Sound bites have been common in most of punk and a lot of the subgenres much longer than ‘05, they’ve been common in underground hip hop for longer, too.
I can see why some would find this childish, but that's kinda the point of some grindcore and some punk. And that's also the reason why I love this type of music. It's very silly.

I think the problem for me is that I never cared for sponge bob that much and I'm also really sick of seeing memes all the time about the show and I just find it annoying. If you get what I mean.
