Opinels are very light great slicers. I keep one in the kitchen and one in my lunch box for cutting tomatoes and sausage. The classic sd is so small yet sharp and handy, a manicure kit tool plus. I have given many as gifts and everyone keeps it on their key chain.
I recently got a ozark trail knife from Walmart it was only $4.99 and is a great beater knife. Cutlery lover and pm101 both have good reviews on this cheap pocket knife. After my experience with it I have to say it is a worth while buy. God bless and stay safe.
I have 3 of those knives, The Swiss Army, Sanrenmu and Opinel. I am extremely pleased with all of them. The new CRKT looks interesting. I wouldn't worry a lot about what "knife snobs" think. Most of us don't really care. BTW Sanrenmu has changed the model number from 710 to 7010 but it is the exact same knife. Keep up the good work!
I loved my cheapo Sanrenmu710 till I lost it at work, lol. Honestly, I'd rather buy a Chinese Company knife, or even tac-force before I even consider the bear grylls & gerber knives. Gerber's just let me down so many times, I won't even consider their knives nowadays. I do dig the Gerber Dime though.
I don't think many of your viewers care about the 710 being a copy of the sebenza, we just like high quality knives for cheap prices ;) Great video though, keep it up dude!
A number of years ago I bought a Kershaw OSO Sweet for under $20 just because I liked the way it looked, and carried it every day for quite a long time. It quickly became a favorite. Nice size, comfortable in the hand, and the SpeedSafe opening system is great. Since then I've bought several more and given them to friends and family. My new favorite is another Kershaw, the Blur, with a partially serrated tanto blade. It also has the SpeedSafe system, nicely textured grip, and is as solid as a rock. Cost was $30 something. Love it!
Gerber does have a special place in my heart because my first knife was a Gerber Paraframe 2. And that "Mystery Metal" is usually 420 high-carbon steel
I have the bear grylls knife and i have done many many different things with it. It can sharpen, cut, chop, dice, and stab. Its a good knife i recommend
Gordon makes a surprisingly good budget knife that costs about $4. It's heavy, has a thick blade, and is a great beater knife. Harbor Freight Tools sells them...not sure if they're available anywhere else. I bought two. 😛
Victorinox: Very cool, we went to factory about 8 years ago, and the are flat ground, in a circular or rotary machine. The blank is stamped, then placed into the horizontal rotary grinder to make the light grinds. Very cool machines.
A ferro rod will work with any sharp edge. It does not have to be carbon steel. The carbon steel is for sparking flint. Just letting you know. I have used the can opener on my victorinox many times.
Love my Sanrenmu 7010 I've been carrying for over three months every day. Great quality for a knife that is available for under $10. No one who knows anything about knives would ever mistake it for a Sebenza. It is not a carbon copy, and it doesn't pretend to be. It is, however, a very nice, easy to carry, deploy, and use inexpensive knife that looks and feels really good.
I like with gerber is that you can send the knife back and get it sharpend. I own a paraframe 1 and 2 and they are great knives, the are similar to the third knife on the list with the frame lock on them.
I had purchased the Buck Bantam a while back & I've had no problems with it at all, it's a great little edc beater knife! Anyways keep up the great videos!
I have a Gerber 'Moment' 2 knife field dressing kit in my collection. I bought them because I wanted to find out why people were dissing Gerber (other than the Bear Grylls affiliation) so much. To my surprise, my $30 AUD kit comes in a good sheath and the handle compound reminds me of my old Buck Alpha folder with the guthook. The Gerber kit has a skinner with a guthook and a small boning out knife. Other than not so great edge retention, these are great tools.
I would like to reccamend the Cold Steal tuff lite in NON serrated and thats a personal preferance for any knife. Serrated blade just drive me crazy for maintenance alone.
Great video! My Opinel no. 8 Inox came with a factory second bevel and a flat grind rather than a convexed single bevel you mentioned for the Carbone. It's my edc and I get along just fine with it. My fixed blade (rat tail actually) is the Mora Companion. anything heavier gets a well honed Gansfor Bruks.
I have the little Swiss Army knife. It's not a pocket knife, it's a pen knife - meaning a knife to sharpen your quill, which none of us use anymore. Of these 5, I would choose the Opinel. It's sharp, tough (mine has an olive wood handle), and has a locking function. Plus it weighs nothing in your pocket.
I bought a Gerber a few years ago. (Claiming it was stainless) It rusted within 3 days without being wet. Never buying another Gerber. Opine I've heard is a good brand for the money, thinking I'm going to buy one
+Matthew Amahula Matatula It was legit; purchased through an authorized retailer, in the factory package with the BG guide and warranty paper. Huge disappointment.
I'm "that person," with more then one knife. I almost always have my Gerber splice with me. Very pocketable, has built scissors, and two blades. I also may have a larger Multitool. On top of that, I may also have a dedicated knife.
This video was in my opinion great!.... its very informative and let me see some knives that are way more affordable then the higher in the food chain knives...keep doing what youre doing, this vid has helped me find good quality cheep knives... thank you
Great video, thanks ! To me, the best undder 10 even (well 10 euros) is the Opinel garden N8, it got a spear tip and a slimer grip than the regular and is a little cheaper, wich mean I'm not affraid to use it roughly, never really damaged it. (but I'm no expert)
I kind of disagree and agree with u on the gerber knife company I have a 06 manual and I love it my dad has a gator and a multi tool but the bear grills line sucks
I've also had an eye on an opinels. There's just something about them that catches my interests. I keep hearing nothing but positive feedback about it. Perhaps it's that classic look they have. The unique locking mechanism. Or just it's simplicity. I know the blade is super sharp. It just looks to be reliable, and is a different looking blade altogether. Stands out, yet doesn't look as menacing.
Budg: Merry Christmas, and may U always have a fresh taninbaum (tree) in your home. Stay safe!!! Oh ya, show us some movies of Germany's cool buildings....
I think the Gerber uses 7cr 17mov which I think is close to 440a. 8cr 13mov is close to Aus8. I believe most Gerber Bear Grylls use that steel. The ultimate pro uses 9cr 19mov which is close to 440c.
I use to carry the Kershaw filter till I loaned it out and they used it as a prybar and broke it. Now I carry the Smith n wesson 609. But I also carry a cheap junky knife just incase somebody else wants to barrow a knife. I tell them to keep it. I think it cost $4. 79 lmao. That way they'll thank me and I don't have to loan out my good knife. 😁😁
I've used both pretty extensively, personally I think Sandvik stainless is far superior to 440a. A lot easier to resharpen, and takes far more abuse before resharpening from my experience. I think it even matches up better than 8crMoV, which is supposed to be a premium stainless. Still prefer Sandvik over that. Just my opinion.
Being a knockoff doesn't make it a bad knife. For the price, it's one of the best knives out there, even if it does lie about the steel it's made from.
Im not a Gerber fan however lately Gerber may be making a come back like the fastball I like that knife a lot I have the several types of victorinox and I I’m diggin the CRKT squid.the Pilar and now the Large Pilar. Sanranmu whatever it’s a budget knife and you want the have a good edc knife no problem. I under stand buying a clone with logos and trying to pass it off as real that’s bad I’m against that but if you want to buy a copy without logos and your using for your own use your own hard earned money especially if you can’t afford the more higher real quality it’s our money I will spend my money on what I want. But I’m will look for a great quality budget knife first. But I do have several copies cuz I buy high end too of knives of all kinds never any logos there’s no need for that if you do your up to no good I buy them cuz there super cheap and I don’t have access to the high end knives to feel them before I spend hundreds of dollars so I buy the copy to get a sense I know it’s not going to compare but at least I can get some kind of idea of how Shirogorov feels like I know it’s not going to be like the real thing anyway it hasn’t let me down ever and I’ve got a good hand full of grail and safe queens but I like to use all my knives. I liked you video brother. Sorry about the redonkulis clone versus copy comment I said it cuz you had a nice sanranmu and it doesn’t look like a CR that much it’s a good budget knife. I just picked up a Ruike p801sf love carry every day for a month now. $20 peace ✌️ man
I have that same opinel! I converted mine into a small fixed blade for the kiotchen with just some 2 part epoxy and wood filler in the handle. I also have the Victorinox and I have the CRKT coming in the mail :3. Keep up the good videos!

yes same lol

+16.5toHeaven The Gerber does not belong in this list i think. There are a ton of better choices.
+KnifeCollector031 The Netherlands (Messenhobby) Any sub $15 Ganzo is a better knife
Just bought another 710, lol. getting it today
yea it looks like he just went through his drawer of cheap knives so he could make a video.
16.5toHeaven Where do you think Gerber is made?
I don't think many of your viewers care about the 710 being a copy of the sebenza, we just like high quality knives for cheap prices ;)
Great video though, keep it up dude!
Very nicely done. 20 yrs ago I bought a Gerber multi-tool device. It was my first purchase in the knife world. I've always liked Gerber. Thank you.
A number of years ago I bought a Kershaw OSO Sweet for under $20 just because I liked the way it looked, and carried it every day for quite a long time. It quickly became a favorite. any 90 degree or less really, a flat ground spine is great.
Kershaw Shuffle 1. Useful little thing.
Hey, can you do a video in how you sharpen your knifes that would be amazing! Thanks
Can you do a "Urban Disaster Kit " , that would be great for us that live in urban areas.
Give it a thought, thanks!
Squid is great, small but perfect small carry knife.
I like the look of the squid
I like with gerber is that you can send the knife back and get it sharpend. I own a paraframe 1 and 2 and they are great knives, the are similar to the third knife on the list with the frame lock on them.
I like the Opinel purely because it looks so damn cool. Has that classy 19th century razor blade feel
I had purchased the Buck Bantam a while back & I've had no problems with it at all, it's a great little edc beater knife! Anyways keep up the great videos!
The fire starter thing works also with the stainless opinel
best focus in a video i've ever seen. 8/8 best video 2016
I have a Gerber 'Moment' 2 knife field dressing kit in my collection. I bought them because I wanted to find out why people were dissing Gerber (other than the Bear Grylls affiliation) so much. I would like to reccamend the Cold Steal tuff lite in NON serrated and thats a personal preferance for any knife. Serrated blade just drive me crazy for maintenance alone.
In my opinion it is the kershaw 1986wm I bought it for 15 with a decent flashlight and it is a great knife
Great video! My Opinel no. 8 Inox came with a factory second bevel and a flat grind rather than a convexed single bevel you mentioned for the Carbone. It's my edc and I get along just fine with it. My fixed blade (rat tail actually) is the Mora Companion. anything heavier gets a well honed Gansfor Bruks.
the steel on the opinel is xc90 and in my opinion better than 8cr13mov
I have lost my Buck Bantam. I have the orange one. I love that knife and it makes me sad everyday. I'm carrying a kershaw attention now.
Plus it weighs nothing in your pocket.
great video, but i have to disagree with you on your views on the buck bantam because mine has never failed me.
I've owned an openel they are great knives for the price especially the carbon steel blade version DEFINATELY RECCOMEND
I bought a Gerber a few years ago. (Claiming it was stainless) It rusted within 3 days without being wet. Never buying another Gerber. Opine I've heard is a good brand for the money, thinking I'm going to buy one
does the gerber knife have metal liners or is the handle all plastic?
You can do the same thing with opinel carbone as you can with the stainless and apparently victorinox uses 440c stainless steel on their knives
Big disagree on the Gerber. I've got that one, and the steel is so soft it rolls over, and even bends.
You might have a chinese knockoff...lots of knockoffs out there!
+Matthew Amahula Matatula true I bought one from Amazon and it was a cheap knock off there were like five chips on the blade out of the packaging
+Matthew Amahula Matatula It was legit; purchased through an authorized retailer, in the factory package with the BG guide and warranty paper. Huge disappointment.
Heebath Daylack
On the 06 gerber?
Mj Amahula they are made in China
I'm "that person," with more then one knife. I almost always have my Gerber splice with me. Very pocketable, has built scissors, and two blades. I also may have a larger Multitool. On top of that, I may also have a dedicated knife.
The Sanrenmu is ok in my book because it is a copy of a Sebenza. It doesn't claim it is a Sebenza. It doesn't have the Chris Reeves logo on it.
You can get sparks with a ferro rod with any steal as long as it is harder than the rod
High carbon steel reacts better and a 90 degree spine is much better than using the blade.
This video was in my opinion great!.... its very informative and let me see some knives that are way more affordable then the higher in the food chain knives...keep doing what youre doing, this vid has helped me find good quality cheep knives... thank you
Thanks man! Glad you found it helpful!
Secondary Bezel? I think you mean Bevel ;)
The crkt squid is literally the best knife I've ever owned
those are my two most favorite knives (CRKT squid and rat model 2)
Great video, thanks !
To me, the best undder 10 even (well 10 euros) is the Opinel garden N8, it got a spear tip and a slimer grip than the regular and is a little cheaper, wich mean I'm not affraid to use it roughly, never really damaged it. (but I'm no expert)
I would like to recommend the kershaw shuffle 1 it’s on blade hq for 14.99
I kind of disagree and agree with u on the gerber knife company I have a 06 manual and I love it my dad has a gator and a multi tool but the bear grills line sucks
Can you use the CRKT squid left handed?
thank you for your service
I hit the thumbs up button
Stainless steel throws/showers sparks off of a ferro rod also.
If you had to pick one of those knives which one would it be ??? I would pick the Crkt
Sanrenmu is an awesome little knife!
The sparks made me feel like I had an epilepsy without the seizure xD
an epilepsy😂 its an epileptic fit
I heard Gerber Grylls Bear Folding Sheath knive balde is made from Carbone steel, but I donno it's true or not
Love my CRKT
is the swiss army knife sharp ?
Budg: Merry Christmas, and may U always have a fresh taninbaum (tree) in your home. Stay safe!!! Oh ya, show us some movies of Germany's cool buildings....
Thanck u for ur service sir👏🏽

dunno if you'll reply but which should I get - rat 2 or the crkt knife in the video
Rat 2...Also, you should question whether or not this guy really knows anything about knives.
damn i just bought a new small schrade sch405M mini which i had seen this video i would have gotten the squid that thing looks awesome
+Jdmsword14 It's inexpensive enough to get also...start a collection
I got a kershaw shuffle for $5 because the store I bought it from overstocked on it
The steel is actually a Sandvik stainless most comparable to 440A.
Just my opinion.
what camera do you use in this video?
Ganzo should be on this list..
Alex Reyes No it should not, it's a POS knockoff company
Luke Sorenson true, but they do in fact make good affordable knives.
they are still good.
Being a knockoff doesn't make it a bad knife. For the price, it's one of the best knives out there, even if it does lie about the steel it's made from.
Ganzo is shit.
Gerber Ultralight LST. At 0.6 oz it disappears in the pocket, and costs less than $13.
Stainless steel can strike ferro rod too... It's just that carbon steel will make sparks with flint I believe
"make sure to be careful with knifes....." Yeah Yeah of course (*photo pops up) wow alright I respect your warnings more now holy crap.
the disclaimer... 😂👍👌
I take it you like Star Wars by the intro lol
How much you want for gerber knife
Gerber has some cheap stuff, an some killer stuff, an the Warranty they back up!
why you dindint used the cold steel kudu in your video
8cr13mov is not better compared to the steels on the Victorinox or the Opinel in my opinion
Thank you for your service!
no tac force?

Victorinox is best!
sanrenmu great budget knife but when I got mine it was folded then when I opened it, it can't be closed
That Swiss Army classic has closed on my fingers hundreds of times and has never cut me
steel on victorinox is 440a
I like my kershaw freefall
very helpful video, thank you
I have that same opinel! I converted mine into a small fixed blade for the kiotchen with just some 2 part epoxy and wood filler in the handle. I also have the Victorinox and I have the CRKT coming in the mail :3. Keep up the good videos!
Ozark trail tan flipper?
it's what as known as a chisel grind. ☺
Great video
I want the carbone knife
good knives
Good video. But the Rat 2 is not a budget knife where I live. It costs 1/3 my monthly salary
pinoywheelgunner you need to get a new job if u make 90$ a month( or whatever the conversion is for your currency if you do not live in the US of A
i also think that an enlan should of been on this list
cool vids bro
I'm usually broke, but I know good/decent quality bargain folder's when I see them. I get what I can afford. I had an interests in a Gerber product folder. That one you have is probably what I will but later on. I can't stand spyderco knives. Their unbelievably expensive, and very thin blades. Most have the same plastic handle. And that stupid trademark circle hole. It's so overrated. I just don't like them. But my ignorance dies show since I've never handled them for that matter. Still, the best knife is something you can afford. That will be of good quality and usage. Spyderco's are just too overrated for my own taste even if I could afford them. I'd much rather go with some sort of cold steel, or kabar. I love inexpensive folders that come with surprisingly good quality. It's such a good feeling knowing you didn't need to spend much to get the most out of you're blade. Well... almost most. A little resharpening if it becomes dull, or replacement of equal pricing if need be. Most collectors never use their pricey folders anyway. They always have a beater. So screw it, mine as well have a bunch of beaters.
You should try the Gerber paraframe knife its high quality for the price
Send the Buck back for adjustment, they are a great company!
it's plastic, plastic bends nothing new
I liked this but I really want to know why are the $$$ knives better than the inexpensive knives
mtech ballistic flame should be in there
Was ein Sprachlegasteniker...
tnx
