  • In part 10 of the Work Truck Revival Project we tackle the mass amounts of rust on our square body GMC work truck by cutting out the inner and outer rocker panels, the floor pan, and also removing the old rusty bed. I also find a gas leak and other things to really tank our budget unfortunately.

This is great! My truck needs just this kind of TLC. I was wondering about box removal.

Maybe attach a pulley and rope sling to your garage roof so you can lift new bed high enough to back truck under it. That is how I initially lifted my CJ7 hardtop on and off by myself. Obviously make sure the garage rafters, pulley, and ropes are strong enough. Might work for your situation.

I put some good thought into something like that and decided that'd probably be the best option also. I think after this build I'll spend some time to beef up the ceiling in an area and definitely make some sort of lift like that. Thanks for the suggestion!

I took my bed off myself and I jacked it up little by little and put 4x4's between the frame and box until it was high enough to get the truck out from the ben. I then put a 2x4 from one side of the truck to the other and had them resting on adjustable sawhorses. When I wanted to put the bed back, I just reversed the steps. Good luck and thanks for sharing.👍👍

So simple...why didn’t I think of that? Haha. I had thought of something similar but figured I couldn’t jack it high enough, but now I see I could’ve used the picker and did that same thing I suppose huh. Thank you for the input!!

@@MidwestGarage If we can help each other out just a little, then mission accomplished. That is the main reason that I started up my channel. To get help because I don't have a clue what I am doing. I am learning as I go with my UA-cam friends.
