Replace that broken, old, boring normal key with a fancy flip key!
Better than a fidget spinner, handy ear flicker or just a smarter key for your Peugeot...
I am demonstrating this on a Peugeot 206 key, but many other Peugeot and Citroen keys are identical...plus other manufacturers are very similar in principle.

Thanks a lot! I'd just tried to swap cases myself but missed that tiny little transmitter. The end result was a key fob that I could use to open the door but not start the engine with. The engine would rev when I turned the key but no ignition. It was only after I've watched your video that I found out about that little transmitter. Now it works! Thanks!

So I recently had a problem with my Pug 206...I bought a new fob and car didn't wanna start...took me 3 days to realize it was the transponder,good thing I saved the old fob :D

I finally did this, bought a citroen keyfob that was just like that one, removed the blade, got a chinese blade made for Peugeot that didn't actually work, bought a decent blade and assembled everything!
It looks horrible! xD (better than the old shell anyways)
This chinese shell should have one more screw near the spring, it looks like this thing is gonna crack open at any moment xD
Ahhh yeah there are some cheap ones and then some really cheap ones which are a bit rubbish, I found that too!

Want to do this with my house key and fob for the alarm system in one module, do you reckon it'd be possible? Replacement fobs are 40 quid and the entire system including the one fob was only 50 so I want to try and do something myself.

DJA 67 a smart man doesn't spend more than needed on a simple item luxury is a mere thought of imagination and or a way to flaunt your wealth I drive a 04 it's 2018 I make good money for my age and where I stand I also owned a 2014 Silverado took it back to the dealer cause it was a lemon back in 2014 and got myself a Colorado instead I own my own house 2 trucks and my big rig and reefer yes I didn't start here I worked in the oil rigs now I'm a owner operator but from what I dress and drive you would never guess I made 160k last year and if all goes good this year I'll be a tad above that thus far it's looking promising

there are 2 types of stock keys for the 206
one of them is just like this one with a separate transponder and the other looks the same but has the transponder soldered on the board so maybe if you could tell me does it matter which one i buy when im buying a new key online or do i have to look out for that
Joško Bačić The earlier 206 has a different key, yes, has only one button. So you'll need a key to suit that

also has 2 buttons and looks the same on the outside but on the inside it has a transponder integrated on the circut board instead of a separate one

Hey mate love your channel! I’ve got a 2000 1.8 306 estate so loving the Peugeot content. Was curious as to how I’d go about getting one of these fobs. The two keys I got when I bought the car only work by putting them in the door locks. Guy said they had been submerged in salt water so I’m guessing the CPU chip is shot. Any idea on how to get a new one mapped?

Hi there. I've yet to find one of these flip fobs that fits the guts of a 306 key into it. I managed to bodge one in for the racetractor key but the lock button became the unlock and visa versa. If you have had no joy with a new battery in yours, you will need a new key fob circuit and then the 4 digit code for your cars internal ECU. Then someone with Peugeot planet to code it in 👌🐷💪

It was till I dropped it... And stood on it simultaneously... Managed to put it back together and it works .. unlock is a little hit n miss though... But I feel perhaps that's because it's not aligned correctly... Was 100% till this 'incident'

Keytuheaven it was an ebay purchase. Intentionally didn't put a link as different vehicles need different fobs, including even the 206.

is it possible to buy one of these and use the key blade from the old key, or do I have to order it with the new blade and have it cut?
Unless you've already got a flip key, no, as you can see the original blade has a totally different design on the one end and no way of rotating in the new fob
I have a question about this. My GF has this same kind key what you had in the beginning, but the buttons are missing. If i order a new key cover, does it work with just the chip thing or do i have to program the new key entirely?
Cover is a cover...but check the actually buttons are on the board still 👍
I found the exact same fob as you have, but then I noticed that my Peugeot 206 key doesn't have that hole in the tip. Will that be a problem? (I've got a 206 generation 2009, perhaps that is viable info). The rest of the key is of a similar type, just not the hole.

@@PiggyPower I did temporarily transfer it to the replacement fob but same issue also replaced battery and nothing I think it may be a connector issue may need to be soldered

Hi, thanks for the video, I just ordered one for my 307, the only thing on my mind is the immobilizer that I would damage it during the process in order to get it out from the old one and place it in the new one and secondly, is it safe to put glue below the immobilizer in order to make sure it holds on? Hi there,. Yes that would be ok if it was a low grade glue .. using a small piece of foam would more more advisable though.

@@fehemashref1326 yes it did work, but it's not that much of a good quality. Even the flip, sometimes it tends not to open full if you place it upside down. And with regards to the central locking I had to place a small foam piece in order for the buttons to work

Ok... But I wish to know... how you can turn on the engine with that flip key? So if I do this I must take two pairs of key, the new one (flip remoted) and the old one, only for turn on/off the engine. Is it right?
Sunlex90 did you watch the whole video? In part of it I show how you need to take the chip out the old key and insert it in the new one... This allows you to use the new key to start your car 👍🐷

My 107's main key has one of the little silver things off on the unlock button. so even if i press the button it wont unluck. Is there any fix for that?
You can buy new buttons or a fob and just switch the guts 👌
Heyyyy!whats up? What if i completely changed the original key circuit to a totally different new one( which it says for Peugeot) so my problem is
1)this same flip key upgrade if do to my 406 will it work fine? I have the original transponder anyway
2)my old key has only one button to remote unlock and lock the car so in the new flip key i have 3 buttons any idea of how to program those 3 buttons at least 2 of them?
You won't be able to do it like that. Systems won't talk to one another.
So will this work the other 2 button where the one button opens and locks and the arms the alarm at all please
You are using the same buttons/internals ...not changing them. So anything that worked before...will continue to work

No, eBay. I used to have a link up but every 30days it would expire... I couldn't keep up.
@@PiggyPower ahh, don't want to go there again ffs after my failed washer jets escapade....was less effort to modify them myself in the end rather than hunting down the right part. Got them spraying good now though 🤣🤣🤣
Should mention that the old key can't start the car anymore since you removed the transponder (ie the small black chip).
Magnus Dagbro that does depend... I have unlocked ECUs so...it will still start the car. Still a useful spare nonetheless as you may lock the other key inside the car or if you do loose the key with transponder at least you could get in the car and get it towed home/garage. 👍

Depends who you use obviously. Some might charge more or less than I did. Some I know got it cut for free... I paid £5 if I remember correctly. Which is very fair.

Mate, I have an issue with the way my door locks nowadays... driver side unlock manually and sometimes the doors all unlock and sometimes not. Same happens when I lock manually. This is whether I'm locking from the door outside with the key or inside with the red knob. 206 2005... Any ideas, its a real annoyance.
Gary Lakey 9/10 times this happens its the door looms which get broken wires in them. The other 1/10 is a dodgy door lock motor. But my money would be on broken wire in loom between a door and chassis/body. 👍🐷

I’ve litterly just got back from timpson and got this cut. He didn’t charge me anything for it because if it breaks off in the ignition I can sue.
Oh and my bloody screw has rounded on the first twist with the button pushed in!

Update from 5 mins of progress...
Popped button back up. Went and put it in car door no unlockie but buttons unlocked it.
Put it in ignition turn 1 okay power to car
Turn 2 dash comes on looking good
Turn 3 no car startie
F**k this sh*t I’m out, not worth the risk or hassle

I've got the same problem, needing an IR key for my S16. I found a key on ebay which I eagerly bought but was disappointed to find didn't have the guts in it when it turned up at my door.
I since found a wreckers who say they can supply me a whole new one including the recevier bit for AUD100, which I think I will get at some point but it is expensive.
What I really want though is to just find an old key because I understand they can be reprogrammed pretty easily and I should be able to just swap out the insides to my new key.

The key with the rubber part on the circuit is gone is there any way to fix that?

Piggy Power the rubber part of the micro switch on the circuit board has come off which makes the whole thing useless because it doesn’t klick anymore
The key still works and I can still lock remotely the car but I have to use the key itself to open it
I believe there must be a way to install a new micro switch or at least get a new key and program it!

On eBay you can find micro switch repair kits 👍 you'll need a steady hand, a fine tipper soldering iron and a magnification glass of some sort.🐷💪

As mentioned above, it is noted. If I had a budget of more than £0.00 then I could maybe spend it on some nicer kit... I do believe the issue with this one was during upload however as the raw footage is fine on a full stereo system, clear and in stereo. Apologies though for the glitch.

I'm trying this on my Mitsubishi Lancer but the car cuts out after a second as if the chip isn't there but it is. Any tips anyone?
Pull the chip out and hold it closer to the ignition barrel... See if it starts then.

New battery is faulty... Most likely. Nothing else to alter distance usually. (Other than LED walls)

chris bates 30 it should fit snugly. Try holding the chip manually by the immobiliser ring...to rule that out.

Can get the boards...but it's the programming that is pricey usually. So get a quote for that first. Try a mobile automotive key guy 👌

How to turn your key into a Volkswagen key
Jake Sinteri or a vauxhall key, or Peugeot, or Citroen... Most manufacturers do keys like this now.... It's not just fashion or fun but does protect the key too.

A word of advise. This is in fact a DOWNGRADE. in practical terms. you pass from a reliable, no moving parts key to something full of moving parts waiting to break on the first opportunity!!
Considering the video was published a couple of years ago. I guess you already learned this detail the hard way! Remember no moving parts, mean less things to break. Take this from a guy that as on the stable, at present Peugeot 106, 107, 307, Citroen Picasso, Renault Trafic and Toyota Yaris!! ;-)
I'm not sure what you expected to happen to prove its reliable? A video showing it still working? I can do that if you wish. I still have the car and the key and they both work just fine. Same battery, buttons, etc. Very little wear to the case too. I agree, it does introduce something that could wear out or break... But that's a choice one makes with modifying. As I say, the one used in this demonstration continues to be used and the vehicle has done about 45k miles since this demo was released. 👍

Many 1000s have appreciated this video and done this. The stock keys are getting very worn out and people like to have a later style key. Just because you don't think it's worthwhile, doesn't mean others won't. 👍🐷
