If you can drive it 299, hit 12 greens and putt above average you’ll only miss the cut by 6.
awesome idea to bring on a actual pro who has been through it!! An amazing insight that we never get to really see or hear about unless we dig and research. I look forward to episodes to come!
Rewound about five times to hear the simultaneous, harmonized "wow" from Guy and Rick at 1:01. Cracked me up
Someone should start a program where people living close to the courses can sign up volunteering to host offering these players to stay at their home for the event. Would be a kind gesture to help them save some money
Think they do, it’s certainly relevant on the women’s game looking at social media posts.
@@paulcox4804 lmao. Wonder why!
Excellent Podcast today guys, so interesting to learn the difficulties, different levels and financial challenges in working through the system. It sounds so difficult for any aspiring golfer. Can’t wait to listen in on Thursday for part 2 and good on James for being so honest and open about how he felt throughout
Listened to the entire podcast on a driving trip today. What a great interview. My wife is a school teacher and about all the boys in her classes want to be pro athletes. At some point in their lives they need to understand how incredibly difficult it is and that most don’t make it.
The life of a journey man golfer is alot different than people expect, but then look at this week we saw Bland winning his first ever tournament at the age of 48. Golf is such a rewarding game when you are in the winners circle.
i remember back in 1993, challange tour in austria, thomas bjorn was sleeping in the clubhouse restaurant, when it was closed in the evening
James is a great coach!
The bigger Golf UA-camrs can change this game , you play with these young amazing golfers that want to go pro and appear to have what it takes to do so , they shoot with you off and on to get their name out while also helping your channel grow for not much in return for the views they help you get but instead when time comes you help sponsor them.
This is exactly what Good Good is doing with quite a few awesome young golfers and I think it is huge for them.
Then when a Good Good is sponsored by a major compny like Callaway it's like a bridge so Good Good helps them ease their pro stress then when they show they can manage a career in pro golf they already have a relationship or connection to the big guys like Callaway.
To me this is a future resource unlike any before , and it keeps it in the game of golf , UA-cam and ppl like Rick and Good Good are now a tremendous Avenue for young great future pro golfers.
It will only get bigger and everybody profits from it in some way.
It is always nice to hear pros in many sports talk about the " not so glamorous side".most people dont understand that part. It is the same with professional bass fishing. People think that all you do is fish and get free $100k boats. That is so far from reality.
Looking forward to part two on Thursday, great work Guy and Rick
would love to watch this in it's entirety rather than just listening to it.
Spotify, Apple podcasts
@@bradenhudson7911 he said watch. He means he wants the entire episode uploaded here on video
Just talking from experience - generally if you pay local tax you will not need to pay that in the UK (double taxation rules). So, for example, if you pay tax which is at a higher percentage than what you would pay in the UK, you can claim that additional tax back. If, however, the tax you pay in country is less than the UK then you would just pay the extra tax you would have paid in the UK
Great content Rick, really interesting
What a great piece, very interesting.
That is mental!!! I can’t believe that! It’s not all sunshine but I tell y what I’d give up my day job to play pro golf even if I only walked away with 50k a year. Better than looking at 4 walls day in day out! 😅
Personally not a fan of podcasts but love these videos 👍🏼
The best scratch golfer you’ve ever played with wouldn’t last 4 months with the SHARKS.
Mr. Shiels . How about I come out to UK and get some lessons? Bet your skills could get me on Par. It will be a challenge, lol. Or how bout you come to SW FL for a vacation on me. Lol
What an insight!
Very interesting!
In his book Sam torrence used to share a motor home in his early years.
i remember back in 1993, challange tour in austria, thomas bjorn was sleeping in the clubhouse restaurant, when it was closed in the evening.
Wow! I can write you a cheque for £50k, but it's likely to bounce. Sorry mate!🥴
Tax explanation isn’t quite tight, but the point is a pertinent one.come on Rick, you know how good he is: write a cheque for 100k and back him for a season. You would more than make it back on the content. Would be awesome
Someone should start a golf league where they actually pay players when they turn pro …. oh wait! lol love this interview. thanks!
Sounds like running a business. Everybody thinks you make lots of money. But they forget that a large percentage goes towards expenses and tax.
Wow, this surprised me.
Cool podcast
ilive on a course in newyork come on down
Arnt some pga open events open to the public with 1.5 handicap to monday qualify similar to the US Open?
Yes but if you are not a plus handicap good luck getting in
Subbed to RS 2nd🏌️♀️
Who is the guy Rick is talking to?
And who is the pro being interviewed? There is no name in the description.
says james in the description his last name is robinson
It's hard to believe that people can get throught this part of pro golf and "make it" on World Tour or PGA Tour. It's no wonder they always cry when they get their first win. It means Guido won't be waiting with a bat and some persuasion when they get home.
its pretty much the same for most pro sorts. even tennis. only the guys in the top20 on the ATP spot actually make coin. the rest are just burning money
Why do you get some really young guys out of college etc straight into the big tours?
Just go on the LIV your for a week
Not on 50, need 75-100, or your at Waffle House every day.
So win or lose, caddy's still get paid...hmmm £40+k a year
sounds like a steal
it’s criminal that golf coaches call themselves pros. This guy is a pro. Been on tour
LOL CLEARLY YOU DONT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRO TEACHING AND TOUR PLAYING LMAO
@@MeanMints5 should be called professional teacher not golfer. I always thought that. Some of em have got handicaps as high as 6 and they think they can make me a better player when I’d slap them all over the golf course. It’s a scam. Teach yourself like football & cricket.
@@2sqnbandit379 pro golfer and tour player there’s a difference.
One good pro gave up late 60s, after expenses he barely had a good wage.
Wow! This would be a scam of it wasn't for it being golf.
Law is the same. You pay £35k for a legal education and may not get a training contract or pupillage. One could argue at £30k for a degree the entire university education system is a racket to make them money. Because the student loans are paid back gradually and at low interest people don’t see it. A Ponzi scheme.
No ‘it would be’ about it. It is a scam that few profit from.
Fascinating.
Goes pro and starts paying his caddy 800-900k a week 1:15 crazy lad that credit card must have had no limit!
I think he mean 800,900,1000 /week. If my interpretation is correct cause I heard the same thing as you hahahahha
I want to like this video but theirs 69 likes so I refuse. I’ll check back later when someone else breaks the seal.
*there's. And you can come back now, if you'd like.... to like.
And this situation is probably worse for the women players because the purses are much smaller. The viewing public only get to see the top players on TV and think that’s how everyone lives. Many of them simply give up the game because of the cost involved.
silver spoon game no doubt
You don't have to have a coach, you don't have to pay a caddy, you could legitimately buy a small rv or large van and just use that for travel and lodging. So most of the cost is just not being willing to make a sacrifice.
Half the tour must be trust fund babies
Crown funded sponsorship???
Caddy doesn't make 900k a week ffs
Not chance he talking balls fs best footballers in world don't even make near 900k a week loll
@@garyhindes5426 he said he could be paying £800 £900, even a grand not 800k lol
@@ryanowen9085 well it sounded like 900k lol
Yeah, think he made a mistake there. Shouldn't have said the k.
Start a Go fund me
I know it's your show but why does Rick get to sit in the comfy chair and the two others get to sit in lawn chairs 🤣
Yeah you can earn that sitting in an office but why the fuck would you when you can make that playing golf? 😂
Win some tournaments and you have nothing to worry about
A caddy makes 900k a week?!?!
£900 per week plus usually 10% prize money for who ever they caddied
all that cost to not pay your last guy???
not fresh
