This video was both hilarious and informative. I've recently made the leap from very very casual fan to head-over-heels-for-this-band and I knew there was Lore but had no idea just how much. Icebergs are so fun. Anyway, thanks for making this!

"This is my first video" and then last video you posted was two years ago.... Seriously if your first video is this good you could be very successful. Almost everyone's first video is awful while this is great. You have a lot of talent.
I am a new Sparks fan (the Sparks documentary was my launch point). Actually, my quasi-fandom goes back to being 9 years old and obsessing over the Paul McCartney "Coming Up" video. At any rate, thanks very much for this upload. Great job! Can't wait to go to my first Sparks gig in just under 30 days..
Sparks is my favorite band and I'm constantly trying to get whoever I can into them. One of my youngest cousins (who's like 3), loves to dance to "Upstairs" from Whomp That Sucker, and she will tell Alexa to play it over and over again. It's very wholesome and she likes when I pick her up to sing the goofy background singer part. :)
In 'The Sparks Brothers' he answers a question about his sexual status (or very similar🤔) with the words "Slightly horny", with a humorous glittering in his eyes 😂😂
Thank you. I’ve been a fan from the 70’s and you included a few curve balls that I didn’t know. Why did they hate doing Rollercoaster? Their moment was brief, but not embarrassing. I would have thought the exposure would have been helpful. Unless, they made them do the songs 40 times, because directors do that sometimes.
44:51 I mean bands being their own opening act to mess with the audience isn't unheard of, Devo did it before in late '79 with "Dove", a parody of Christian rock bands
This was a really great video I love sparks and I've been hoping for more people to make videos on him so thanks this is awesome also my favorite sparks record is propaganda ik lame pick
Thank you! It's a set of MIDIs of their songs I just found online lol, I can't list them all at the moment but I know When I Kiss You, Barbecutie, Equator and others feature, mainly 70s :D
I'm pretty convinced that several pictures of Noel are Russell in drag. The jawlines and other facial features are the exactly the same in most pictures, however I believe she was also portrayed by at least two other people. Maybe just something he decided to do for fun.
Iceberg misses mention of 21 albums extravaganza. It should be somewhere at the top (especially after The Sparks Brothers), but it's one of my most favorite fan-facts
Wow i can't believe they didn't mention Noel in the documentary! it sounds just like Russell lol. and i definitely just ordered the album from Germany, hehe...
The documentary is a terrific film, but naturally to help its flow as a movie it couldn't get too sidetracked with little details like Noel, which is a shame but I understand why. Enjoy the album! I want a physical copy too.
Nice video. Where did you find that Sparks iceberg picture? Also, Knock Off is very entertaining movie, JVC's second the most funny movie from 90s. ~_^
Thank you! My friend Joann made the iceberg with suggestions from our friends. And yeah, I'd like to check out Knock Off, it seems weird and interesting
Super fun and entertaining video! I knew many of these but there were also quite a few I'd never seen, good on ya for doing your research :) Also where did you get these absolutely `s p i c y` MIDIs? I really love them lol
It's a shame you didn't say more about their bizarre 1976 Beatles cover. The Big Beat linernotes say that it was supposed to be a duet with Marianne Faithfull. I've always wondered if it was recorded for the apparently dreadful Beatles-inspired movie: All This and World War II, which is also from 1976. That film is made up of covers of Beatles songs mostly recorded by British groups.
@@leirinstoybox maybe we'll find out one day. I have quite a few sparks uploads on my channel. You might enjoy them. "What you're wearing" from 1984 is amazing!
No one knows what ' Half Nelson means ? 1950s 60s ...wrestling hold , both arms beneath armpits , fingers clapped behind victims head. That's a " Full Nelson " Half Nelson is one arm...so engaged.
I have another iceberg item: Sparks recorded a song called Minnie Mouse for Disney. In the 80s, I worked at the D’land Hotel toy store (and was a huge Sparks fan). We played kiddie records in the shop, and when I heard this track I was like “wait, is this a Mickey Mouse parody?” Reading the credits, it turned out to actually be Sparks! disney.fandom.com/wiki/Minnie_Mouse_(song)
Oh wow, that's awesome! What a way to discover another Sparks song. If memory serves right, they thought they were in trouble when Disney got in touch with them thinking it was some legal hubbub regarding Mickey Mouse, and were pleasantly surprised when the Disney people were like "We like that, give us another one." lol
When they made 'Mickey Mouse' Disney's law people woke up with pointed fingers. However, they realized that song was good advertising, and dropped the case if Minnie could have her own song too. (You don't mess around with companies of that size and their legal rights ... Just think about Modesty Blai... ayes😉)
Also I'm gonna put it out there with like 100% confidence the John Lennon thing never happened. Sparks were on TOTP in 1974, and John Lennon was stuck in the US from 1971 on for legal reasons. TOTP wasn't shown in the US so there's no way he could've seen it.
I don't know how anybody believed the Doris Day rumor. Her real son was Terry Melcher and he was a well known record producer in the 60s. PS- Did you notice there was a pic of Doris Day for a second in the Sparks Brothers movie? I thought that must have been intentional. 🤔
@@leirinstoybox Well, like I said a lot of people did know who Doris's son was already. At least in LA, maybe not in the UK. I don't know where in the movie I saw Doris but it was in there. Maybe the part where they talked about going to movies as kids or growing up in LA? I guess you will have to watch it again. 🙂

Weird, I could have sworn I talked about it but yeah, the 21x21 event was an unearthly feat.
anyone have a link to when Russell wrote as a fan?
I've looked all over for it. Kind of thinking easy to find links have been wiped. Happy to find I'm wrong!
You can't not elaborate on the Ron Mael horse thing man wtf 😭⁉️
They were asked in an interview how they lost their virginity and Ron said he lost his "technically" by horseback riding. Ouch.
Interesting facts I wish I could understand you clearly!
just fyi, Gemma is pronounced Jemma. incredible video though!

There's definitely a lot more fans around now than in the first several years of my fandom!
