I'm in the midst of a very scary transition. My job was restructured out of existence earlier this month. Was it something I loved? No. Was it fulfilling? No. But I had gotten comfortable--and I'm going through a hard time to begin with. My father is transitioning--dementia. I was dealing with all of his stuff (his care is running $8K/month) and trying to find a way to not lose the house that is only half-renovated (thanks to a crooked contractor, but that's another story). I was still hitting all my deadlines, meetings, carrying my junior designers, etc--and I was cut. I'm trying very hard to keep my energy up but it is VERY hard. I feel so traumatized that, as soon as you said that I was beautiful and worthy, I burst into tears. The Universe forced me to drop the old--if feels like everything is being taken--I know I'm supposed to detach, but there's just so much up in the air right now...I'll admit it, I'm terrified.

What am I?
I’m not a liberal
I’m not a feminist

I’m not even religious
But what I am is confused as to why I have to be one or the other.
I’m confused.
I’m misinformed by most media
I’m uncomfortably aware that people lie all the time.
I know I do.

I’d like to forget a lot of things.
My body won’t let me.
Because there are important lessons to be learned and remembrered.
Your body remembers everything.
But
I wouldn’t take anything in my life back
And
I would like to honor who I’ve become.
The only thing I do know
Is how to do my best.
Always.
Even when I choose a “wrong” path,
It shows the “right” one even more clearly.
There is no right or wrong.
Difficult is not always bad,
Easy is not always good.
There is only forward and backward.
Backwards helps to see things clearly
And sometimes, most of the time..
Can give you perspective
Forwards helps to see things as they are.
Like an arrow
You pull back in order to propel forward.
Or as a painter does with their masterpiece,
They take a step back to see it as a whole.
Judgement only crushes motivation.
But curiosity enhances joy
Let’s be curious.
Not judgmental
Or prejudice.
Just curious
And open to possibility that I might have more to learn.
Put my ego aside

Nor should I try to be.
