not all of them do, it's more common in recent soviet designs as they're much smaller and need to poop out shells to save space as their tankers are already cramped up without the empty casings
Mostly those Russian tanks and auto loaded tanks, I think tanks like the Abrams have their loader place the empty shell back into the compartment it was.
@@ghostofqueenelizabethii Western tanks shell casing vaporize when fired. Its made out of cellulose which turn to smoke you see leaving the barrel. Only the small primer cap remains and it gets collected and recycled for new shells.
