- Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are fleeing Putin’s military assault into neighboring Romania. They arrive exhausted and traumatized, but are safe there. Yet some are heading in the opposite direction, to join their families in war-ravaged Ukraine.
Maria and her two grandchildren had to flee from a village near Odesa. They hitchhiked and walked, Maria with the help of her walker frame. The Black Sea port of Odesa was bombed right at the start of the war. 71-year-old Maria and her two grandchildren travel through the turmoil of war to reach the Danube River, which forms part of the border to Romania and the EU. After two full days with hardly a break, Maria is exhausted when they finally arrive at the border. But because her identity documents don’t meet EU requirements, she isn’t permitted to enter Romania. She and her grandchildren find themselves caught in a bureaucratic limbo, uncertain what the future holds.
Nadja and Roman - which are not their real names -- are determined to head in the opposite direction, into war-torn Ukraine. The two were on holiday in Turkey when war broke out at home. Now they want to get back as quickly as possible. Their two children are waiting with their grandmother in Kharkiv, one of the Ukrainian cities under heavy attack by Putin’s troops. Will they reach their family in time? And what will happen to them then?

this is so heart breaking. can't hold my tears from start of this film. for a lot of us, we only need to deal with the pandemic, for them , plus this, fleeing from their homes, where some maybe don't even know where to go. :(
Thank you for this very intimate portrayal of what the Ukrainians are going through. There are so many stressors involved in being uprooted like this. Fatigue and pain and fear and worry is not good for anybody. I pray for the Ukrainian people everyday and also for those looking after them in various ways. What's happening in Ukraine is different story. Ukrainians were living peacefully under a democratic way of life. Take note please, they were not quarelling among themselves.They have a very good economy and enjoy their culture.
This war is an aggresion, it is an invasion on the sovereinty of Ukraine by Russia. Putin of Russia authored and ruthlessly conducted this aggression. Putin is a man who has an illusion of reviving the mighty Imperial Russia of the past and wants to claim back those countries that once belonged to Russia. Ukraine was one of those countries. But Ukraine is no longer a part of Russia since it broke away years back to put up its own government the Democratic way. Poland, Romania, Hungary, Georgia, Moldovia, Lithuania did the same.
Ukraine is very near Russia and for many years been under the Russian threat of attack for many years. In fact, in 2014 Russia attacked Ukraine and it occupied Crimea. Unprovoked Russia simply did it. Russia, simply rendered Ukrainians to daily live in fear by watching battle tanks and armed soldiers in their country. Given these kind of scenarios Ukreanians of course, very much take things seriously because doing so are matters for their survival. And yet they quietly went on with their lives as if things are normal. Then came the covid virus pandemic. After two years the effects of the reeling and devastating effect of pandemic was just slowing down. Then one day on Februar 24 Ukraine was awakened by the horrible sound of bombings around. Now, who can keep a cool head of that where there was chaos and people dying. Watching from afar my heart breaks for these people now becoming refugees. Of course im thankful to God im here in my own country without the bombings. But who knows..uncertainty is our future.

Everyone looks absolutely exhausted. Very troubling to see all of this. Praying for 🇺🇦 from 🇨🇦 may peace come to all of you quickly. I'd like to say that I also feel for all Russians caught up in this due to Putin's greed because I'm sure that there are Russians who don't want to fight Putin's war and yet they're suffering as well. By now there's no way a soldier can say...oh I thought it was just an exercise because you can't total neighboring cities to ashes and believe this is only a special operation...impossible!
For 8 years, Ukrainian troops bombed Donetsk and Luhansk, why didn't you worry about the inhabitants of these cities?

Without document's, you get criminals, pedos, and you can't check record's without document's. When you have an idiot for president's like america, and everywhere else who let these kind of criminals in. My friend's daughter was sexually assaulted in a park in broad daylight. They deported the sicko back to his country.
In Romania everyone from Ukraine is accepted, even if they don't have a passport or id card. But there is a certain procedure at the border and this is why they need to wait, if they don't have a valid document.

I have seen several interviews of Ukrainians, including with government officials, asking them if they believed the war would happen and every single one said no. The country was left open to attack and kept at a low state of readiness. As well as Ukrainian defences have been holding up, they could be doing much better if they took the warnings seriously months ago and prepared accordingly.
There are many traitors in the Ukrainian government. In 2019, many military programs were stopped.

The European entitlement is what I actually observe past month, no one blinked when the Rohingya were & still remains displaced, no one had 24/7 coverage of the tamil extermination... We live on different dimensions. They keep talking about a global community, there are none, it's just on papers & for the kids to form a sense of security & something imaginary to aspire to like a mythological tale.
The Rohingya went to Bangladesh and there was no extermination of Tamils, not to mention Tamils have a place to go.

There are clearly different perceptions, but i don’t think it is principled or ideological. There is just a cognitive tendency to empathize more with people that one can relate to, with shared traditions and values. We also form connections based on geographic proximity. But morally, if you put any suffering human or family in front of the average person they would care equally. Other factors like ethnicity or religion would be irrelevant.

@@AdventureSam With the right weapons Russia is toast. Just a matter of when these arrive. Speaking of Vietnam it was the Super Power of the world vs Peasants basically. There were 3,000,000 Vietnamize in total killed against last I have heard 58,000 US Troops. Something interesting also is that the USA dropped more tonnage of bombs during this time that was dropped during all of WW2 with the exception of the Nukes. This still staggers my mind. Plus after the war the Vietnamize started mining certain heavy bombed areas, one being the HoChimen (spellchecker thing) Trail. And last I hear were still mining it 15 years ago.

Putin already lost
Ukraine already won the war. Everything putin set out to do has either failed utterly, or had the opposite effect he was looking for. As for his objectives, it is at best a catastrophic failure. Literally the only thing he managed to accomplish was the mass murder of thousands of Ukrainian men, women, children, and even babies. That and he also murdered 10,000 of his own troops by sending them to do what he himself is too weak and cowardly to do.
They would have escaped also without war, but had no chance of asylum. Now they can go.
What a shame the Ukrainians had such a weak and pathetic leader that didn't realize the consequences of flirting with NATO. Now the people must suffer.
