  • Gorubathan is a small but beautiful village in Kalimpong district of West Bengal. It lies 61 Km north east of Siliguri and takes about two hours to reach here.In this episode I am exploring Upper Fagu (1550 ft AMSL)which is about 3 km ahead of Gorubathan.
Long time ago Bhutanese herdsmen used to supply Ox in bulk from Bhutan to Kalimpong. The lush plain pastures of upper Fagu and the river Chail served as the ideal spot for halt en route before proceeding ahead towards Kalimpong. Their herd used to graze in the rich pastures and drink water from river Chel. Thus, the place obtained its name "Gorubathan" form this practice. "Goru" meaning Ox and "Bathan" meaning Herd in Nepali language.
The crystal clear water of river Chail, miles and miles of tea gardens, lush green pastures and beautiful landscape attract visitors almost throughout the year.
This is definitely a place you should visit if you are travelling near Siliguri or Darjeeling.
Though this was a unplanned trip I enjoyed it thoroughly and couldn't hold myself from posting this video. Hope you like it..
Thanks ever so much for all your love and support.
