    I've had a B-Control BCR2000 since 2010 (and without the Zaquencer sequencer firmware hack). And it's shocking that Behringer has had this discontinued for so long without a replacement.
    It's essential in this day and age of DAW and for synths that have too many menus to dive through. I control all sorts of parameters on sound modules with mine. It's also surprisingly useful for Volca, because they document their MIDI implementation and you can map each row of knobs to different parameters and end up controlling multiple Volca's at once with it. AND the BCR2000 has some simple transport controls which I use to start my Volcas.

      I'm excited to try their new revision. The Launchpad/Ableton workflow isn't a good fit for me when jamming with my external gear.

      I have a bcr2000 and a zaq sequencer bcr2000 and the zaq sequencer is amazing but it is a sequencer with only 4 midi channels it has a eprom you have to swap so it doesn't do what the BCR200 can do that's why i have both. I doubt the new version with the zaq sequencer on it can flip from one to another and even it that it would a headache so you really need 2 one for sequences and one for parameters.
      Behringer have not even released schematics for the BCR2000 and the internal power supply can brick the BCR with bad capacitors I have had to replace capacitors i have had the transformer fail in one BCR i had and it's impossible to replace a custom made transformer on a pcb.

    bcr2000 was probably behringer's first really cool product.. glad to see it making a comeback.

      I have one, and sadly almost a third of the controllers have stopped working properly. Well, it's an old beastie, so I guess that is to be expected.

      @@unduloid I have one that I admittedly haven't used extensively and even it has at least one encoder with problems. I once considered rewiring the whole thing with higher quality encoders but it looked like it would cost more than the unit itself and would've required some rather intrusive methods, so I never tried.

      Erica Synths already has one out with some very nice added features. Have you tried the Arturia vst version? I would try that first and make sure a VCS3 is for you. It is one of the harder synths for master, especially the routing matrix.

    Has their build quality improved ? Ive only bought 3 of their synths. 2 died within 18 months and the one left - the Odyssey - has a pitch shift stick that feels like it’s about to fall off at any moment.
    This has put me off buying any more.

      @@takethefearoutthegear6229 Thanks. My Poly D stopped triggering on certain keys after 9 months or so. You make great content guys, but for me as a 67 year old synthfreak vst rebuilds okay, but bohringer not for me he steals from the original creators!!!!

  • @BigHairyCrank
    @BigHairyCrank 22 дні тому +1

    I don't really get peoples obsession with buying recreations of vintage gear. Modern gear designs and VSTs offer so much more than a limited recreation of an old synth. Do you really want a piece of hardware sitting in your studio like the VCS3 just so you can recreate Run Like Hell or Welcome To The Machine? Or a Solina so you can play "Shine On"? And then have to haul it to a gig? There are at least five free vsts that will give you that lo-fi buzzy string sound without added clutter. Any modern synth from Nord, Yamaha, Roland or Korg have all of these sounds built in. I don't mean to sound cynical but the practicality of "one trick ponies" just doesn't add up. Is it just me?

    • @DorisDay-lw4xs
      @DorisDay-lw4xs 22 дні тому

      I get you. Clever marketing and a strong FOMO vibe drive sales of this stuff. That plus these synths have built up a reputation over the decades.
      I bought the Behringer Odyssey as a one off. I had owned an original mark 3 Odyssey for 25 years before it permanently died 💀 and the Behringer version was a cheap replacement. Also, it sounds scarily like the proper thing 😮. Like REALLY close.
      However, give me something like the Korg Wavestate. That thing is so unique. I was into wave sequencing and vector synthesis back in the 90s so its not too mind blowing for me. But my Lord I have programmed some amazing sounds with it. Things that no analogue subtractive synth could pull off. Thats the instruments that fascinate me.

    • @BigHairyCrank
      @BigHairyCrank 20 днів тому

      @@DorisDay-lw4xs The Odyssey is a classic for sure. When you bought it, did you consider a software/vst version? Or, is the tactile experience important to you? You can have a wavestate experience in Pigments with an interface that provides a lot more feedback. I have a MiniMoog reissue, a couple different MiniMoog vsts and borrowed a buddies Poly D. There was almost no difference. No one who compared the synths could consistently distinguish them apart. Then I asked them which one would you want and they all said the real MiniMoog even though they all sounded the same.

      If you would get it, you would be one of the people buying vintage remade synthesizers. So keep up not getting it and let people drooling over vintage gear drool.

      @@glabrouswashere8078 I'll bet you $100 you can't tell the difference in a blind listening test between an original VCS3, a clone and a VST. I do this test all the time in my studio with a 1974 MiniMoog, a 2023 reissue MiniMoog, PolyD and equivalent VSTs. No one has consistently picked the right instrument - not even myself. Trust me, you'll fail too. Do you own a VCS3? I have access to a Syntrx II and VSTs.
