Mike your comment about the Canada fires is insensitive. I live in the western US and deal with wildfire smoke and destruction every year. Believe me, wildfires are not simple.
I like the Laveo but the cartridges take up space and would seem to be expensive to operate. I’d opt for an OGO composting toilet for longer off-grid time. The Laveo is really cool though and I may get one in my Embassy SL or Cape Cod. Thanks for the Embassy tour by the way.
I LOVE this, however...the cost is still very high at the moment for anything other than occasional campers. I am hoping that once this catches on and more people buy them, then the cost will go down.
Story chasing did a great side by side break down of the cost of this toilet vs others. I highly recommend watching it. Although this toilet solves all the RV black tank woes, it will forever be a cost to maintain. Those bags can be very pricey for an average person. I'd like to also mention that a giant bag of horse pellets is cheap and turns pee into saw dust.
Interesting story about the dry flush toilets. Question: so now the black tank is no longer in use. Can it be replaced or connected to the gray tank or an additional water tank added?
my thoughts on replacing a traditional RV toilet would be to add a gate valve and turn the black tank into a gray tank like most people do when they converted over to a composting toilet.
Though pricy, I gotta say, this toilet would be great for boondockers, especially; reduced weight and water worries while off grid. Mike and Jen, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Y'all Be Safe!
I agree. The idea of the toilet is great, but disposing of human waste in what amounts to a Mylar balloon inside of a plastic bag seems like furthering damaging an already fragile environment.
The toilet sounds easy and nice to use for a carefree consumer however, I wonder about the waste. A 25 flush foil wrapped non-biodegradable package carelessly going to a landfill seems environmentally irresponsible to those concerned with sustainable living. A composting or incineration toilet seems a more natural option. We are to tread lightly on the earth…
I agree. That is what I was thinking about as well: pooping into the equivalent of mylar balloons that you then put in a plastic bag to dump into a landfill.
I have a question about dry flush toilet that I think you forgot to ask that is the most important. How do you clean around the top inside of the bowl. Men can spray urine or not be a good aim and some people have loose bowels and could have explosive #2 for example some food not agreeing with you and you need to run to the toilet. We all have been there. Usually we clean the toilet with pine sol and comet to give a good cleaning. I’m sure this toilet needs to be cleaned. ?????
At first I thought you were joking but apparently not... Do you really blame the Canadian firefighters because they are not fast enough, or because there are not enough of them? Could the giant wildfires be caused by climate change? And could it be that part of the climate change is due to people who don't seem to care about burning thousands of gallons of fuel for their own enjoyment in their RV?... And you still blame the Canadian firefighters...
Yes, in mylar which is terrible! At this point in time it is shameful to put out a new product that is so damaging to the Earth! Mylar is made from plastic nylon sheets with a metallic coating and will never biodegrade!
Excellent product review. I just told my wife that I put a toilet in my Amazon wishlist for Christmas. Hmm…I never thought I’d be typing those words. Anyway, thanks for a great solution for a problem we’re facing for our future RV of choice, the Newmar Canyon Star toy hauler.👍🏼😎
As always, thanks for your podcast. I always enjoy listening to you guys! I think the new RV toilet is the bomb, I bet a lot of folks will be switching out for this…keep up the good work….Lisa
Uh oh! Mylar? Not biodegradable or compostable. More landfill with human waste that is not treated. Coming soon to your local landfill along with all of the disposable diapers. Great concept, but bad for the environment. Maybe they can get rid of the Mylar material and replace with something else. Super wasteful to use this just for urine. Perhaps a urine only capture option to avoid using the mylar bags.
HORRIBLY EXPENSIVE & NATURE POLLUTING These LAVEO dry toilets create so much unnecessary, long-lasting, non-biodegradable waste that will clog-up our already overflowing landfills, that are permanently polluting our countrysides and water aquifers. And at over $1 a flush, how much is this going to cost a family or a couple to use monthly and yearly? Just 2 people in an RV will probably pay over $100 a month (!) and more than $1,200 a year (!), just to use their highly wasteful and polluting toilet. And for a family, the costs really are prohibitive!!! MUCH BETTER ALTERNATIVES There are much better alternatives available, such as the TRELINO waterless, urine separating toilets, that are a lot cheaper to use, very easy to clean and dispose of waste with biodegradable trash bags, and much less polluting. Mike & Jennifer, you really should look into and review more ecologically responsable alternatives...
That lava can help you toilet is awesome! $900 for that people will pay it they’ve almost sold 1 million today yes that’s definitely the wave of the future I will definitely be getting this when I get an RV!!

I have a no water toilet. It’s a five gallon bucket and commode bags 😉.
Thank you for reviewing the electric toilet. Please also investigate the INCINERATOR toilet so popular in Europe.
Those are veeeery expensive and they uses aloooot of power
I checked out this waterless toilet. It looks great, however, after checking out the cost of the cartridges I think they’re pretty expensive.
We have a folding toilet with the bags (with absorbent pads). It folds up great, and we just use it where we don't have the space.
I use a defunct portable toilet, 8 gallon trash bags and pine bedding pellets. Works great and cheap.

Yes, great for boondockers. And the more "self-contained" people are, the safer they are.
Good one at 14:18, "One of the doodies 💩 I took on" 🤣
Toilet's system is interesting, but that foil seems to generate more permanent waste. More pollution.... don't we have enough?
I agree. The idea of the toilet is great, but disposing of human waste in what amounts to a Mylar balloon inside of a plastic bag seems like furthering damaging an already fragile environment.

That was exactly the first thing I thought about - landfill and non-biodegradable ...

Lol good old Elkhart. Lived there for 50 years. Moved to get away from Elkhart air pollution and ground superfund sites.
Is Ronnie looking for someone to accompany them to Ga. or drive it to Ga.
We’ve been using a Laveo in our Embassy Dolphin for almost a year and like it very much. No black tank for us!
I will not be following you anymore. I’m a proud Canadian and we are trying very hard to put out the fires we have multiple countries helping .
Mylar is not bio degradeable ?????

$2/flush, this guy is insanely rich.
in this system you are still placing the end product in a landfill?

"cairn" is pronounced "carn"
This is a home run
