Thanks for sharing updates on what you've been using. My son is 7 and in second grade but i love grtting ideas from your channel of things to look at for the future!
I'm impressed at how much you got done during the summer! I would love to be a year round homeschooler, but one child is in public school and the other refuses to do anything if he is not in school. I bought kitten math at the same time as I bought Telling Time from the same creator. Looking forward to using it next year. Thanks for the video.
I actually didn’t want to homeschool this summer to the level that we did 🤣 but I had several units that I wanted to do that we didn’t have time for in our normal school year.
I love the idea of Torchlight and the book lists are superb; however, I have tried to implement it nearly every year and we can never get with the flow. My kiddo said this year - "oh are we going to do fits and starts with Torchlight again?" HAHAHA! I do take pieces and parts though. Thank you for your updates how things played out for you this summer! I really appreciate all the resources you share.
Scattered is a theme for Torchlight Curriculum I feel like. Their curriculum has such good bones but I rarely see it work out for people in the long run. Thanks so much for your reviews!!!!
I know from previous videos that you've done IEW for writing. How do you feel the Exploring the World Through Story works with the skills and process they learn in IEW for the writing part? Is the approach completely different or can they take what they learn in IEW and apply it here without feeling like they're ignoring other instructions?
I felt like it complemented IEW well. It didn’t use keyword outlines. The first half was spent building sentences in different ways using The Writing Revolution style. Then they worked on intro and concluding sentences. Then topic sentences. Then expanding those with examples. Then revising to include more interesting or detailed words. Then editing. I don’t think that it clashed with IEW at all.
I am curious how you structure your year. How many days a year do you school? It seems like you use a lot of curricula, how do you have time to do extras like these in summer?! We do about 172 days a year and we rarely even get all of our regular stuff done 🙃.

Editor in chief, math, etc my kids did daily all summer. Last year I planned too much and had to drop Torchlight halfway through. This past year we did school 36 weeks for our main school year.

The younger grade paleontology from H&S is definitely secular. Just FYI for viewers.
Thank you! I also have the secondary level and it appears to be secular as well.
