Unfortunately, day by day people tend to be tactless... And this for many reasons: curiosity, disrespect, stupidity, carelessness, etc.... It's a shame that the code of good manners is no longer taken into account.

I think in general people ask certain questions not because they are particularly interested in the answer but because they are trying to see if they share common ground with the person they are talking with. Most of the questions here are ridiculous because I’d never ask such ignorant questions of another regardless of whether I knew them or not. Maybe others would but if they have any social skills at all they would be aware of crossing the line with regard to personal information.
