Picked up a pair of 188cm Mavericks the year they came out, and absolutely love them. Nothing they can't handle, quick, agile, while stable at speed...they crush.
I’m such a sucker for what I hear online. I picked up a pair of 2023 Maverick 100 ti 188cm at my local shop for $350. Trying to fill quiver between some Brahma’s and BC 120’s. 6’5” 220 naked. Wanted to ski that carves well but I can head out to chunky steeps and stuff without trenching. Fingers crossed. Could bring my self to size skinnier.
I rented a pair of maverick 95’s in park city this year and they were great! I ended up buying a pair of 88 ti’s and love them! You can’t go wrong with this pair of ski’s. I love these reviews and the music 😊
New sub. Awesome review. Honest, and to the point. After watching, I ordered the 95 ti for looser days and ungroomed stuff. Home mountain is Sugarloaf Maine. Best mountain in the east. I’m an old former instructor that got back into skiing after a long break.

Just spent a few days on the Maverick 95s in Whistler. Actually had seen this video prior. While Whistler was a bit on the icy side (much more than normal I heard) the Mavericks did absolutely everything I needed them to do and they were super fun and friendly. They had some issue holding an edge in the icier spots but when the bottom of "GS Run" freezes over that's a tall order. They even surprisingly handled some of the crud well, as long as you really forced that sharp edge into it. Your advice on keeping weight on the downhill ski is absolutely spot-on for this ski. Had previously tried the Maverick 88s and got tossed around a bit, but i feel my weight got too backseat. Did everything differently with the 95s and was rewarded. Agree that the 88s are snappier and overall a bit more fun. I also think they could've handled everything at Whistler except for the super deep stuff. Own Kendo 88s but am so tempted to get a pair of the 88 Mavericks (at a good price) as they're slightly more fun and effective at slower speeds. Both of these skis make you better but in different ways.
Skied the 100 back to back with the Kore 105, the Head was better in nearly every regard. They were similarly (not very) damp but the Kore was more stable, more maneuverable, less demanding, and the better carver. What's the point of a light metal ski if it doesn't give you any of the benefits associated with metal? If you want a light ski there are WAY better options
Hi Elliot, thanks for making the review. I'm deciding between maverick 95ti 172 and blizzard rustler 9 168. I'm a 173cm 65kg man. I'm an advance skier can carve blue runs and comfortable on red runs (can control my speed), can handle black diamond when the snow coverage is good. I'm buying skis for my next japan trip. I have demoned the maverick and liked it a lot (in New Zealand with minimal snow falls). I didn't have chance to test the rustler 9. I'm wondering which one is more suitable for Japan conditions, if I'm mainly sticking to on piste (at least for next year, but think i will try to explore some side country in future)?
Hi Elliott, great review as always. very keen to get the 95 for europe skiing. But i have a really old pair of Dumont twin tips 86mm (2011 i think). not sure if its worth getting the the 95, any advice please?. (ski only 25 days maybe in Europe and the rest indoors) (i do like switch skiing too). I saw your review on the bent 110 and wondering if thats better considering i have the Dumont 86 already. I'm one of the "all the gear and no idea" kinda guys lol
i would just say the softer conditions the wider the ski.. also big mountain when you can get away from the people it is nice to have wider skis.. when i got back into skiing after 20 years my first pair were 88s and i thought they were wide..
Totally I had the same thought after I went from race skis to the vantages years ago. I would say having skied in the Eastern US and West, I don't think it's totally a softness thing, maybe more of a volume thing, because most soft days the 88's are fine, but more than 3 feet I want something wider, some combination of total inches and weight of the snow perhaps?
@@RicketySkiReviews For the most part the snow we get in Colorado is soft and fluffy but you get the ice underneath and it turns to crud pretty fast.. I would say there are a couple different approaches to skiing crud.. You can have a heavy ski that blasts through it and you can have a lighter more reactive ski that kind of bounces around.. Narrower skis will do more slicing through it.. I guess there are a lot of different approaches..
Totally, I'm in the west as well, just totally depends on the night time temp, grooming, and out here some of the wind; we get heavy winds and it keeps the snow fluffy but if the wind is still it turns to crud pretty quick.
@@RicketySkiReviews I renamed Breckenridge to Breaking Wind;) Sometimes that wind can smooth out the crud.. I know a guy who will change skis mid day as the conditions change..
I know this video is 11 months old but I have a question. I currently own the Maverick 95Ti as a wider Sugarloaf Maine ski. I’m looking to replace my tradional carving ski and was wondering if it’s worth buying the Maverick 88ti to along side of my 95Ti and use them on the firmer snow days or am I really missing out on anything that the 95Ti doesn’t provide? Hi there! I just wanted to stop in and say I’m really enjoying your videos and purchased the Atomic Maverick 95TI 2023 after doing a lot of research. Went with a package on Evo for 600 for skis and bindings Marker Griffin 13 ID , hope they work well! I live in the mid west so wanted decent carving skis for ice-y groomers and planning a few trips to CO so want skis that will work well in powder. Thanks for the informative videos. If you are looking for videos that viewers want I’d be very interested in a “great deals” video like you did for Skis for winter jackets and gloves…if you have any desire in that. Thanks again! ⛷️
Hey Elliott, Thanks for doing these reviews. I was wondering what your favorite length is in the Maverick? I am going to purchase the 88. My options are 176 or 184. I ski primarily in the Midwest and have been skiing my whole life. I do venture out west quite a bit. I am 5'9, 195 lbs. Your imput would be greatly appreciated Thanks JJ
That's totally up to personal preference and what kind of turn shapes you like. I think either of the lengths you listed would be a good fit for you on that ski. Me personally I'm 6'1" and 240lbs, and I ski the 176 because I like the snappy turns. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching!
Love the review. Im 5'10 and around 178lbs, former slalom race who moved out west. looking at the maverick 95tis, and i stuck on what length whether I go a little short at 172cm or a little longer at the 180cm?
Thanks for the non-bias reviews on skis. I’m in Denver and ski mainly Winter Park, Steamboat, Copper and Crested Butte (for the steep stuff). I’m looking for a good around ski near-ish to 100mm. Most of my days are now spend on groomers, but when the snow hits I’m in the bowls, trees or steeps. I’ve been leaning towards the Ripstick 106 black or Unleashed 98. Never looked at Atomic since the 1990s. How you stack the Maverick 100 up to the Ripstick or Unleashed as a single ski option?
Haven't skied those specific skis / widths, but I quite like my atomics, I found the ripstick 96's to be a build that wanted to get you set into the turn automatically while the Mavericks taking some massaging and boot flex to initiate.
Maverick 100ti better carving hold, tip less prone to grab in the bumps than the ripstick. The ti is just enough dampening but still playful and poppy when you want it
Thanks for the helpful review! I had a quick sizing question. I'm 5'11 and 170lbs and looking at the Maverick 95ti to supplement my Brahma 82 (for a two ski quiver). I ski the Brahma in a 173, and was wondering if you think the 172 in the Maverick would work for me? I prefer making shorter to medium turns, and I'm hoping the Maverick will be a more maneuverable option in the trees and powder. Any input is helpful!
Yeah, I think that's a good Length for that Ski! That's what I tested, I'm 6'1" and found it to be a good length for short radius turns and in the trees. Thanks for watching!
I’m also 5’11 and 170lbs haha and I just picked up the 95ti in 180cm. I also like the trees and powder but was thinking I’ll appreciate the length when skiing fast or off-trail. I’m coming from k2 in 179cm so it’s not a big change but they did feel a bit cumbersome at times. Curious how you’ll enjoy the 172 and if I should do the same.
I'm looking to fill a gap between a Head Supershape e-Rally and a powder ski (future purchase) with an all-mountain ski. Between the 88, 95, and 100 what would you recommend? I'm thinking 95 for more versatility, and use the Heads to fill the carving focused role.
Great Question! I haven't yet Demoed the Ripsticks, so I can't give you an honest answer, but I have plans to test them early this season, so I am hoping to be able to answer your question in a few months!

These skis feel light, they don’t have the weight and bulk like other metal skis. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were the lightest metal ski.
True! And surprisingly they stay light without sacrificing any of the stability, it's a pretty amazing design.

Yeah, I've only been to the alps once so I'm not really an expert, but I would have been really happy on a maverick 95ti

I've only skied the enforcer 100's but I much preferred the atomic maverick series for snappy turns. 88 being snappier 100 being better at floating.

Either one should be fine, I would go 172 because I like snappy turns or 180 if you want more flotation in powder

Sure that could work, just depends on what you want out of the ski, I did a recent review of the QST 88 if that helps you.
How does the 95ti compare to the ellan ripstick 96 black? or is there no comparison between the two?
