Talk 1: Lunchtime with the Irish Peatland Conservation Council - Introduction to Irish Peatlands

Lunchtime with the Irish Peatland Conservation Council is a series of nine peatland talks that are designed to allow you the viewer, as a member of the public or peatland custodian, explore and discover peatland habitat and biodiversity, the benefits peatlands offer us all and shares methods used to complete a peatland habitat condition assessment, monitor species and restore peatland habitat. This first talk introduces the three main types of peatland in Ireland including raised bog, fen and blanket bog habitat, their conservation status and provides examples of actions that the Irish Peatland Conservation Council are campaigning for to ensure a representative sample of peatland habitat is conserved for people today and future generations to enjoy. Lunchtime with the Irish Peatland Conservation Council was made possible with funding support from the Community Foundation for Ireland through their Biodiversity Fund 2020 and the charity are going virtual with support from the Irish Environmental Network.
