Since it’s rainy season, I’d splurge on 3-4 full grown trees ( palm or ?) to plant in your yard near the house. Seedlings/ small trees take forever to get large so that is why I am suggesting planting a couple full grown trees with a “root ball” wrapped in burlap. These “tree shops” or garden shops will usually deliver them for a small fee. 5 years ago I had 2 mature coconut trees planted at my place. They’re doing great.

    • @LifeinThailand777

What did you pay for a mature tree William? 🙏

"forever" depends on the kind of plant and some other things. In out garden we saw the first mango after 10 years and the first coconut after 7 years, but some other plants almost immediately have fruits like guava or pomegranate.

@@LifeinThailand777 I don't recall but I was surprised how cheap it was and the fellows planted the trees for me which was part of the "transportation cost".

Mate enjoy it. You've never seen how beautiful it is. We have 52 rai. It's hard work. Wait until harvest. Hard work again. You don't know the work that goes on in maintaining it let alone harvest with a sikle to make sure your got it all

I’ve helped out with my in-laws rice last two years, they have about 40 rai. I know it’s brutal. Once we harvest this lot in December we will probably do 1 or 2 rai and then plant fruit trees. We just needed to do something this season 🙏

  • @fondavesthailandadventures5366

Jasmine 105, got to agree.....Yum, yum and the smell. The rain gods are smiling on you and held off just in time.

Oh Ben, Ben, Ben! You can't drop a teaser that you've researched the best tasting Mango varieties and NOT tell us which they are! Would be interested to know, as we'll be planting some when we visit our plot in November. Planning on planting lots or variety of trees around our border well before we start building, so they're nicely established when we start living there.
Thanks for keeping us up to date with life, videos are entertaining & informative as always...

We have a self-sustaining ourself also in Isaan , between Ubon and Sisaket ( about 10 rai ). We started 6 years ago and now the trees are staring to produce decent fruits. I have a few video's on my channel from a few years ago. Could give you a few tips about the do's and dont's in Thai farming...555. Also always welcome if you want to come take a look at our farm and a few Leo's... Love to see your enthusiasm for making this journee work !!! Keep up the good works and nice video's !!

I've just seen some good videos , Indonesia, china where they grow rice together with fish. Benefits, fish eat insects and feed the plants with good nutrients and no chemicals. One video said a 20% yield increase and of course plenty of big plump fish. Win win .
I asked my Thai wife why I haven't seen this in Thailand, she said the fish won't survive - people will take . Sad if true but my question is does anyone do this in Thailand ?
