Hi I recently bought a alexandrine but I don’t know is it old or young the guy sold me the parrot told its 16 weeks old can I get any help from you thanks
There are several components to house training a parrot. One place I discovered that successfully combines these is the Parrot Ploy Plan (google it if you're interested) definately the most incredible resource that I have ever heard of.Check out the great info .
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to uncover how do you train a parrot try Parrot ploy plan (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy got excellent results with it.
Jessy, the fact that you not only realize when you've made even a tiny mistake but you always say so. Then you take all the pressure off and finish with a huge reward. Lovely to see you with your critters!
Totally! You can see him looking up at Jessi like "Excuse me... I thought I had trained you to give me a treat every time I turn. I guess we're going to have to keep working on this behavior."
Haha! Hes so smart and does so much begging! It's so hard not to reward him for offering a behavior without me asking first (which just leads to impatience and frustration).
Jesse I’ve been wanting to say that watching your videos these last few years motivated me to give my animals in a lab at my university the best care I can when I started working with them this semester. It made me eager to learn about their personalities and bodies :)
Kemosabe in bird form!! :) I could listen to those little chirps all day. :D I love these videos and if I ever have parakeets again I would try training. :) - Heidi
Your first video on my search for Alexandrinr parakeet and I fell on your magnificent zapper. I was with my daughter and 2 grand sons this morning at a pet shop and saw an alexandrine which I fell in love with. I had a smile when I saw you train him with a clicker because that is what I used with my dog!
Just got a 8 months old today , I'm letting him settle on his new environment and human. But I'll be visiting your tutorials a lot. I've had parrots all kinds but it's always good to know the specifics for each species. Thanks for the tutorial
Who would've thought the tail would just molt off during a video XD pretty cool to see molting happen live! Usually a parrot owner just takes about it, I didn't know it happens so suddenly like that.
It's basically just how some parrots express their excitement, and get some of that energy out. Like a dog that chases their tail when they get excited. ^_^
Absolutely love it, Jessi. I'd say my only complaint would be how he's biting the stick rather then just touching it because it could accidentally get you aggression on cue but it doesn't look like it's a problem for you but it is something for viewers that want to try touch training to be aware of. Be very aware of how your bird is touching the stick, you totally can get over-stimulation and aggression and several emotions on cue so be very aware of how your bird is feeling when they touch the stick and try your best to not let them bite the stick. It helps to hold it out of the bird's reach and then bring it in just within their reach. I'm pretty sure Birdtricks UA-cam Channel had a bird touching it with their tongue, too funny! Loved meeting Zapper, I haven't seen him yet! He's such a great training student, I'm a little jealous!
omg when he accepts the almond at the end. I love this video, it's great to see content where it seems people truly care about the animals well being, and engagement. Great content, made my day
You are sooooo amazing ♥️ I have an Alexandrine Parakeet & I've been sick worried about how much he was molting .. I found your channel last night & I've been binge watching your videos ever since!!! & I have to say, you're my saviour 🤗 Thanks a lot 🙏🏾
I could watch her train ALL SAY! What I wouldn't have gemucen for this kind of animal behavior retaining availability when I was college age 30 years ago. I could have made my life's passion my work as well. She is dauntless in her cheerful efforts, creativity and true connection with all sorts of animals.
They are smart, there are a lot of those beautiful birds here in amsterdam, I allways hear them when biking through or outside of the city. If you arrange food on the balcony, you can see them from very close!
As a kid I had a parrot which looked like urs and I tell him to do a trick without forcing it or giving it a treat as a reward cause we took good care of it
Amazing he took better to ya finger good . Bless him i have just landed on same bird he in bad shape . On road to recovery how long before he trusts me
What treats I can give to my sun conure and I must always have food in her cage or I must take it from a little time to make her need my treats? ty 🙏 😊
I used to have an Indian Ringneck Parakeet, although on a fateful day, it escaped it's cage, I hadn't rescued it or bought it, I had found it on my garden. I did not have a chance to tame it or have it trust me.
I have an Alexandrine Parakeet, he is very smart and can speak Hindi (Official Indian Language) and if I put him on my finger than , he will say, "I have done, I want seeds" (in Hindi) and if you want to make him to sit on your shoulder, than you have to give him a thin slice of guava. I am not sure if it is every Alexandrines' favorite, But I do know that much that Pierre (my parakeet) loves Chili & guava seeds, thin slices of apple and guava and sometimes mango and banana.
I've taught my cat to sit, stay, touch, give me her paw, and spin with a clicker. I really see her responding to it! The other night after dinner I was trying to get her to give me her paw without a clicker and she was completely ignoring me but when I brought it out she immediately focused, even though I didn't bring out treats that time.
I had an alexendrine parakeet but in india it's illegal to keep them so I took it to ELA foundation and they freed him, it's good for him that he is in the jungle right now but I miss him a lot, he was like my small brother and his name was "ok", he was a 2 year old, zapper reminds me of him
I have owned a cockatiel previously, and after about 3 wonderful years with her she passed away. It’s been 3 years since she passed and I think I’m ready to offer a home to another bird. I have been thinking about what bird would be suitable for me, I have a lot of space and a lot of free time, so I have been thinking about getting a Hahn’s or Illiger’s macaw. I’ve also been thinking of an Alexandrine Parakeet. Does anyone have suggestions?
I’ve got two indian ringneck that i’ve bought, one is a two year old girl, and one is a boy of which is 6 months both untamed. They are both in the same cage. It’s been about two weeks now since i’ve had them however i’m unable to interact with them as when I go near them the boy starts flying around which I think also scares the older girl away. I am sometimes able to feed them would you recommend separating them to tame them or not.
Really liked the video with the alexandrine. I have a male one myself and found this very useful. I was wondering if you had any other videos for training him. Mine is brilliant and well behaved. I can get him to come in and out his cage when i want him to ect. We have his full trust but struggling to get him on a hand as he will just fly. I have had him 2 years now and he still wont. He will walk along sofa to us ect but wont come on us
Hi, he's so cute. So listen, I have one of those in our house. She just came here one day and never left. Been like 10 years now. She only likes me, and let's only me to pet her. We just give her the food we eat, rice and whatnot. Any special tips you can give?
have a great day everyone 😁
Thanks, you too! 💕

His head spins are so fun- what a clever, beautiful boy!
My first thought: wow, his tail is super long.
Two minutes in: omg, it fell off!!!!
supernovabay true AF
Me too. 😂
Lol
@@sunshine5668 once you're parrot or macaw loses his feathers, you can use the feathers as decorations for headdress 😊
He's so excited his tail feather fell out
hahahahahah
We know
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oh my gosh. What a good boy. How cute and smart he is.
Nothing more glorious would ever be captured on camera than Zapper's tail feather falling off!
🤣😂 agree
He's like "stop talking i want to touch the stick!!"
So cute, even if he doesn't, we appreciate the explanations!
4.48 : he turns round on the perch on his own 🤣

He sounds like a little Pokémon. I love him so much. 🥰🥰🥰
He's was so eagerly looking at the hand that gave him treats
Every time it came near him.
That was so awesome to watch a whole training session like that. Definitely would enjoy seeing that with other animals.
Looks like him and you are having a great training day, so cute! I love how healthy your birds are, so engaged and understood by you.
What a jam-packed episode! Thank you for sharing Zapper with us. I love all the little noises he makes and how clear he communicates.
Kemosabe in bird form!! :) I could listen to those little chirps all day. :D I love these videos and if I ever have parakeets again I would try training. :) - Heidi
He's absolutely gorgeous and so intelligent! It was almost like he instinctively knew what you wanted him to do.

Zapper is such a good and talented boy! I wish new hires at my job were as easy to train, lol.
I also have an alexandrine parakeet who died in 29 March 2021 this week and he lived with us for 4 years I love him alot

@@lightofeyezz He stuck an iron stuff in his throat by which he didn't eat or drink for one day for which he died the next day

@@TheCassafrassTree Thank you!
He is so precious. Zapper is very cute! You are an excellent bird trainer. I have a cockateil & a Canary Winged Parakeet. 🖤🕊️
These are just so heart warming. Jessi, your passion for animals is infectious in the best way.
What a cutie! He's so into you and playing new games! 💕

He's STUNNING. Beautiful colors.
He's just like my bird, loves treats but I don't think any actually ends up in their mouths
Actually the nut shell falls off and he eats the inside of it, I think
I am adopting a baby lovebird from a rescue soon! I'm very excited, and I'm going to try and teach her the circle motion and recall!
Good Job, Zapper and Jesse.
Zapper is so lovely!!Such a quick learner!
I love how she throws in random facts about how to do something or about the animal
Been waiting for one of your uploads animal wonders!
Great job in training Jessi....Zapper is so adorable too:) Thanks so much:)
He heard you talking about turning around so he jettisoned that huge tail feather to become more maneuverable.
His engaged and happy sounded are wonderful
He sounds like Kemosabe.
I'd love to hear them having a conversation
Ya
That was amazing! Was so much fun to watch!
At 4:45 when she is talking zapper moves 360° hoping for treat. Poor noi 😂😂😂😂😭😓😂
This video is awesome please post more vids on birds and training sessions with them!
He's a beautiful bird. I own both Alex's and ringnecks and although I love both my Alex's really capture my heart.
At the end he was like "will you stop moving please I am doing dangerous stuff here, human !"

Beautiful bird. Adorable sounds.
it's been forever since I've seen zapper good to see him doing well
When his tail feather just flopped out
I like how both of your cloth's color match

I also had one. But he died 3 days ago. He was 27 years old and lived a very happy life. He used to talk a lot.
What a smart bird! Great job!
I love how talkative Zapper is.
I like this parrot ! Easy and friendly !!!
They r very adorable.. I love them so much.. I have a pair since they were little .. They r very affectionate..💖💖💖

Hi what food do Alexandrine parrots like this most as their treats?
AHHH I love his little boops!!
What are you feeding him
Wow, I’m so proud of Zapper!
He loves making you happy!
Zapper and Kemosabe make the cutest sounds. They're interestingly similar

Which food you giving to parrot
Love your work, I have a green cheek conure and would love to start teaching him some tricks, what’s a good treat I can give him to encourage him?
His tail is crazy!! How do you find a travel carrier and even a cage that he can fit in comfortably without damaging his tail?
You put the perch up closer to one end of the carrier haha. It's also quite flexible
I had an alexendrine parakeet but in india it's illegal to keep them so I took it to ELA foundation and they freed him, it's good for him that he is in the jungle right now but I miss him a lot, he was like my small brother and his name was "ok", he was a 2 year old, zapper reminds me of him

What you are giving him as training foods
Nobody:
Not a single soul:
Zapper: "You spin me right round, baby, right round
Like a record, baby, right round, round, round"
It's cool seeing someone using some of the tactics birdtricks uses
I'm in love with he laser pew pew sounds
can you say me plz what are you feeding him ? the seeds are you feeding here to the parrot
His little chatter is so cute 🥰❤
