already over in the souls games. So you will only see remnants and "hollowed" demons that seem to be copypasted. They fought against every other race and finally in the end was the pygmies. The "final" final undead to either continue or end all of the cycles.

Cool video! The dark souls history of demons is a fascinating take on the typical evil destructive monsters, and their story really is tragic. Thanks for taking some time to delve into it. I would have loved to see the history of Izalith and timeline of demon events developed a little more in the games
The demons are somewhat of a sad race they fought for all of their Generations the Keep The Fire alive. From Gwinn. The ivory King, The Chosen Undead, Prince lothric and now the Ashen one. Erase misunderstood and was seen as a threat to all people now erased. The only one to stand Witness from the once Glory of their Kingdom and now the most ruined of it. Standing among the rotten Corpses of those he was sworn to protect and when the action one comes and challenges him he fights. Fights with Everlasting flame in him until in the very end even his flame will soon die out.
I wouldnt say exactly that. As the Ashen One mets them, they already lost their flame. Its almost as if we come to give them the final blow and deliver them from their sad agony. I mean, look at the old king. I dont think he was very happy in his boss room, staring for age on the burned corps of his subsject as he endured a very, very slow agony.
it feels like chaos is flame tainted by the dark soul of man or the abyss a twisted perverted dark flame. imagine however the demons if they had gotten ahold of the profane flame..... what madness would that have spawned
Jacob Hoover thats the point its not about what they can naturally manipulate my comment was a what if they had gotten the profane flame and learned to use it or enhance themselves with it weve seen how it twists people who wield it and use it so demons shaped from the bonding of the flames of chaos and the never ending profane flame would be terrifying
From my POV, Izalith witches actually succeed into creating a second flame, because there is no trace of Chaos or Demons being consumed by any form of abyss. Yet, the price to pay, the new life form, was not really accepted.
(this intro actually scared me lol well done!) Nice! I didn't realize the Chaos Flame was being rekindled by the demons! That's really cool. I also, therefore hadn't considered this to be the very reason why the demon race was dying out but now it all makes sense. I also like the idea that Lorian somehow contained the flame within his sword and brought it back with him to Lothric. Though this point I doubt for a few reasons, as well as the notion that Lorian defeated the demons and embraced Lothric's curse. Regarding how the Chaos Flame died. I believe the Bed of Chaos was the main source and outpouring of chaos; and when we killed it in DS1 that brought about the slow decay of the demon race. What remained of the flame was shared amongst the demon's themselves but they could not fully rekindle nor heal from this defeat. As per the duplicitous nature of Lothric and everything presented in DS3... I think Lorian's legend is similar to Artorias. Maybe he defeated the Demon Prince. But he clearly didn't slay him as we were the ones who accomplished this feat. There is room for both events being true, in that it mentions Prince, singularly, tho we defeated the Twin Demon Princes. Perhaps there was another Demon Prince we never met. Or, in slaying one, he thought he was victorious, returning to Lothric, not realizing the twin was alive somewhere and revived the slayed prince. Also, neither here nor there, but I find it a strange parallel that there are Twin Demon Princes and Twin Princes of Lothric, can't figure that riddle out if there's one to figure out... Moving forward, I do not believe an honorable and victorious Lorian would come home and say, "hey brother, now that I've accomplished this great deed, I want to embrace your curse, fully crippling and 'muting' myself in the name of betraying our royal cause." It just doesn't sit right. Consider Rosaria's firstborn having taken her tongue. I believe it's a similarly dark truth in this case. Look at Lorian's crown, we see a serious horizontal indent, crease, that actually goes deep into the skull. Furthermore, this is structurally intentional in the make of the helm. He also isn't necessarily "crippled", in the sense that his legs don't work. He doesn't stand, sure, but he visibly moves his legs, and he crawls on all fours. He is "muted", but he has a tongue, and he rears his head in a wordless, growling battle-cry. Very suspicious to me... I believe Lothric had his brother's brain severely damaged to render him weak and mindless. The name Lorian means "honorable/victorious". Lothric means "unwilling king". Lastly, the description for Lorian's set reads: "Lorian, raised as a knight, is to have been left mute and crippled by his younger brother's curse. It is also that Lorian, in fact, wished it so." We all know at this point, we need to really question what has been , versus what actually took place, especially in DS3, when intrigue and betrayal are a major theme of the plot. Thank you once again for your work Mr. Hollow. As always, my input is done with love and the highest respect.

Great video, really love that comparision with humans it gave it a fresh perspective. Chaos demons are fantastic lore-wise although it's really sad that they had to rush the development of DS1 leaving them kinda boring, but with absolutely amazing Khmer-inspired architecture and everything. And with DS3 Demon Ruiins being one of the worst locations in the game, pretty dull and not interesting, because it does not capture that fantastic feeling of open space Izalith that could have been finally flashed out. It really feels like deities, humans and everyone hates demons even From Soft themselves haha
I feel like the bat wing demons were actually just an illusion of gwyndolin. When you kill them they have the same fading death animation as gwynevere and the silver knights as opposed to leaving an actual corpse like man- serpents in sens fortress or most other enemies in the game.
I actually have a video somewhere on my channel, where I theorize they could be Silver Knights who were affected by Chaos when Gwyn went to war with Izalith.
Probably never... a part of me wants DS4 so bad what they could do with it? Maybe it would be a prequel of them fighting the ancient dragons ... but the sad reality is DS4 would kill it I hope it never happens... praise the sun! ☀️
In a sort of- because he claimed the Flame of Chaos as his spoils, it became his “duty” to rekindle it and bring about a new age for Demonkind. And his act of refusal was a mirror of his brother. Or perhaps, because rekindling the Flame of Chaos became his “duty” as its “inheritor” he rejected it in an attempt to finally wipe out the Demons, and “taking on his brother’s curse” was meant as the responsibility of Rekindling. Maybe seeing the effect that Refusing had on Lorian, Lothric became disillusioned with the whole concept of Rekindling and thought to better to just let it all fade.
@@TheAshenHollow You seem like you were affected by my comment. I just thought it was well produced, but I found the dialogue kinda silly in a fan-made not really tapping into the same creative spark as the actual makers of the game-kind of way. It was hard to listen at the end when he yells "demon", and it literally made me cringe. Maybe it's because I'm retarded and I don't know what "irony" means.
They always call the daughters: the daughters of chaos. What if the daughters weren’t actually the witch of izaliths daughter by... ‘traditional means?’ What if the daughters were actually female/maiden/human followers of the witch of izalith?
Maybe then, the witch of izalith became the bed of chaos and as time went on a power gap needed to be filled and that’s when the demon king came to be?
I would love to see an animation of izalith in its prime how the city was how the demons interacted with one another how they forged there weapons etc with no lore spoilers just demons doing demon things 🤓

waht if lorian's taking of the demon's flame is his way of taking on his brother's curse.
HOLY FUCK THATS A GOOD INTRO
Who was the first demon?
Maybe the witches themselves
The Demon Firesage was! =D
@@TheAshenHollow Firesage according to the game, ceaseless according to Miyazaki
the first chaos seem s arguably better than the first flame.
Was the voice at the beginning an actual character in one of the games, that I didn't ever find? Or is it just a voice over someone did for you?
Just me and my GoXLR! =]
who did the opening bit? it amazing
Me! Thanks! =D
And they named him... the Doom Slayer *dododododo dododododo....
Joke aside tho, awesome video man!
Wow that intro was both well done and really cringy.
The irony of using the word "cringy". o_O
@@TheAshenHollow How? I don't see the irony. I'm just pointing out something I see. xD
I know you don't see the irony, my guy. I know.
You're good dude, lol. I'm jusy saying it's cringy to say something is cringy. It's... a conundrum.
Holy crap that intro tho
They always call the daughters: the daughters of chaos. What if the daughters weren’t actually the witch of izaliths daughter by... ‘traditional means?’ What if the daughters were actually female/maiden/human followers of the witch of izalith?
Maybe then, the witch of izalith became the bed of chaos and as time went on a power gap needed to be filled and that’s when the demon king came to be?
As below, so above
Could the demon prince be son of bed of chaos.
All demons are sons and daughters of the Bed of Chaos! =]
I would love to see an animation of izalith in its prime how the city was how the demons interacted with one another how they forged there weapons etc with no lore spoilers just demons doing demon things 🤓
That'd be pretty dope!
Who is the character who speak at the intro
What is the into monologue from??
Just me changing my voice with the GoXLR! =]
Pretty cool. =)
Deathwing does voice overs now???
My rage bellowed through the cavernous deep! Or whatever he said! ;)
