Granite outcrops in SW of Western Australia

The granite outcrops of the Walpole Wilderness Area in the south-west of Western Australia are special and have to be preserved from the effects of fire, both planned fire and wildfire. The vegetation on these outcrops is unique and highly specialised to these ecosystems. The large prescribed burns conducted in the Wilderness often have an adverse effect on the granite, the flora and fauna, which call these unique places home.
