  • The NHRA is extreme no matter how you look at it and when you crash at speeds of nearly 400 miles per hour it can be very ugly but at the same time you can’t look away! #NHRA #Racing #Sport

    When I was a kid (under 10) I'd love going to watch drag racing (I'm 64 now). Poor as Pete and couldn't afford to get in. I'd sneak in when I could but got caught by one of the employees of the track. He would let me in and I would pick up trash after. He also let the other tracks to let me in for the same deal. I was hardly worth it when I was 8 but I got better.
    Probably why I've had a bit of hard hearing all my life...Ha. Worth it. Learned you could wet tissue paper and put in your ears and it worked pretty good. Had to have my brother dig it out when I got home.

    Rails & Funny Cars have reached their peak because they're blowing up at an alarming rate. They must scale it back before the worst happens which is fast approaching . Sure the fans like explosions. It's excitement galore. These are time bombs just waiting to go BOOM!

      Craig Pennington they use liquid dynamite for fuel lol aka nitro. Hot weather plays a role too. I’ve seen them when they’re in town the last 3 years and expect to do the same this year.

    • @Bent099
      @Bent099 6 років тому +1

      When you consider the fact that unlike your daily driver which has a controlled combustion in the cylinder, these are merely containing a violent explosion. That's a part of the game these guys play. In the last decade driver safety has grown in leaps in bounds. To say say top fuel dragsters and nitro funny cars have reached their peak is very foolish indeed.

    As electrical tech is developed, l believe the days of dangerous internal combustion fuel burners will fade,away. No more driving a potential bomb. Electrical motor fails you get sparks and smoke but no explosion and fire, shrapnel pieces,and parts all over the strip. Safer and less expensive. I believe superior speed is coming too. I suppose hardcore drag racers and fans would miss the earth shaking, eardrum splitting noise. Surprised not more jet and rocket powered dragsters compete.

    • @xxzenonionnex7658
      @xxzenonionnex7658 5 років тому

      Electric motors will set the wires on fire and stuff and unmodified gas motors aren't dangerous and they don't explode. These dragster motors are using nitro methane that is way more dangerous than gas or diesel
