In my opinion, this is a superior reaction. He is soaking up the loveliness of Ms Sullivan's voice; he's not singing along with her, or constantly interrupting. To other voice coaches, here's you blueprint.
R&B isn't different though as many of the singers who sing r&b came out of the church, That's where the vocal runs come from; at least that's the case for most African American singers. There's a difference in terms of the quality as some r&b singers have more of a pop aesthetic (a cleaner sound) whereas gospel singers tend to dirty up their voices in very much the same way a blues singer approaches singing such as the gospel "squalling" and perhaps a bit more richness but the riffs are from the black church upbringing.
Damn I could listen to her do runs all day! Such talent! If you want to listen to more singers like her, you should do a reaction to Yebba, she is one of the best artist I know out there that is so underrated and needs more recognition!!! Having fun watching your videos!!
Please react publicly or privately : UA-cam “Piet Arion vocal range” His range will blow you to the next planet, past this solar system to the next galaxy, You think dimash has a high range; yes, but this guy’s highs are even more mind-blowing!! Great vocal lesson to show your students. If you haven’t heard ,You’ll thank me for suggesting this. Then listen to some of his covers like “ one moment in time” Omg! Omg! Speechless” Al

She's a good singer. Her voice is beautiful and full. But to tell the truth, sometimes it was hard for me to hear a melody. Sometimes, when there's a lot of "RUNS," as you call it, I'm a bit lost in music. I probably do not have a musical hearing like you. Runs are great, but they can not be too much, otherwise I'm lost. Sometimes I would like to have a musical hearing of a professional teacher like you and hear what you do in music. It must be a completely different musical experience. But maybe in time. I'm still learning something. Who knows. Maybe I'll hear it too. :-)
zinitaxo1 Frankly I feel the same . I'm black ,grew up in and out of "black churches":where a great deal of this music originates, but the truth for me is ,sometimes less is more. If you completely lose the melody and idea of the song, I think the song has been overworked. I find big value in a sustained quality note. (it's sort of a lost art on top 40 radio today. Balance (for me at least) is key.
Yes of course, there is different amounts used for different audiences. This video was a compilation of runs, so naturally it feels like an overload haha
RnB Singing Lessons :-) It was a little too much for me. Maybe just one song from start to finish would be better for me. But it is good to see different things and styles.
Terri Bora Yes. I like different voice effects. I do not have to describe what it is, but I feel that the song is something interesting, that it is somewhat unusual. But it must not be too much. The melody must have a leading position. :-)
Thanks for the free singing lesson. I will respectfully pass ( I’m just a part-time singer and have watched all yours and other coaches lessons. But Please please please I just discovered a singer almost or perhaps as good as dimash ( dare I say that) . Ok almost as good . You MUST react ( public or privately) to “ Piet Arion for A.F.” An original. His range is from down here to way up there. And the emotional impact ( at least in this live studio performance ) equals or surpasses some of Dimash or Lara Fabian’s performances. Lyrics dealing with loss or a broken heart. I know you will love it and want to youtube more. Some day I predict he will be a superstar. Range? Eb2-C6-Eb7 WHAT!!!! Al
