  • This is the recommended fix from Charles & Ivy to secure 1.8 x 90 decorative panels used as decking balustrades.
The solution works very well but requires you to carry out significant alterations to the channel which is a filler piece normally used in concrete or wooden posts to take wood effect panels. It is a shame that Charles and Ivy can not supply these channels already formed. Tools required are a 3.5 angle grinder, ruler, right angle, and drill.

Hello I’ve just watched your video about the Charles & Ivy fence with decorative screen - have you made any adaptations to the screen at the top to stop it moving around - ours has bowed due to the fact it’s not held in place at all by the fence panel only by the fence post at either side!! Would be interested to hear your thoughts thanks so much

Hi mate, how did you screw on the aluminium posts to the ground? Finding it difficult to do and there are not many instructions if any at all

You need to fit a square foot plate that bolts onto the bottom of the post, part number (SKU: COACH-10-BOLT-176773) you can then use 4 wood bolts to fix to a deck or expansion bolts if fitting into concrete.

@@douglasbrands4248 thanks for your reply! I’ve put the square plate onto the post, but I was having trouble with the expansion bolts. They recommend to use an 8mm drill bit, but once I made the hole, the expansion plate/bolt wouldn’t fit in the hole

@@aksharpatel6920 if you are using the supplied bolts they should fit if not, I would take the bottom plate to a store where you can purchase bolts and a drill that will fit the dimensions of the footplate. This should be a fairly easy task, is it possible that Charles and Ivy have given the wrong fixings?

@@aksharpatel6920 I thought it was a 10mm drill bit for the fixing that come with the kit?

They now make a top channel to prevent this, previous channels were aluminium now replaced with composite
