Yes it would be much stiffer but I think it would still crack. The soft shoe goo and bendy dry wall tape allows flex and absorption of energy without cracking. Fibreglass would be much easier though.
I don't know if anyone's told you this or not that a shoe Goo and the drywall tape that's decent but I started using this gorilla glue it's the original gorilla glue and it I think it activates with water if you wanted to activate quicker but anyway I ran out of shoe Goo and I had a big bottle of this so I ended up using this and put a couple layers of the tape and put this on it and those bodies are hard as a brick bro had major crashes no damage to the bodies I wish I could do the same thing to the cars
Hey Kevin. May I suggest flex seal next time you reinforce a body.. I've been using flex seal on my bodies for a couple years and they all are as strong and new looking as the day I got them.. Just spray on the flex seal (in the color you want) peel mask asap, let dry and go..
Is the flex seal method easier then getting shoe glue and the drywall tape and doing this method? Or is it just a no brainer if you can get it. I’m going to get an xmaxx soon and I really don’t want to be replacing the body because they are expensive. If the flex seal is easier how exactly do you do it? Spray it on peel the left over residue off (I’ve never used flex seal before) let them dry and then they are good? Also how much would you put on?

Hey Kev! I have been using the fiberglass sheetrocking tape and hot glue to hold down and then few coats of Flex Seal spray on mine black and white depends on the color of the body! Few extra coats on the corners and body mounts areas!😉👍
After you do your sheet rock finishing tape and shoe goo and it dries go back and put the spray cans of bedliner over that or if you want to really go extreme put bedliner then do your sheet rock finishing tape and goo! then put another layer of bedliner over that!

I’ve done this as well. I usually use car door edge trim to go around the body and it makes it last so much longer. I honestly think it makes more of a difference than the drywall tape and Shoegoo.

I have Typhon 3s be with spektrum electronics. I wish I would have seen it the year before with the Arrma electronics. 2nd run out of box, servo pentameter whent out, waited 2 1/2 months due to backordered. When it finally came in and repaired, on the first run the motor completely seized. Another 2 month wait for warranty back order. I bout an Eco servo incase I had.the problem again, and sure enough, had to replace a 3rd servo. The eci will be spare if this one doesn't work. I wont trust spektrum. Why change things that dont need to be..

Open area , if ya can't open some windows , bare minimum use a fan. Those fumes are really nasty can give you a nasty headache, get you stoned. Don't do the goo and go drive your full size car.
I wouldn't change the primal to electric either, the sound of that 2 stroke tuned pipe adds to the thrill of watching that beast bash around. Besides M.T's are supposed to be loud 💯🤟🙆
I mean, I have a X-MAXX 8S and a Kraton 1/5 8S EXB and while both of them can use upgrades out of the box, the X-MAXX needs about 3x the cost in upgrades over the Kraton. The X-MAXX is REQUIRED to have new tires, new pinion and spur gears, captured hinge pins, a new servo to replace the plastic geared crap that’s included, and new arms at the very least out of the box before it’s ever ran. Within a month it’s going to need a new ESC (I’ve been through 3 of the Traxxas ESCs before switching to a Max6 Hobbywing) and usually a new motor to go with it. At that point you can drive it and it’ll make it through a battery pack. It’ll still break but the parts are cheap after replacing all of the above. I got sick of replacing cheap parts constantly and figured I’d put some more power in it so I went with nearly all of the M2C parts. My Kraton 8S 1/5 EXB was a roller so I got to stick a Castle XLX2 and 800kV sensored motor in it and didn’t pay for stock electronics when purchased. I threw some M2C parts at it after a while and whenever I had a part break but the only parts that ever broke was the outdrives that bent. I could have just bent them back. I’ve also put my Kraton through far more than my XMAXX. I usually don’t jump my XMAXX too much because the metal gears that Traxxas uses in the diffs are trash.
FYI Goolrc motors are made in the exact same factory, using the exact same materials and specifications, all that techno babble. They hire out goolrc to make their motors in their factories, and as part of the contract, they allow goolrc to make a certain number of certain lines of the hobbywing motors.
Hey Kevin great video as usual. I asked this question in the comments during the live but it's so fast and busy I'm sure it was hard to see. But since you were working on the body I thought I would give you another tip for making a damn near indestructible body. Have you ever tried using a Spray on Truck Bed liner. It works great, I do it on all my 1/5 the scale bodies.
Yea he's tried it, too heavy and brittle for the expense and agro of installing iirc, he did a video once where he tried like 5 or 6 different things including that, the sho glue thing with the plaster tape is consistently the best (with other rc tubers too) because it's cheap, accessible, easy to apply and not too heavy. Personally I don't cover the whole shell cos it's designed to flex in places to take upside-down hits, so I just put it in weak/impact spots as opposed to all over and it coes very very well, I work with composites building car body panels for a career so have experimented with all sorts, thus works the best imo!
I was a press operator, ran a 800 ton automated press making car parts. I use to make the gas shells for Mercedes AMG. Just got fired on Sept 16th Dream car is a 67 Shelby GT 500 I would love an XMaxx, saving up to get one.

No tape works as well as mesh and shoe goo! Dirt gets under gorilla tape and it fails. The shoe goo seals and prevents dirt and water from pulling off the mesh.

Hey Kev instead of useing your shoegoo and dry wall tape you can buy a fibreglass kit and put it on the inside of the body to make it hard as a rock.
It would also make it weigh a ton, and crack and break apon crashing.

Also the problem with your tires turn them inside out and put gorilla or duck tape in them and then mount and balance them with sticky tack
