I just replaced all of my pans with Our Place ceramic pans and LOVE them! I love them so much I convinced my mom and sister to get them.

Those pans look great, thanks for sharing! They remind me of cast iron pans used a lot in Soul food/Southern cooking in the US. Those pans are also only cleaned with hot water and last a long time after being seasoned. Phasing out every day items that pollute our bodies and environment is incredibly important, so kudos to you!

They are similar to Lodge Cast Iron pans in the US. Your mum may have access to Lodge in Canada. You season them too with oil. They really do last from one generation to the next.

If you haven't thought about it already I would suggest you look into replacing your utensils next with wood or non-plastic/silicone materials. I struggled with getting stainless steel to the right temp so I'm defo going to check out carbon steel pans!

Yes I know 🥲 but the problem is sometimes I need a silicone scraper to get my batter out of the blender…. If you know a better replacement I am all ears !!!

@@AriellelaparisienneI don't think there's anything that'll be quite a satisfying as a silicone spatula to scrape the last out of a jar or blended. Ahhh it's a dilemma 😅

FYI Kay Patterson from The Organized Soprano uses some brand of (I think US) ceramic cookware - they come with a universal lid as well as a storage rack that fits into your under-counter cupboard. They are lovely-looking, but I guess would also be quite pricey, Hers were gifted to her by the company...I do apologize that I cannot recall the brand name! (I am olde.....)

Yes ! I looked into ceramic too ! They are gorgeous but from what I read, they don’t last as long as carbon steel and they chip so easily :( but I did consider them !

Yes ! We have a cast iron for stews and such but I’ve tried fried eggs on the cast iron and they stick like crazy 🥲 it was a nightmare to clean hahaha the carbon steel really is the only pan I find that is naturally non stick….

I purchased a de buyer carbon steel pan in Paris a couple years back and if I let it sit too long I have rust problems. Clearly I’m doing something wrong… lol

Oh no I’m so sorry 😂 it’s just like cast iron you have to wash and dry immediately after use (quite literally immediately hahah)

In terms of cost, I think it’s totally worth investing in high quality things that are made to last a lifetime… and clearly these pans are those kind of items!
