I love my Weber kettles and have a Jumbo Joe which is the slightly larger 18" table top unit and I like it so much I've given them to family and friends as gifts. Add the Slow N' sear charcoal basket and I think that's probably the best and affordable portable/travel grill in the game. Now I want to do a brisket on it.

Great video, I have done a small pork shoulder on my weber go anywhere, came out lovely, took around 6 hours. The outside was a bit crispy but it pulled beautiful and added to the flavour and texture.

It's surprising how well cooks can come out on bbqs that often get written off as 'not suitable' for smoking.

I bought jumbo Joe 18" weber kettle. I've been liking it for arbnb hangs with friends where the only option is a gas grill. So far I've had it on two weekend trips. Cooked 10 lbs of chicken wings in batches, moose backstrap, rib eyes and tips. I can't believe I'm saying this but - I might have to try brisket next trip! Thanks for the share!

Had the same problem with my first smoker. I bought a generic water smoker to use at first, one vent on the bottom. Couldn’t get it to 225f with the pan in and the pan out ended up going to 450f + and the vents offered no control on airflow. I gave it away in the end and I use a proQ now and have done for a couple of years, 3 vents in the bottom and goes pretty well. Do want another smoker but at the min money is very tight.
    Great looking little brisket 👍

There are two versions of the Smokey Joe. The one you have is much more portable and fine for quick cooks, but the vents aren't ideal for getting air to charcoal. The other (I have this one) has a vent in the bottom, which works great, but you can't bundle it up and carry. It's been that way for decades and makes no sense. All Weber needs to do is add a vent in the bottom of yours. Or put a bar to hold down the lid for transport on mine, Jumbo Joe style.

Good job! Vents look poorly placed but I guess this new version is really a 14" smokey mountain but without the middle spacer part, they did sell that as a spare in the past so you could upgrade it, but I don't see it on the site anymore.
£50 for the brisket is decent will have to order one, I don't know why costco won't sell you a whole brisket only completely lean trimmed up rolled rubbish in the UK.

I did think about that, but i wanted to keep the charcoal as far away from the meat as possible. So was concerned each end of the snake might get a little too close! Though next time, i think i might. It may help with the airflow issue!
