Isaiah 43:7 actually makes this teaching much clearer: Good works are not what we do to comply with God, or please God, or what we do to get right with him, or what we feel like we’ll do just in case those other preachers we heard say that faith wasn’t enough were right; God made us for his glory. Therefore, if he made us for good works as well, good works are what we do to give glory to God. They’re appreciative and thankful.
The motives behind our doing good makes all the difference. Let our light so shine before man that they may see and glorify God. Great sermon.
