Kasrataa here. Thank you CGB for the fun times. I was not really serious about dethroning you ;) I know that you are the real #1 in Best of One. I'm just a Timmy having the fun of my life playing you and other great players. I'm looking forward to future games :)
Man, in historic, my vamp deck always go against rogues. I'd the brillant idea to build a self mill deck... The Lurrus matches are changed for Lurrus Spirit Dancer. I never play against rogues anymore 😓
The matching algorithm is the most frustrating part of Arena to me. I was going against a lot of annoying aggro decks, so I built a dimir control deck specifically designed to beat the decks I was getting matched against. When I queued with the dimir control deck, I got almost EXCLUSIVELY matched against other dimir control decks and even mono-blue decks that I NEVER see in the matchmaking queue with my other decks. Almost every match was a mirror, despite dimir control being under 10% of the meta, WTF? And of course I had a poor winrate because the deck was designed to beat something else. It always goes like this: Me: Queue with a control deck designed to beat aggro. Arena: Here's a mono blue deck with 24 counterspells, 4 shark typhoons, 1 fae of wishes, and land, have fun! Me: Ok, you got me, I'll play mono-white aggro instead Arena: Here's mono-red and winota, have fun It's really obnoxious because you can't really "play the meta" correctly if this is how it works. You have to "play the algorithm" instead.. Fucking annoying. If I quit Arena permanently at some point, this will probably be the #1 reason.
@@jorgeclaudio23 I'm running an azorius deck with dance of the manse and have a pretty fun time when rogues start popping up again. Nothing like pulling out a couple shark typhoons and all your removal enchantments, while also filling up the board. They just help me lol.
Some feel good matches, rad content as always bro. It was cool seeing you and HGG face off the other day, you two are my top MTGboiz, hope to see that again
Made a version of this enchantment deck and got to 80 % win ratio in one day, but then the rigged matchmaker basically said "yeah you win too much" matched me 95 % of the time with ugin, yorion, and late game ramp decks with gazzilion of removals...until I dropped under 50 % win ratio...
Yeah this happens to me except it's against rogue's, my winrate against rogue's is pathetic, I absolutely cannot stand that deck, everytime they manage to mill all my land and removal spells, and the matchmaking algorithm seems to know this.
Hey!! I am currently running a similar list, a bit more on the aggro side to have a slight higher chance against control, running scorpions, disciples and bloodsky berserkers to lower the curve, and testing callous bloodmage as it replaces itself, and can exile graveyards when needed. In some control matchups you can chip enough dmg so that a topdecked rankle can finish the job
Favorite deck in this meta. I've really enjoyed withercrowns, mirror shields for lurrus companion and some treasure shenanigans to ramp for vorpal sword which has won fairly often with a lil eyetwitch
Glad to see Aggro crumble under the weight of black. I still play Eidolon/Auras in Historic, so it's nice to see that it's still relevant. I might toss in a Malakir's Rebirth with this and definitely have some fun with it! BTW, I joined cool kids club finally after watching for years! Keep it up!
@CGB I worked in 2x Necromentia for the control matchups/Ultimatum's, taking out 1 [either Mogis or Mire's idk which is better] and an Aphemia. You don't sacrifice much vs. Aggro & you don't need to autoscoop vs. Control
I play a variant of this deck that uses Underworld Dreams and Peer into the Abyss (plus foretell / lotus to cheat them) and it seems to be able to adjust style against both agro and slow decks.
DemonChild played a lot yesterday. Also you were my first game after reaching mythic yesterday. I felt bad because I didn't intend to keep playing monowhite lmao, but forgot to switch decks between queue's.
I'm looking at my old version of this. +4 Archfiend's Vessel, +4 Call of the Death Dweller, -1 Favor, Grasp, Quill, -2 Rider, Rankle. -4 Faceless, +2 Hagra Mauling, +2 Agadeem's. +1 Castle, -2 Swamp. I like the extra synergies in mine. Rankle is good but not part of the plan and raises the curve unnecessarily.
I play a version of this that uses other creatures and can beat Ultimatum pretty often. I basically slides in some of the Aura package into an existing flash/Haste/lifelink monoblack deck that already ran 4 demonic embraces. This way i have game against both Aggro and control. So far so good.
Started playing during Theros Beyond Death (mostly draft) in my LGS and a hateful embrace build was the deck I won my only FNM playing. I love all incarnations of this deck even if even best of 3 it folds hard to control :/ Hopefully I get to play it again before rotation if the stores reopen.
I don't really play ranked, I spend most of my time in draft or historic casual. I wanted to ask how's Witherbloom, or Golgari in general, look on the Std ladder?
My climb to mythic will be playing the most difficult match up for the deck in the video for the day. Lol Without fail I always face multiple opponents running them. It's kind of a surreal experience when your playing against the deck while watching the video. I'm glad I ran with Mardu Sac today.
I've been running your mono-white deck since I don't have a lot of time to play and either want to win quickly or lose quickly. I've been encountering *so much* mono-black and it has been absolutely dumping on me. Also I'm not sure why nearly every game I'm either mana-starved or flooding, but shuffler's fine I guess.
Dramatic finale isn't terrible in a deck like this, anthems the zombie tokens and makes evasive threats when they kill your eidolon or you could even do that yourself to draw cards with a lurrus out etc ensuring a finale trigger during your turn drawing a card and if the opponent follows with removal for one of your non token creatures you get another token. It can quickly spiral out of the opponents control and lead to some really aggressive draws.
This is my deck mostly. You can beat ultimatum. Add 3 or 4 demon's embrace, add that one 2 mana priest that has kicker to rez a creature. You can kill in turn 4 if you get mogus, embrace, and a hateful idion
I love the intro I just wish it was true and the whole world wanted to run creatures! Sad truth is more than 50% of everyone’s cards are some sort of removal
I thank you for playing this. I've been climbing with Golgari Control and Yorian Ultimatum, the lower ranks were littered with this deck. So many free wins as they ran out of threats pretty much immediately.
I've been playing a Golgari version of this since Theros released and while the matchup is better against control than just mono black, you still hate it when you see the Yorion
To be exact: those one and two drops, Lurrus as companion, omen of the dead, malakir rebirth etc. Called "Lurrus hates Aggro" With omen of the dead and malakir rebirth even mid range decks can be defeated. Still dies to control though....
CGB i have to admit its a very good deck and now everyone's playing it in diamond trying to push, but they're just not good enough to use the deck. 6-1 against it playing Winota. People don't understand how easy it is to counter winota and thats why it's so good rn
Funny, i don't LIKE to play Black because it's so annoying to me as a Green White player usually. But had to kill creatures as my daily today so used my heavily tweaked Black color challenge freebie deck and literally lost ONCE due to killing instead of doing the correct play. MOST times they quit and usually just as my home brew was running out of gas. Pretty funny. But yeah went 9/10. That NEVER happens to me
Every time I play Mono Green. The only aggro deck I face is this deck. Never mono red, rarely white, always this or the magecraft aggro. Hate this deck xD Funny thing is I have it as well. Destroys any deck with low mana cost creatures.
Still waiting for the day where I will be able to use monoblack as a main deck ! Missing some cards.... In the meantime I am having fun with my Black/White control deck...

Now they're dead.

mine is Jund involving making big trampling creatures, removing the competition and hasting them out
I dont think its ladder worthy but it has almost gotten me from silver to diamond
Love lurrus decks. Using a mono Lurrus right now thats doing pretty good. I dont have enough Demic embraces for it just yet though.
I love your evil plot. Doom Foretold is doing work right now against aggro and holding its own again Sultai :)
Thanks a lot man. I had to switch to Saltimatum after I kept running into these non-stop today.

I made similar deck when Ikoria dropped. I actually have like 3 different version. It did well. I haven’t played arena in a while though
how did you not play against sultai or temur once with this deck? even in ranked does arena try to put you against similar decks?
would be cool to have a making of episode to see whats behind an episode of cgb
