Why do you need to run it in, have you renovated the engine?

Because its brand new and if you fail to run any ic engine in you get premature wear of engine components and it wont last as long.
The engine has good steady revs now.

@@jsa2001 that is good old engines with white metal bearings, but I assumed that your diesels must be relics?

@@pcka12 Not a "relic" although it's possible this example is NOS (New Old Stock). Progress Aero Works (PAW) is still making these in Macclesfield England.
