The Westin Rooftop…self parking only & the lobster sliders look amazing. I’m currently shopping for a home in Sarasota moving from Chicago hopefully by end of this month ! Thanks for showing off my newest chapter in life 🥳😎🎉😉🌴
Lived in Venice FL until Sept 2022 forced back to Wisconsin- it is 66 degrees in September 2023.. and I found this Video to get me excited 🎉❤ because I am moving back to Sarasota FL ! Can’t wait - lots of work to get done prior so thank you for getting me super excited to get back to Venice - Sarasota - you both are super cute and great at doing these Travel videos - I just posted on FBK to prove to all my family & friends here how wonderful this area is .. ❤
We love Venice and were just down in that area this weekend. 66 degrees actually sounds quite amazing after the HOT summer we've had here, but come winter time, we'll definitely beyond grateful for the weather here in Florida. We're so happy to hear you're going to be moving back to Sarasota! And thanks so much for sharing the video on your Facebook!
Thank you so much for your generosity! We're so glad that you discovered our channel, and we hope our travel guide helped you to make the most of your time in Sarasota!
Oh wow that's awesome! We're so happy that you discovered our channel and are enjoying it! Thanks so much for the support and for taking the time to comment!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! We hope you are able to get moved down to Sarasota soon, and that our video helps you make the most of your time here when you do!
If you love burgers and beers you will definitely love Shakespeare's. And the Westin rooftop is definitely worth the visit. It's a bit pricey, but really not that bad when you consider the amazing atmosphere!
Our pleasure, Suzana. We honestly never used to be into gardens. We lived in Sarasota for 7 years and never visited them once. I'm not sure when/why it happened, but they are now one of our favorite places to visit too. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
We're glad you enjoyed the video and hope that you are able to make a visit to Sarasota sometime soon! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Teresa!
Thx for your Great video! I’m a fairly recent resident here. 😊 My son and I went to Myakka River State Park for the second time last weekend on Mothers Day. We love it there. It feels like another world there. It’s like stepping into a National Geographic magazine! I am a photographer, and my son is a videographer. We both love nature. There’s usually a ton of alligators by that bridge. The first time we went there, I couldn’t believe it. There were the alligators, great blue herons, the wild boar family, and deer. The wild boars had, at least, six piglets when we saw them. It’s pretty amazing that you saw the piglet nursing! Also, I’m glad you went to the Osprey location for Marie Selby. We haven’t made it there yet and were wondering what it was like. Another thing, you clarified the difference with the new Bayfront area near Van Wezel and the Bayfront area by Marina jacks. I knew there was a big project to expand the bay front and that the first phase was done, but I wasn’t sure where it was. Thanks much for doing this video.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. We agree, Myakka really does feel like another world. We're so fortunate to be able to have a short drive to some of the world's best beaches, but also to be so closed to amazing parks like Myakka! We always love seeing the gators, but seeing the hogs this time really made the visit extra memorable! We hope you get a chance to visit the Osprey Gardens as well as the Bay Park soon. I'm sure you'll find plenty of great photo opportunities.
Oh my gosh, I sure do miss Sarasota! 😭😭😭 Hoping to visit the area next month. I love all your restaurant reviews and find the maps super helpful (I always hit pause on the maps and any menus you show 😆) You showcased so many great places that I'd love to see during our next visit. Thank you so much for another great and informative video! ❤
Thank you for the feedback on the maps and menus, Ramune. The maps particularly can be a bit time consuming to add to the video, but we think it's worth it. We're glad the video gave you some ideas for your next visit to Sarasota, and we hope you guys have an amazing time!
Wow! My favorite was seeing all the colorful gardens and sea views in this video! Those burgers looked mouthwatering as well. Last time we were in Sarasota we only went to the beach. There clearly is a lot more to see.
Great timing on the 2023 Sarasota update video, we'll be there soon for a couple day "work-cation". Found your channel a couple years ago before our St Pete (that is now an annual trip - 3rd time will be in July). Thanks, cheers
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, Dave! We're so glad you discovered our channel and are still watching a couple years later. Cheers!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, Ryan! We're glad the video has inspired you to visit Sarasota, and we hope you have an amazing time when you do!
I’m visiting Sarasota for the first time next week. I’m going to visit the circus museum and Ca’d’Zan primarily. The circus museum has a huge scale model of a full 3 ring circus from the 1930’s, and I will be taking a tour of the Ca’d’Zan that will go up to the tower (weather permitting). I hope it’s a nice day. I’m also looking forward to kayaking in the mangroves and exploring downtown.
It sounds like you have a great week planned. You picked about the best time of year to visit in terms of weather, it's normally beautiful this time of year! We hope you have an awesome time in Sarasota!
We love Sarasota. Our dream to live there. Thanks for a fun video. We visited some of those places but some we had on the list and need to go back! Now we can’t wait! ☺️
@@stevewalther2293 I lived there for 4 years. I was single and still am. I was busy with my business, had some friends, so I did not mind being single.....I enjoyed it! I would like to move back......who knows!
Perfect timing as I’m heading to Longboat on Thursday. My first visit to Ringling was 1976. I’ve done all the tours over the years including the one that lets you experience those spiral stairs you pointed out. I have not seen most of the rest of the places in this video. I really need to check out a month long rental.
We hope you have an awesome time on Longboat, Bob! Glad you are getting an early start on the weekend tomorrow. Thanks for letting us know that you can indeed access that staircase. We are definitely going to pay to do the full tour one of these days. And we agree, a month long rental would be perfect!
Wow, sounds like you've probably had some pretty awesome experiences. We're hoping that this channel can eventually allow us to travel the world someday. It's definitely our dream!
Thank you for your videos! I've watched a ton of them, my husband and I are going to Sarasota this July for our 15 year anniversary, it'll be our 1st time. I love humidity and heat so I think July will be the best time to go! I am a NeuroMuscular and CranioSacral Pain Specialist and hoping to eventually move my practice out there. Thanks again for all your amazing info!!!
Jamie loves the heat/humidity as well (at least as long as she can stay out of the sun). But yeah, you should love it here in July! Who hope you (and your practice) are able to eventually make your way down here too. Have a great time in July and happy early anniversary!
Thanks for your reply! I have a question, would you recommend renting a car for our 7 day stay in Sarasota? And how's your sciatica? I treat people with sciatica all the time. I hope you're feeling better
@@ET-jc9kh we would probably recommend renting a car, Sarasota is pretty spread out. There is a bus system, but we didn't have the best experience using it. As far as the sciatica it is getting better each week. The recovery is just very slow. But progress is progress!
Thank you for this video. We are visiting Bradenton for the month and are looking for places close by to visit. We took a trek to the Ringling Esate and the Bay Park. We really liked both of them. We also went to the coffee shop - which was nice. Even better though was the ice cream shop right next door. Also if you are ever in Bradenton you should go to Cremish Bakery and if you are in Naples give Bad Ass coffee a go.
Our pleasure, Wendy. Thank you for the tips for Bradenton and Naples. We used to have a Bad Ass coffee in the St. Pete area and we loved it, but sadly it closed. It's good to know that we can still experience it down in Naples!
I have been visiting my family who live on Casey Key for 30 years, I live in the UK and was married at Marie Selby gardens 20 years this was before the gardens did formal wedding just the 2 of us, how we wanted it. I still enjoying visiting Sarasota but not as much now as getting very expensive, crowded and lots of traffic. Guess everything changes. I enjoyed your upload thanks
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your story. How great it must have been to get married in the gardens! We've seen Sarasota change a lot just in the last 10 years we've lived in Florida, and we're sure the difference from 20 years ago is far greater. We definitely pick and choose when and where we drive in Sarasota, because the traffic really is becoming a problem. But like you said, everything changes, some for the better, some for the worse.
I have been wanting to go to the Ringling museum for so long! Who knew it was so affordable?! Love how your video gives me a great plan to go off of!!!
Yeah, we were really amazed with what you get for the money. After seeing the mansion though, we'll definitely be forking out the cash for the full tour one of these days!
We love Sarasota! As you know we got married on Longboat Key and spent a few days in the area before the wedding. We have gone back for our anniversary a few times too. Sarasota is so much fun! That bakery looked delicious! Have a great upcoming week you two! Keep in touch!
We hope you two are able to continue to go back often. It really is a great city. And next time you do get back there, the OfKors bakery should definitely be on your list!
Great video, we only had 3 days in Sarasota, which included 1) Myakka River State Park (cannot believe we didn't see you! Gutted!!, 😂 we also did the bridge twice, the nature trail, the bird walk, and the outpost!!) 2) St Armands Circle and 3) Siesta Key Beach..then we ran out of time. Looks like lots more to explore. Ps Skylars penguin tshirt is amazing!!
Skylar's had that penguin shirt for years... he loves it too. He only busts it out every few months because he's trying to make it last 😂 Sounds like you kept plenty busy in the Sarasota area. Hopefully you can plan a return trip soon!
I lived there almost 20 years ago for about 4 years. I loved it, and remember visiting many of the spots you toured.....thank you for the memories! I look forward to your other video's! All the best....
I didn’t make it to Sarasota proper on my last trip but did get to Siesta Key. Another trip to Sarasota and the other beaches in the area I want to do on my next visit. I want to move but now not sure where. 😂
We're glad you made it out to Siesta, Deb. As much as we love Sarasota, we would gladly spend a vacation on Siesta without leaving the island. That said, there's a lot of great things to explore in Sarasota and we hope you get a chance to do it soon!
Hi! I love your videos!! My wife and I will be in Davenport Florida in a few weeks and want to visit a Gulf side beach. Any recommendations for a beautiful beach, not too expensive eats and so on? Thank you!!
We love Upham Beach on St. Pete Beach and the secret garden there right off the beach. It has some really reasonably priced restaurants nearby too. We also love Indian Rocks Beach for beautiful beaches and good priced restaurants. The Sarasota area is a little bit harder to find inexpensive spots to eat, but it sure does have some beautiful beaches!
I purchased it at either a Marshalls or a Ross I believe, but the brand is C.C and you can now get the hat on Amazon. I'll include a link for ya. Please be aware though that I did add the string myself, as we spend a lot of time out in the wind! Thanks for watching! amzn.to/3UnpmtC
Yeah, that place really is covered in gators. We did the airboat tour on a couple different occasions, and saw at least 20 gators both times! And thanks for the pronunciation!
I've lived in Dallas, TX...Bowling Green, KY...Des Moines, IA...Philippines...Omaha, NE...and now Sarasota, Florida...Sarasota, Florida is for wealthy retired married couples...it's for couples...I miss mountains, waterfalls, Cliffs, Valleys, rivers, hills, cool crisp air...lol...ya it's beautiful in SWF but it's just flat sand...and can be an extremely empty and hollow place for single people under 65. Very difficult to meet people...I've lived in Sarasota for 15 years and would love to move up North...
Yeah we can see how Sarasota wouldn't be the best spot for singles looking to mingle. We miss all those things too, but if we lived in the mountains, we'd miss the beach. We figure wherever we live, we'll miss things about somewhere else. And that's why we love to travel.
Hi Jamie and Skylar just wondering if you guys can do a video where you guys visit a place or a farm for tropical fruits picking? Like Fruit & Spice Park FL
We would love to do that, Wayne. We probably wouldn't do an entire video on it, but would definitely love to visit a farm as part of a bigger video. Where is the Like Fruit and Spice Farm located?
That's tough but probably the north one, especially on a hot day. The south one has a lot of walking, so on a nice, comfortable day, we might go with the south one. But if you want to see the most in the shortest amount of time, the north one is the way to go.
The first one that come's to mind is JJ Gandy's in Palm Harbor. That was a great piece of pie. But Der Dutchman in Sarasota also does a great one (not sure if we actually ate one in any of our videos though. I think we also had one at Whitney's on Longboat Key that was really good!
Rewatching this video and I hope that the folks at Myakka Park can control the wild hogs there..they can take over and destroy the area very quickly if not. Looks like a beautiful place!
And now the truth. The Northeastern people have moved in, and it’s starting to resemble more like the East Coast. It is no longer a casual, laid-back vibe. It is now, rude, aggressive, and way too crowded. This was definitely not shot during tourist and snowbirds season. We have had shootings in siesta key and fist fight in the parking lot for the beach. You won’t hear about them talk about it because the county does not want the tourist to quit coming. The traffic is more on a New Jersey/New York level from an aggression point of you, but I guess that makes sense, considering they are the ones moving in. If you’re expecting that old, Midwestern niceness and courtesy that left three years ago.
The video was shot in early May. So correct... not tourist or snowbird season. While it was shot during a "less busy" time of year, that doesn't make it in any way "false". We moved from Sarasota to St. Pete around three years ago. Part of the reason was due to the bad traffic in Sarasota. It's definitely gotten worse since then too, so we can 100% relate with you on that complaint. We actually discuss the bad traffic in Sarasota in our Sarasota vs St. Pete video. As far as the rude/aggressiveness comment, we never found that to be the case in the 7 years we lived in Sarasota, and we haven't experienced it during the times we've returned to visit either. That said, we do tend to avoid Sarasota during the height of tourist/snowbird season, especially on the weekends. Thanks for watching.
@@Explorcation ask the servers the next time you are here. The neighborhoods, especially the gated ones, have seen an increase in rudeness. Our neighborhood is definitely considered one of the nicer ones and the office fields a road rage incident at least once a week within our own walls. I think you got out just in time.
@@dmac42 really sorry to hear that. We still have some friends down in Sarasota, so we'll have to ask them about their experiences with the traffic and the rudeness lately. It's really sad to hear about this, as we really loved living in Sarasota for the 7 years we were there. But yeah, maybe we did get out at the right time!
Ahh man you are probably asking the wrong people, as we are neither single or in our 50's. But I will say that Blase Cafe out on Siesta Key is always full of people in that age range and is an absolute blast... especially if you like live music and dancing!
Ewww, I have been living in Sarasota for almost 22 years. is boring if you don't play golf or if you're not a beach bum. Also weather sucks, humid, rainy, cloudy summers, lots of allergies and very expensive to live here. I am older but in this resort town, even if very nice, there are mostly old folks. In season you cannot even go out to eat because of all snow birds who come here and take over the town. Yuck!!!!!!
We definitely understand how some would find Sarasota to be boring. It did move a little slow for us, which is why we ended up moving to St. Pete. That said, we could see ourselves moving back someday when we are older. But if you don't mind me asking, why do you continue to live in a place which you find so repulsive?
@@Explorcation I still live here because of my husband's job. We have to be here for 2 more years then we move out. Not soon enough for me lol Being born and raised in an european capital, this little resort town just does not do anything for me:(
@@barthagaby1 ahh yeah that's understandable. I'm glad to hear you only have a couple of years left until you can move somewhere that fits you much better!
Ok, didnt think i was gonna love the video but dammit ya got me, my family and i travel to sarasota/Anna Maria from Ireland each year, ive been to these places ( except some of the food places, but i will 😊) So many memories and cant wait to get back to make more. Love the video by the way.
LOL we're happy to hear you liked the video, even if you didn't want to! We try to hit a mix of the more touristy places and some of our favorite lesser known places. We could easily make 5 more videos on Sarasota, there's so much do do there.
It was just a vacation video of the two of us and there was nothing in it that we weren't comfortable with the public seeing, but we do appreciate the concern!

@@Explorcation sounds good
Renting for feb and march 2025. Lots of great tips thank you. Never stayed there, we are usually in naples or pompano.
Myakka, the "yakk" is like kayak. Myakka ...kayak-ah.. rhymes.
Thank you!
I did have visit Sarasota! I only been there thrice (3 times). I wish to go there again. I mean I live like around 90 minutes away from Sarasota.
Three times isn't bad, but we do hope you are able to visit again in the future. It's a great city! Thanks for watching!
BIg Cat Safari is really cool and worth the price of admission , while you're there you can visit Mt Celery to see if you are up to the challenge.
We did the Big Cat Safari a few years back (before we even started our channel), and it really was a good time!
I lived there almost 20 years ago for about 4 years. I loved it, and remember visiting many of the spots you toured.....thank you for the memories!
I look forward to your other video's! All the best....
We're so happy you found our channel and we really appreciate the kind comment! We're glad to hear that it helped bring back some good memories!
Esse conteudo do vídeo é uns dos melhores do mundo, por serem bem completos, dinâmicos e de fácio endendimento✈️🌐⛵️ (parabéns pessoal)❤
Wow thank you so much for this incredibly kind comment! We're really glad that you enjoy our content!
@@Explorcation thank you!! 🙏
Where did you get your hat from? It looks so cute on you.
My favorite spot is a beach
You and us both, Gladys!!
Mine too...
I did the Canopy Walk and the airboat tour back in 2010. There’s gators all over the place there. And it’s My -- akka
Yeah, that place really is covered in gators. We did the airboat tour on a couple different occasions, and saw at least 20 gators both times! And thanks for the pronunciation!
@@Explorcation Sarasota was voted #5 as the best city to live in the nation. Google US News & World Reports Top 150 cities to live in.
@@Victory1981 thanks for sharing, I am not surprised at all, it really has so much to offer for a city of its size.
@@Explorcation too much of one thing...everyone needs a little variety...
Absolutely
@@Explorcation Beach beach beach...lol...you have to drive 4 hours or fly out to get away from the Beach and Tiki Bars...
@@stevewalther2293 lol many people don't see this as a problem, Steve. But yeah, it would be nice if the mountains were a little bit closer!
Which botanical garden would you recommend if you were to only have time for ome?
That's tough but probably the north one, especially on a hot day. The south one has a lot of walking, so on a nice, comfortable day, we might go with the south one. But if you want to see the most in the shortest amount of time, the north one is the way to go.
I watched one of your videos where you had a great key lime pie? Where was that place ?
The first one that come's to mind is JJ Gandy's in Palm Harbor. That was a great piece of pie. But Der Dutchman in Sarasota also does a great one (not sure if we actually ate one in any of our videos though. I think we also had one at Whitney's on Longboat Key that was really good!
@@Explorcation Oh thanks so much. I think it was Whitney’s ! We will be there in Oct. or 40th anniversary. Thanks for the info!
@@susettecochran1537 that piece of pie was so big...and delicious 😁 have a great time!
Would like to see something other than nature trails and gardens, every other video. What else is there to do?
We went to at least 7 places that were not nature trails/gardens... what specifically are you looking for?
Rewatching this video and I hope that the folks at Myakka Park can control the wild hogs there..they can take over and destroy the area very quickly if not.
Looks like a beautiful place!
We hope the hog situation is kept under control too, Gene. It really is a beautiful park.
hmm i heard of sirata beach resort nearby
Sirata is in St. Pete Beach, about an hour or so to the resort. It's a really nice resort!
I Prefer Hallandale beach Florida more it’s just a beautiful city and is growing in businesses and communities.
It's so feminine here...lol...flowers and sea shells and butterflies...lol...my grandmother loved it here and my grandfather hated it.
Oh don't worry Steve, we'll be going to the gun range and drag races in next week's episode 😀
@@Explorcationso many options...😊...they have drag races at Key West...
Key West is definitely on our bucket list@@stevewalther2293 we want to wait and go when we can spend a good amount of time exploring the Keys!
Guys dress in drag and race each other...lol...😅...seriously...
I'd visit if it wasn't a sanction city
Where’s a single male in his 50s 🇨🇦 go to meet ladies ! In Sarasota
Ahh man you are probably asking the wrong people, as we are neither single or in our 50's. But I will say that Blase Cafe out on Siesta Key is always full of people in that age range and is an absolute blast... especially if you like live music and dancing!
@@Explorcation thank you my friend 🇨🇦

So many memories and cant wait to get back to make more.
Love the video by the way.
LOL we're happy to hear you liked the video, even if you didn't want to! We try to hit a mix of the more touristy places and some of our favorite lesser known places. We could easily make 5 more videos on Sarasota, there's so much do do there.
It wasn't a good idea to make your solely family video public.
It was just a vacation video of the two of us and there was nothing in it that we weren't comfortable with the public seeing, but we do appreciate the concern!
the very best thing you can do in Sarasota is LEAVE
