@M O'B See comment by Stefania Spadafora. Of course if you're serious you could also demand that any time you have an operation, the surgeon and nurses should not wear masks or gloves because you want to protect their minds.
As an American in an area that has already exploded with cases since opening... of course people CAN behave in a way that doesn't cause the virus to resume exponential growth. But they won't. Don't rely on people to behave rationally. Once it's lifted people will not only return to normal, but try to make up for lost indulgences from the quarantine period.
The thing is there will at least be 36% of the population who will simply deny that the infection rates increased just to protect their cognitive bias and may actually be claiming the contrary on social media.
It's true. Those people who can't behave are making it very hard for everybody else. If the hospitalization and death rates raise, the governors won't open the businesses, and lots of people who are trying their best to make a safe workplace continue to suffer. Selfish and thoughtless.

Results of antibody testing in my home state show that in Boston 1 in 40 is an asymptomatic carrier and 90% of the population have NOT been exposed to Cov19 (yet). That's why masks and more testing is needed.
@@jesusdiscipledon1499 Studies have seen from multiple sources are 26% asymptomatic, 54% mild to severe, 15% hospitalization to critical, 5% critical to intensive care. Also with the current number of cases and deaths, there appears to be approximately 5% exposure of the population. Some urban areas have concentrations of up to 12 to 14%. It looks like roughly two million people are infected in New York. I agree with the other person who said today the CDC said the current antibody tests are wrong about half the time. So flip a coin. We need working antibody tests. Also appears Georgia and Florida are both suppressing death reports.
i would like to make people aware that the food packages given for the very vulnarable like my mum recovering from breast cancer surgery and my dad who has terminal lung cancer are a joke my mum thinks she has to be grateful but its nothing they can use thankfully i can do my mum and dads shopping if not they would be living on tins of corn pasta and rice with the odd tin of beans they did get some fruit last week but it had spoilt. My mum was a nurse and worked since she was 17 till 65 . we owe her more than this.
Where are your parents located? Ontario, Canada by any chance? A few food packages is better than nothing. I have lived on canned food mostly. The help most elderly receive in Canada is pitiful. I guess they want us dead. I am 76 and live alone with my 2 dogs. No help from anyone. I order groceries from Walmart. Costs a bloody fortune. I ordered 2 dozen eggs. One dozen were broken. 2 kilo of grapes, the grapes were all single, mostly spoilt. The bag of potatoes was fine, I live mostly on potatoes. The bag of carrots, the carrots were soft. Life goes on.
Where is this? Our Meals on Wheels offer very small, but well-rounded meals. :( I'm so glad you are able to provide for your parents and pray for their and your well-being.

In Bulgaria we have had to date 2400 infection and 140 deaths .We started lockdown on 13th March with 0 deaths and 35 infected. Track and trace has always been used and if a hot spot arises whole villages, towns or neighbour's have been quarantined. Lockdown has been gradually lifted and so far seems to be working
And yet, people in Bulgaria are about to ruin those nice numbers by going against the recommendations, crowding in the streets and even protesting. My mom's a nurse back there, really makes me worried when I hear these things.
Get this straight...since lockdown started you had 140 deaths, with NIL deaths before lockdown? Since lockdown started you had another 2365 infected...before lockdown it was a mere 35? Conclusion?

Hieroglyphic Tributes , maybe, but the virus doesn't pass through the skin. Generally it is airborne as in droplets breathed out from the nose or mouth. Not so much from surface contact. But I would take precautions as though it definitely did. I QUARENTINE my household clothes before laundering (two days). That's not too bothersome for my situation. It's still mostly hand washing, masks, and not touching your face. I am using up all my disposable dishes and bleach others. Just washing floors everyday. Working on reducing viral load. We will be keeping this up for a few years. Changing out your tops more often might be the way to go. 💓💖🇨🇦 cold out here northern bc. Frosting just to the south of us.

Yay, from Guernsey. Being an island has made it easier, and we have a fab virologist in charge who closed our borders and locked down at the end of March. She introduced testing, contact tracing and strict quarantine of contacts. We had 252 cases, 14 deaths (all over 80), and no one requiring ventilation. We have created family bubbles, and We are now testing asymptomatic people and healthcare workers. Only 29 cases occurred via community seeding. She has been amazing and the island owes a lot to her.
Totally agree Dr wearing a mask has absolutely nothing to do with politics and I do not understand why in the world this is being done as such. Masks in public places will slow the spread. No you do not have to wear it at home, you do not wear it when driving in your car, you follow the instructions which is wear the danged thing when indoors in public places. There is no way I am the only one who sees the common sense in this right?
In the US it's been politicised bc of the prez. He's anti science. He's playing a stupid tough guy act by not wearing a mask and his supporters are following. It's ridiculous and dangerous. Btw,I'm American and very concerned.
Nicole Burns I was the only person wearing a mask in a shop of 10 people. Very sad that more people aren't wearing them. There will surely be a spike and another lockdown if people carry on like this. Mask wearing needs to become like second nature, a bit like seatbelt wearing is today.
Nicole Burns - It may be that the CDC and WHO were so strident in telling us NOT to wear masks. Now they have done another 180 and are telling people TO wear masks. The whole thing has been political, not just the masks. More people are invested in just blaming China than actually figuring out the true origins. Case numbers indicate it was well active in the US many months before it was claimed. It did not spread that far and wide and fast in a few days. When you have a number of agendas being carried out that have absolutely nothing to do with Covid 19 under cover of the lockdown, of course people are going to be very suspicious of anything the governments say.
@Dr.John, I noticed you never mention the UAE. They have ones of the lowest CFR and one of the highest testing per capita. Cases don't appear to be steadily declining although they made an incredible effort in contact tracing and testing.
Do you still have international travel or foreign workers coming in? Cases should drop over time. Canada is failing somewhere. We have more active cases now than at any time. All our measures have been halfhearted and masks rarely worn.
There is absolutely NO STANDARD to hold nations to on their 'confirmed' case or death reporting. Comparisons from one nation to another have always been and always will be a moot point.
As an American, it saddens me to say that, there is no shortage of thoughtless selfishness in the U.S. How the U.S. can start opening up when there is no evidence the situation is any better now than it was when the stay at homes orders started to be implemented, is beyond me. But that will not stop many in the U.S. who mistakenly believe they have the right to do whatever they want, consequences be damned. Frustrating and sad!
Have you forgotten what the aim was, as told to everyone? To flatten the curve so hospitals could keep up. Not that fewer people would be infected, but hospitals could keep up as herd immunity was achieved ASAP. Broad infection as quickly as hospitals could handle the load. Then it became vaccine or not getting out ever again. People like you are scared so witless you don't even remember that short short time ago. Herd immunity... they never mention it any more. Just suckers wailing to be jailed to save them. Incredible.
The most optimistic thing I can tell you is that in the beginning the trend was going in a bad direction, and now, the trend is going in a good direction.
I agree. People are showing their true colors. Then, there are those who wear a mask, but their nose and mouth are rarely covered. I'm thinking, what's the point? Why even put the mask on? Unbelievable, the stupidity shown by so many Americans. Sad, indeed.

Hello John, just one comment. The 7% figure from the Swedish Immunity was taken around 14th of April. This would put the data at a full month ago. The guardian juxatposed this with mortality from late May. Not really a fair comparison I think.
I have a number of problems with that number, actually. 1) The whole study was never published, just a few bullet points from the results. 2) The numbers for the other 2 regions that were announced were both under 4%. 3) The tests were performed on people seeking medical attention at the clinics. 4) Deaths in Sweden are often reported days, weeks or months after the fact (speaking of mortality). So I wouldn't count on either the number of deaths, or the unpublished non-randomly sampled study.

Vietnam’s new e-visa policy set to go into effect July 1st will allow 80 countries to apply online. However, borders for international tourists are likely to remain closed.

Not sure you will see this. I have a friend that works in an auto dealership in Fairfield County CT (very near NYC) the company is "reopen" and has 30 on staff right now. First day they tested everyone for current infection and ant bodies. 1 person tested positive with the infection and had no symptoms. He was sent home for 14 days. 28 people tested positive for both types of antibodies and one person tested negative on the virus and the antibodies. Since the 28 that had the antibodies all live in Fairfield county you would have to wonder how close to herd immunity Fairfield county and or NYC may be getting with those kinds of results. Amazing.
Ps MANY FALSE POSITIVES on antibody tests. Know someone who had antibodies but never sick and was proactive mainly stayed and worked at home with only contact her husband. Her husband tested negative.
@@notsogreen many of the antibody tests are flawed because they only test for coronavirus ie. if you've had a cold in the past few months you'll have antibodies to a coronavirus. There are still more antibody tests being trialed but so far none have proven to test for only Sars-CoV-2
@@rosestewart1606Yes: its low specificity causing many false positives; especially in areas with low infection rates. More accurate antibody tests will be available soon.
Very sadly, politicization of this pandemic is unavoidable. Because politicians can't waste an opportunity. What is it? That old saying? Never let a traumatic event go unused or something like that. In other words, this pandemic and all the freaking new rules is a perfect social experiment for our leaders. Mostly our state governmental bodies here in the US. I live in southern California and I am EMBARRASSED by our governor and those he surrounds himself with. We can open hair salons and barber shops but not nail salons? We can open fitness centers but not a great many small businesses????? We can allow literally hundreds of people at a time into our big box stores and any smaller chain store that may or may not carry grocery items, yet all the other retail stores are not allowed to open even with precautions. We are just opening beaches but with some rather stupid rules. We can drive through any restaurant and fast food chain that offers the service, where the workers do not change their gloves between customers and who handle money, food, drinks and bags, and then hand them to us through an open window or bring bags to our cars. Or we can all receive grocery and food deliveries to our doors. I am someone who shops and delivers, so let me tell you that I am breathing on and touching every box and jug before dropping them off to your home. Think about that one. Our rules are random and not well thought-out.
And another 25% deaths being nursed at home. Around 1000 people dead which wasn't infected by their nursing staff. Mainly immigrants living close together. Only around 100 deaths under 60 years old. Almost all with underlying health issues.
Hi John I would like to thank you for such great effort and valuable videos. Unfortunately, I could not follow your daily briefs for the last 3 weeks or so. I was wondering if you made a video to comment on the Italian health services findings from performed autopsies. Thank you
In my experience as a regular swimmer in change rooms coughing & spluttering on cold winter mornings occurs all the time. Its part and parcel of change rooms. Australia is going to open swimming pools & I suspect change rooms where social distancing is impossible will be a virus breeding ground. At least we are opening up extremely slowly so hopefully they arent stupid enough to open pools.
Doctor Campbell, my question is Why don't we use Google information for Tracing? Google knows where everyone is and what they are doing or going to do. I am convinced they are waiting to somehow monetize the information. They know when we first suspect we are sick by our questions and the moment we go into the hospital. Just thinking out loud. Hey, keep up the good work. I am a huge fan of your program and teaching.
Funny you mention Cheltenham. If only someone in power understood the gravity of the situation and explained to the Board of the Jockey Club (who run Cheltenham) how serious it was? They made it illegal for family and friends to visit the elderly locked inside nursing homes. They knew damn well the infection would spread by workers. And they work to prevent elderly from getting life saving HCQ. It is deliberate genocide of a generation. And they don’t want prying eyes
Does it also mean that if a country is corrupt or right or left winged everyone in the country is corrupt or politically affiliated with their governments? Never paint whole countries or organisations or people with broad strokes
CANADA UPDATE....Here in the province of British Columbia Canada, we never actually locked down, per se....we were asked to do the social distancing etc...but many businesses were still open, but had to adhere to provincial health protocols and regulations. Schools were closed, and on June 1st, there is limited participation. With a population in this province of only 5 million, so far we only have about 5-600 "active" cases and about 160 deaths, almost all are/were care home based. Our premier just let our provincial health department headed up by chief doctor, Dr Bonnie Henry, who is an expert in virology/pandemic situations to take control. So far, so good, but she stated that despite loosening up, the public MUST adhere to stringent requirements to prevent another problem. Obviously in more populated centers like Toronto, with almost 9 million, the problem has been more of an issue to handle, but that province seems to be getting a handle on it. As for Canada, generally, Quebec, seems to be the big sore spot. Not sure why it is only that province. Doctor Campbell may have an answer.
Yes bc is doing great for the first wave. But hopefully we can comply to keep down the viral load for the second wave. Seems like it was so easy that there is not enough fear of it where I live.
@@Cate7451 Yes, agreed, Dr Henry constantly reminds people that this is not over yet, and that despite "loosening" up a bit, things will be still be highly monitored. We don't know what the second wave (if one comes) will look like, but she has stated over and over that with the slightest irregularity, we must then go back to the partial lock down that we were in. She stated that there is no time to become complacent. I trust where she's going here. Keep well!
Quebec was hit hardest because their "spring break" was one week before Ontario/rest of Canada and before the do not travel recommendations so MANY young Quebecers went to Florida and caught it and brought it back. Ontario "just" started to lock down during that week and therefore fewer spring breakers (still some!) but less, so we had fewer spreaders. Ontario (citizens) have not complied well with masks/distancing etc. I live here and shocked at the lack of seeming concern. This will go on for quite some time as as we "ease" into reopening, we will see an explosion I am sure.....

A few clarifications regarding the Swedish figures: The 7.3% in with antibodies in Stockholm is from measurements done end of April which reflects the state in beginning of April. Am I right in believing the R value is always from one or two weeks ago ? On the press conference they seem to say “ estimated “ value, if that is the case we won’t know if it’s shot up until it’s too late so it’s always out of date ?
@Dr Campbell, with regards to the herd immunity requiring 60-70% of the population having been infected, this assumes an R0 that I believe has been floating around since Feb/Mar. With sporadic data coming in of far earlier cases of the virus (France in late December, California in late Jan), would you be able to touch on what the R0 value would be if we were to back-propogate models to those times, and also the impact this would have on the herd immunity percent values? It seems to me that models have not been updated to reflect this data and if the R0s are as high as reported in Feb/Mar, the case load I would have expected to be catastrophic by now due to exponential growth.

i would like to make people aware that the food packages given for the very vulnarable like my mum recovering from breast cancer surgery and my dad who has terminal lung cancer are a joke my mum thinks she has to be grateful but its nothing they can use thankfully i can do my mum and dads shopping if not they would be living on tins of corn pasta and rice with the odd tin of beans they did get some fruit last week but it had spoilt.

Also masks must be worn in public places
And yet, people in Bulgaria are about to ruin those nice numbers by going against the recommendations, crowding in the streets and even protesting. My mom's a nurse back there, really makes me worried when I hear these things.

Shout out to Guernsey ! No new cases for a week . It would be interesting to know how they went about it .

And actually it is no new cases for 27 days, and currently no active known cases
Dim Beam

Totally agree Dr wearing a mask has absolutely nothing to do with politics and I do not understand why in the world this is being done as such. Masks in public places will slow the spread. No you do not have to wear it at home, you do not wear it when driving in your car, you follow the instructions which is wear the danged thing when indoors in public places. There is no way I am the only one who sees the common sense in this right?
No your the only one, agree completely.
100% that is what needs to be done the world over!

Incredible.

@@LinusWelt 40% of what.
Amazing.
Did the ones testing positive for both ever have symptoms?
Ps MANY FALSE POSITIVES on antibody tests. Know someone who had antibodies but never sick and was proactive mainly stayed and worked at home with only contact her husband. Her husband tested negative.
@@notsogreen many of the antibody tests are flawed because they only test for coronavirus ie. if you've had a cold in the past few months you'll have antibodies to a coronavirus. There are still more antibody tests being trialed but so far none have proven to test for only Sars-CoV-2

Seems like it was so easy that there is not enough fear of it where I live.
...because Quebec is overcrowded? Just asking.
This will go on for quite some time as as we "ease" into reopening, we will see an explosion I am sure.....
russell , yes there is a lot of population there. Where are you from? Canada is bilingual officially and many Quebecois are descended from early French settlers as opposed to the British base elsewhere so that it is substantially a different culture. Maybe they talk louder, hug more or visit inside more. Although I agree with the other opinion as bc did great and northern bc greater(but we had blizzards and below 20' weather so lots of wind and no beaches.)
Not wearing masks is stupid, let's just go with that.
Keep adjusting that mask on your face spreading infection with your hands sounds about right

Hello from mexico, Thank you so much, you are such an inspiration, I have sent you a photo on Facebook, maybe someday I will see it in one of your videos, but anyway thank so much for everything, the world needs more people like you :)
Wow. YOU are really burning the midnight oil!
talking shit
He’s not talking about you!
@@jayvulture8327 it means that he is working late into the night, since this was posted at about 23:45 in England. I was complementing Dr. Campbell for staying up late and working so hard to help everyone.
Is there any way of zooming into each point a bit more? Maybe it's just me but I like running down the list with you explaining each but seeing what's coming next almost spoils it a bit, if that makes sense. Great videos as always though.
"Poppycock." 😆
Thank you for your daily briefing, as an admin for a heart illness recovery group, the information is a great help.
We direct and recommend our members to view them every day, far better than trying to keep the group educated than trying to put the information into context in different countries around the world.
Russia has quite a low median age ( 39 ) . Could explain the low fatality rate
Could do. A lot of men drink themselves to death before they get old.
Can't you afford to see a doctor? Are you American?
Yeah or Putin throws them out the window, thug country
Thank you good sir. Truly.
Politicians listen we must wear masks in public places .
Thank so much for your update .I look forward to watching every day.Arkansas here

thank you for the posting!
Kansas City is in both Kansas and Missouri.
That's such a funny thing about the US- having multiple states with the same city names :)
One dry, and the other not. Leads to lots of drunks crossing the bridge.
Am I right in believing the R value is always from one or two weeks ago ? On the press conference they seem to say “ estimated “ value, if that is the case we won’t know if it’s shot up until it’s too late so it’s always out of date ?
Doctors without Borders are working in Yemen they need support !!!!
@@GladIRecognizedABeautifulSoul really. What are we gonna do?
@@GladIRecognizedABeautifulSoul we live on a little ball out in the middle of nowhere, the least we can do is take care of one and other.
