The Pink Floyd of our generation.

Radiohead is the type of band that can release B-sides 20 years late that are better than 99% of current band's best song.
Amen
Who is the biggest rock band in the world now anyway? Muse, Tame Impala, Linkin Park and such were good a decade ago. Rock ain't dead but it's underground, so of course Radiohad overshadows this with simply a past B-side...

After 50 listens I can confirm that this song follows the typical Radiohead acceptance routine.
1st listen - yeah it’s alright. Not their best work but it’s great to hear something new.
5th listen - actually this song is really good. Can tell it’s a B side. But still… it’s good
50th listen - BEST SONG EVER. Why was this omitted from the album??!

Also radiohead: let's release it *20 years later*
Very Neil Young of them.
The brits sure are cheeky
see you in 25 years
Man, I can’t imagine how many more tracks that they have that’s in the vault for hail to the thief, in rainbows, king of limbs and a moon shaped pool! Because this track is just the two of the iceberg in regards to the number of tracks that were left on kid A and amnesiac. Just a beautifully well made track. I’m still waiting for the release of “skirting on the surface” to come out as an official track. I’m sure that might be out on album 10 when the time comes (I hope). Update: so I heard Thom and Johnny’s side project The Smiles do the rendition of “skirting on the surface “, and it’s a grower. But I still hope they put the original version on to album 10.
Why do you say I hope.....
Skirting on the Surface got reworked into a song by Thom & Jonny’s other band The Smile. I’d imagine it’ll be on their debut album which will likely release in the next year or two.
skirting on the surface isn't a Radiohead song anymore, personally I think Radiohead have made way better music
It might end up on The Smile album.
I bet you “cut hole” will be
No fucking way, what a day fellow fans😂 it’s always great to hear them revisit those hidden gems
This song hits hard. I already love it but I can also tell it's one that will grow with time.

@@snaiiled thank you! 😃
all they gotta do now is drop some unreleased beatles stuff and this man would simply die
Even the B-sides of Radiohead's B-sides are amazing
If they announced they were doing a world tour and only performing the b-side of the b-side songs, there wouldn't be a seat available at any venue.
Just like the best Radiohead songs, this is a grower. Has a great Talk Show Host/Climbing Up The Walls vibe to it; also feels, sonically, as a transitional exercise: you can still hear some of the spirit of OKC, while at the same time sensing that they’re moving towards something more textural.
Yeah I totally heard that OKC sound with those synth strings + little bells. All while in a sort of Kid A lite shell
Reminds me more of amnesiac than kid a. Maybe a bit dollars and cents
OK computer type bells and droning
Kid A glitchiness and reverberated atmosphere
Amnesiac era drum playing from Phil
Has a hail to the theif type of acoustical atmosphere at parts
""If you're stuck *in rainbows*""
So this timeless song has a broad 1997-2007 era sound. The best decade for radiohead.
Agreed!
It grows extremely fast on you to. This will go down as a classic imo
This must've been recorded very early. It feels more post-OKC than pre-Kid A if that makes sense.
@MayorWahna yeah I think it fits the feeling of Amnesiac more.
thom's vocals sound like TKOL or AMSP though
Feels good when a band puts out an old unreleased song from days past and it STILL manages to feel like it just came out today.

Sometimes really good songs just fall through the cracks. Never quite right for whatever project a band or artist is currently working on, but also considered too good to release as a B side.

The best gifts are the ones that come out of nowhere, without prompt, without a preconception. Enjoy.
Say no to drugs
That warm acoustic guitar stirs the air like a furnace and that strange electric riff nips like frost bite and burns like neon and sets your clueless mind in motion as your restless legs carry you down dark and derelict streets until cold and warm unify.
The chorus elevates you into a friendlier terrain but soon your left back into barren verses freezing yet content and suddenly, there’s a place to go, a home you remember might still exist.
“When you forget how lucky you are” is sung like he really means it. He goes lower when you expect him to match the melody and go higher. It’s chilling and makes you focus on what he’s saying. A quiet burst of morbid gratitude.
“When you change your friends like changing your clothes”. Friends used for a specific purpose, as a style, and then discarded.
Doesn't matter if its an old or new song as long as we keep getting Radiohead doses..The best band ever..
Cuando salió está canción yo dude un poco que la tuvieran desde ese tiempo, la voz de Thom me pareció más actual, lo cual es increíble porque han pasado 20 años.. y dice mucho de lo bien cuidada que Está.

My little brother recently passed away for a little bit over a week ago. Music is one of the few coping mechanisms that has helped me get through sorrow throughout my entire life.

Only a band like Radiohead can make a mature version of themselves, inserted in a masterpiece that took place 20 years ago. It´s the good example of how a band gets old in the good sense, like a good wine. They never repeat themselves. I think most of the bands out there can´t take time in a good way. It ´s what make Radiohead so special.
This song somehow manages to feel relaxing and yet unsettling, all at the same time...

Gotta love Phil's take on drumming.

Love the foreshadowing of in Rainbows in the lyrics here. It’s the creative process that make this band exciting. They surf the acts of speech we all recognise, tuning in to warnings and anxiety held tacitly in society.
The arrival of Paul Lansky and other electronic pioneers into the conceptual language of a bored and overstressed band marked by Kid A - they were coming out of a commercial peak yet on an all time low. This was bold, brave thinking that energised and disrupted their format. Each song they move out into the room contains aspects and cues to their overall coda. Extraordinary.

Top tier tune from a band so good, they can just have top tier tunes lying around for 20 years.
I can't think of any other band who have been so good over this amount of time, 9 albums and IMO 7 of them are classics, no other band has that level of consistancy while at the same time evolving, inventing and progressing.

and just think how many more songs like this one they might have lying around
I didn't care for this song when it released, forced myself to listen it multiple times because some RH songs are growers, still couldn't care much. Now 10 months later I decided to rewatch the music video because it's so vague and immediately "got" the song(not because of the VM itself). Music works in such odd ways. The only way I can describe the song is "glacial". I picture a dark forest with tall Fir trees blocking out moonlight in the cold depths of winter. It's like a song for that visual in my head. Very isolating, very dense. Great work RH.

I can't bring myself to read comments right now so I apologize for any redundancy. This probably has already been expressed in one form or another, and much more eloquently, I'm sure.
This track just hit me upside the head.
It feels like the words of a time traveler, who has kept mostly to the shadows, but has been keenly keeping watch so as to be ready for you when you fall into your darkest, most intimate moments.
To me this is a love song, written decades ago, from Radiohead to the fan that has pulled their music out, much like an old favorite blanket, when the cold isolation of depression sets in.
These words don't diminish the importance of other systems of support that one must have in place in order to cope with severe clinical depression.
But I've always felt that Radiohead's music was written with an understanding of these feelings, which sadly, so many are plagued with. And, for that, I am very appreciative.

Sometimes I fear that I'll never have another experience with music like I did when my GF in the year 2000 got me an advanced copy of Kid A. I asked her if I could listen alone (she was awesome and understood why I asked) and I listened to it on a big ol' stereo with big proper leather headphones on from 10pm when she dropped it off until 0700am the next morning. I felt like I left my body that whole night. I'll never forget it and go back to that same whole body feeling everytime I listen all the way through on good headphones.
A close second was (based on the experience) was when Reflektor by Arcade Fire came out in 2013. The greatest woman I have ever spent time with and I bought it after work on CD and drove the sea2sky highway from Vancouver all the way up to Lillooet and back again - right through the sunset in the mountains over the ocean and into total mountain highway darkness. The lyrics to "It's Never Over" hit me really hard as we drove and I had to pull over because my tears were becoming dangerous to my seeing the dark road ahead.
God I love music. And I'll say this as a 42 year old who is now single again. NEVER take lightly the people in your life who share the same love of the same bands, there's always going to be something to bring you back together when things get tough. ♥️
If you're a Radiohead fan here to listen to this amazing newly released song, we're already friends. 💿
ITS HAPPENING OH MY GOD, EVERYONE CALM DOWN

Radiohead is my very first most fav band since I was a teen. Its music really describes me; the vibe, the atmosphere while I'm listening to it, is just too magnificent.
Damnnn broooo
In Rose's voice: *it's been 68 years...*
Kid A Mnesia is actually such a good name imo
It's that part after the chorus...when he says "when you change your friends like you change clothes" and just lets it hang there, the music goes on and sounds somber yet tense...like a scene from a movie when someone reveals a deadly secret and the room goes silent. Nothing they can do to change what's been done...now they have to navigate the perils directly ahead of them.
Something about this track it's so haunting...Mind-blowing atmosphere right here fellas'
I always feel life becomes surreal each time I listen to Radiohead
DMT. Life's the trip .
whats funny is I made a playlist a while back called "Kid Amnesiac" that had a combo of my favorites from both albums
What tracks were on that playlist if you don't mine me asking

KID A and AMNESIAC are some of the best albums of all time. These were the soundtrack of my time in New York, just turned 21, right before 9/11. These sounds are forever linked to the magic of walking the street of NY. These best memories of my early 20’s. Listening to this new song just took me back there instantly!! The soundscape is mesmerising, Johny Greenwood sounds are magical, Tom’s voice… Listening this song for the first time moved me to the core as it transported me to a place that is so precious to me, as if I recalled an emotional forgotten memory. I cant wait to listen to the rest.
2001.. i feel you.. if you ever get dementia, and forget your age, the date is always going to be a nifty hint if you were born in '80..
i actually can't listen to Amnesiac though. It's like a punch in the face emotionally for me, way way too powerful. Even now.
Ditto, different place but same feels, hard to believe it was over 20years ago. This record is going to hit hard.
I’m 21 now, I’m bron in 2000. I hope I can experience the same thing in 20 years.
It’s like an amalgamation of the entire Kid A record, distilled in one song.
Beautiful pastoral song. 🤘🏻
Well, Tuesday just got a whole lot better. This is gorgeous
Que maravilla escuchar por primera vez una canción de una de las mas grandes bandas de la historia, ni pensar que esta rola no pudo estar en el disco final
OMG! This is Beautiful! So moody, and magical! Makes me sad in the best possible way! Love that feeling, it is crawling under my skin! What a pleasant surprise! The drums reminds me Gotye “Hearts a Mess”.
