The game is becoming more perimeter oriented. To be honest all skills should be important. Positionless basketball is what helped the Spurs win. Instead of guards, forwards, and centers with only a specific skillset, kids should learn all and become pure "basketball players".

I mean you've seen other NBA players how they learned new skills throughout their careers. LeBron became a better shooter and learned some post moves, Kevin Garnett was a big man who has perimeter skills and shooting which is similar to what Anthony Davis is turning into, and even Dirk is a 7 footer that has great shooting as well. Another great example is Jordan who eventually became a more complete player with passing and defense and shooting and didn't just rely on his athleticism.
