Finally someone found our hidden features that we did not have an UI yet. A few tricks of using the hidden feature: 1. changing the alpha values of the mask will adjust how similar the generation to the original image. 2. Feathering masks will help you generate fire, rainbow, smoke, fog or all soft things. 3. Negative prompt is supported. You can type things like ‘face, no beard, without glasses’ to adjust the results.
I've been looking for this exact tutorial for the last couple of weeks and finally stumbled on yours! Thank you so so much for the amazing tutorial! You are a great educator who broke this down clearly and concisely.
Thank you so much for this Photoshop AI tip and video. I am achieving some amazing results turning my photos into abstract oil paintings. Flowers, Tuscan street scenes, macro ladybug, etc. I usually have to generate 3 or 4 times to find the most realistic version. Then I run it through one of the Topaz programs as necessary. Anxious to try printing one on canvas.
Thanks for a great tutorial. It does make you wonder why Adobe doesn’t take your process and make it a preset…or at least a simply click on an Action. Thx again for focusing on simplicity while achieving great results.
I like this. Thanks. This comment is not intended to disparage the video, but "abstract art" is not a good generative fill command. I think you mean "post-impressionist" style art. Like Van Gogh's portraits. But just a quibble.. the main point taken.
During my extensive testing, I have discovered that 40% is the ideal point to achieve the best results. However, if we go beyond 50%, the Adobe AI system generates completely different outputs that don't match the original reference photo.
This is a great trick! However I couldn't get good results for faces, not as good as the illustrations here. I selected the 40% grey alpha channel and the faces generated were hideous lol
I'm new to photoshop beta and it really isn't playing ball.... I've followed the instruction exactly but it's still generating completely separate images relating to 'oil paintings'. Can someone please tell me how to get past this please as I pay for photoshop like most people so when it doesnt work I want to throw my computer out of the window... Thank you. (hoping it doesnt take 10 months for someone to see this and reply :D)
@@psdesireYT your method works great.. I noticed it when I collapse the layers I'm not able to save image as a jpeg. I had to select all copy and then paste in a new document.
Yes, that's correct. For each individual fill, the AI generates a 1024-pixel output. Currently, one effective strategy is to address it gradually, one piece at a time. I suggest using smaller portions, as they provide high-quality content and yield more realistic and stunning results.
salve , perchè nella barra non mi esce il pulsante generate fill? tutte le altre finzioni ci sono, ma per generate fill non appare, come mai? grazie e complimenti per il video.
Great tutorial, can you teach us how to make a faceless ( the one with no eyes and nose and sometimes lips also) custom portraits. Would love to learn that.
Can't you just press Q to activate the quickmask, take a brush with 40% grey and fill the canvas (or just a part). Press Q again to exit quickmask mode and use generative fill. Isn't that the same?
Yes, you can certainly use this method too. If your intention is to create a Photoshop action, the method presented in the video is considerably more convenient.
Love this it worked great but every time I try now the picture has a red glow when click the RGB channel and I can't get rid of it. It's not a mask... Any help?
I tried this trick exactly step by step, but I have a problem. It is generated and I see in the miniature preview that the generated layers look like what I want, but I can't see it on the picture. It's like the layer is invisible or something. In the left window of the generative layer isn't a picture to see. Can anyone please help me with that problem please?
I cannot follow the cartoon effect. It goes fast and seems like steps needed to be told to the viewer are missing. I have played the video many times stopping and restarting at various points in the video and still have a problem capturing the steps. Is there any other tutorial on this that is more thorough?
why does this not work for me. This is the 3rd tutorial I have copied step by step perfectly and the result is the same - the oil painting bares no resemblance to my original picture. And I have tried multiple pictures.
And what's weird is that when I try using the vector illustration digital art prompt, it gives me pretty much the same result. A really boring picture mostly filled with a single colour but with some kinds of frame details in the corner.
Currently, in the beta version, it is not possible to modify the intensity of effects such as opacity, feather, density, and others. As a workaround, we can utilize an alpha mask to generate diverse photo effects. It is possible that this feature will be incorporated in future updates when the regular version is released.
It seems like the generative fill only takes things outside the selection as input. So if you have some part of the photo 100% selected it ignores what was in that and generates new pixels that fit with what was outside. If there are no pixels outside then it ignores your photo and generates new pixels just based on your prompt. If you have an alpha channel, converted to a partial intensity selection, then the fill takes some account of what was inside the selection as well as outside, and generates new pixels based on a combination of what's underneath with your prompt and what fits based on anything outside the selection area.

@@psdesireYT this method no longer seems to work in the newest beta update. Do you know a way to still do this in another way with generative fill?
@@chlstll I second this

Great trick! I'm wondering if I fill the alpha channel with only 30% grey, what in this case the generative fill will generate?
THANK YOU! I had been hoping this was something GF could do, but I didn't know how to make it work!

Is there any way to do this for just some of the picture (but not all of it - so some of the pic will remain unchanged)?
The generative layer includes a layer mask, allowing you to paint on certain areas to conceal the effect selectively.
