    He moves so fluid for a guy 6'10". He's not NBA ready right now, but we'll definitely be seeing him in the league in a few years!

    Dude has skills of a point guard and moves of a power forward. Great player!

  • @DanPajun
    @DanPajun 10 років тому +8

    Since he's 6-10, he's gonna be a pf/c so he needs to develop that position's type of play to be in the NBA. No team is gonna draft a center trying to drive in and cross people up. He has great handles for a big man, but is gonna get ripped by guards or blocked by a center (he towered all of these people in the video but NBA centers are a lot bigger and stronger). If he develops a great post game and builds up strength and defense, then yea he'll be NBA ready.

    • @MidnightWZRD
      @MidnightWZRD 10 років тому +13

      Not necessarily. Giannis antetokoumpo is damn near 7 feet and the bucks are thinking about letting him play point and he already plays small forward. The game has evolved to a point where height doesn't necessarily determine play style and position.

    • @SidestickPilot
      @SidestickPilot 10 років тому +3

      Perry jones, Paul George, Kevin Durant, gianis antentokoumpo all are over 6'10 except Paul he's 6'9.5

    • @DanPajun
      @DanPajun 10 років тому

      @Christian, a point guard is there to make plays and distribute the ball. This dude is showing off his scoring ability, not his passing ability. Also, Antetokounmpo averages about 1 apg and about 7 ppg so he's not going to be very efficient at that position.
      @Bailey, Both PG & KD are 6-9 and are starting SFs so they have a different play style than Harry Giles would have. And for Perry Jones, his career avg is only 3.5 ppg, showing that his play style is not very effective.
      @nellek970, I was assuming he was 6-10 because of the info given in the video, and all of my opinions were based on the observations from this video. If he was 6-10, he would play a 4/5, making his drive-in play-type obsolete. That's why I said he would have to become a stronger post player, because that's what is gonna get him buckets in the NBA, not driving to the basket getting ripped by guards or blocked by big men.

    • @MidnightWZRD
      @MidnightWZRD 10 років тому +1

      Hey no need for that language bro. Keep it clean man. And while what you said is true Giannis has been highly touted for the huge amount of potential he has. Dudes 19 and is a freak of nature. He can handle the rock and is literally getting better everyday. He'll break out soon. I say so and so do many experts. I could see Giles becoming a very versatile player. I'm not saying he'll be amazing but I do think he'll do better off being well rounded instead of specializing. Some guys just aren't meant to bang down low.

    • @habenmalcolm1316
      @habenmalcolm1316 10 років тому

      Tbh, he could probably only play the 3 and 4 position. He only has an average handle, and is not athletic enough to be a true wing player. He isn't built enough to play the 5. This leaves him playing playing at the two forward spots, due to being athletic enough to play the 4 and his jumpshot looks good enough to see him playing the 3. He reminds me of Anthony Davis, with a mid range jumper, handles for his size, and PF length

    >NBA ready.
    no, stop calling teenagers NBA ready. Last time someone legit came into the league as a teen and had a real impact before their 20s was Lebron. Give these kids time to develop before slapping "NBA ready" in front of their names

    • @kentavious6437
      @kentavious6437 10 років тому +2

      Much agreed.
      Calling this guy NBA ready is such a stretch. I also hate to see when these people over-hype these young raw prospects and compare them to NBA greats. I've seen it, for myself; prospects get all hyped up, and go into the league and bust, except for some fortunate ones.
      But man, if all these teenagers lived all to all the hype upon entering the NBA, the league shouldn't be nearly as bad as it is.

      It's just most of them that end up busts.

    Idk why people says he needs to keep to his position. There are a lot of superstars who dont/didn't play their "assigned" position based on their height. Position is based on playing style. I can see him playing the 3 if he developed a better shot(not sure if he has a reliable shot or not).

  • @avancons1
    @avancons1 10 років тому +1

    The game is becoming more perimeter oriented. To be honest all skills should be important. Positionless basketball is what helped the Spurs win. Instead of guards, forwards, and centers with only a specific skillset, kids should learn all and become pure "basketball players".

    • @kibskibs498
      @kibskibs498 9 років тому

      The Spurs have one Championship in a decade Stop using them as a model team. Just stop.

    • @avancons1
      @avancons1 9 років тому

      I'm not saying that you should be better at everything just because the Spurs won. Wouldn't it be great to be an all-around player? I mean you've seen other NBA players how they learned new skills throughout their careers. LeBron became a better shooter and learned some post moves, Kevin Garnett was a big man who has perimeter skills and shooting which is similar to what Anthony Davis is turning into, and even Dirk is a 7 footer that has great shooting as well. Another great example is Jordan who eventually became a more complete player with passing and defense and shooting and didn't just rely on his athleticism. It's all about evolution and bringing out more skills and not just following the status quo that just because you're big you just practice post moves or if you're a guard you just focus on dribbling and disregard boxing out and rebounding.

    • @kibskibs498
      @kibskibs498 9 років тому

      darkyinyang1 the traditional man are dying out because the speed of the game is too fast. Look at Cousins, the top big man right now. He is the closest we will see of a traditional big man until that Tacko makes it to the NBA, or if Sim Bhullar gets called up.

    • @avancons1
      @avancons1 9 років тому

      I understand that and I actually feel your sentiment. I too am a fan of the traditional big man. May I just add Al Jefferson and and Enes Kanter to the traditional big men. And also if you follow college basketball, Jahlil Okafor whom I assume everybody knows he's a highly regarded choice for National Player of the Year and a sure top-3 pick in the NBA Draft. And for the game becoming too fast we just really can't help how life is. Throughout generations people have been getting bigger, stronger, and faster. Defenses are getting more intricate and offenses are getting more creative with passing because of the lack of true bigs. I adore traditional big men but it's hard for them to survive in today's game. Believe me when I say that I actually wanted to be as big as Shaq growing up because of the way he plays. Even Cousins, just to add, is surely a traditional center who can score in the post but is also a mix of the contemporary center who can handle the ball and has good court vision who can pass and also do a one-man fast break. So what I'm saying is that I'm not against the traditional big, it's just that the game is transcending and traditional big men can still exist and thrive as long as they follow the wave and learn to pass or shoot as to complement their traditional way of playing to make up for the new generation's game.

    • @kibskibs498
      @kibskibs498 9 років тому

      darkyinyang1 yeah so they aren't traditional anymore, they are new age big men with old school aspects. I am excited to see Tacko Fal and the 7'6" dude's future.

    Id like to see the dream or patrick ewing on the wing trying to stop this kid. I see a great future ahead for him. Unlike kd this kid is not a shooter. He can but he is more of a slasher and tenaciously attacks the rim. No disrespect to kd who i know is on a whole nother level but this is how he is supposed to play. Use his quickness and agility to get shots at the rim not for getting off three pointers and mid range jumpers.

    • @Ash-Buu

      Ok another youtube idiot. First of all not being a shooter does not mean you cant shoot. Only someone who does not know basketball wouldn't understand that. Is LeBron a shooter, was Micheal jordan a shooter, was Allen Iverson a shooter big fat fuckin no!!! Could those guys shoot yes but that wasn't their game. They lacked the natural fluidity of a pure jump shot like ray allen, steph curry, kevin durant where it just looks effortless. Those who know basketball can look at player and categorize their games for example the terms shooter, slasher, defender, shoot first point gaurds, floor general, etc. From watching him. Its clear he is a slasher. As for highlights they usually depict what it is a person does best because they make the best plays doing so. For example if you watch Allen. Iverson highlights they are going to be of him slashing to the basket or crossing people over, jason kidds will be flashy passes, and lobs, steph currys are going to be of him crossing people an hitting threes. Its clear this kids strengths are slashing and finishing OR ELSE HE WOULDN'T HAVE SO MANY HIGHLIGHTS DOING SO!!! I didn't say k.d wouldn't do this in high school. I'm comparing player styles u idiot. Kd is not a slasher he is a shooter can he slash? of course. But slashing is not his go to he has an away from the basket game mid range jumpers, high post, and three pointers. Once again because your bad listening skills i am not stating he cant or doesn't go to the rack. He can that is just not what he more often elects to do. personally i believe this is the idiot from the last comment argument i had because they have the same disses and poor comprehensive skills. In other words your stupid and i schooled your dumb ass again. Just admit my b ball understanding is impeccable.

      Matt Kaufman You mean 0% of predictions have him going to UK, not a zero percent chance. Your misinterpreting the crystal ball on 247.

    How long you think this guy can play without getting injured? Most of the bigger guys nowadays plays with the passion of handling the ball. Okay i get it if you got the speed to back it up its a good thing to be a slasher.But take example,Greg Oden was a good "big man" and he was athletic enough,got injured,nowadays KD getting injured more often.
    I mean if you have a big "body" and not a freak (with all respect,actually i hate him but..) like LeBron was in his first 4-6 years then you better make the game simpler for yourself.Why would you think LeBron would learn post-up and under the rim game from Hakeem or imitate some of the better Shooters like Kobe-Jordan-Arenas-Brandon Roy instead of bullying his way to a highlight dunk or running all the floor like a mad man?
    And btw some of the morons down below even ask how would Patrick Ewing defend this guy,c'mon don't be ridicilous,even Barkley would eat this guy at his breakfast. They're just power beasts and they'd body this guy so hard to that level that he'd want to quit playing against 'em.
