The best part about this episode is the fact that episode turned Scientology from a religion that everyone was too scared to talk about into a cult that everyone clowns now on
The end shot of Stan saying "Sue me" was Matt and Trey speaking directly to the church. Funny story, the church hired people to follow Matt and Trey to dig up any dirt on them, and they found nothing
Tom Cruise apparently refused to do press for War Of The Worlds or Mi3 or something unless one of the big studios he was involved with stopped airing this episode. Also he threatened to sue South Park but they always do that. Wacky folks.
Honestly the story behind this episode is just as if not more interesting than the episode itself. I think there's a pretty good UA-cam video that summarizes it all called that time south park took down a cult or something similar to that
There's also a fantastic breakdown by "Growing Up In Scientology" reacting to this specific episode, and I can't really get out of my head how he talks about so much of what's said (how most of it is extremely accurate), except for the bit with the e-meter, how those things you hold aren't called "handles".
If you want to get rich you don't write Sci-Fi, you start a religion." L Ron Hubbard. His novel "Dianetics" failed and was restructured as a church for tax purposes, and thus Scientilogy was created.

Fun fact: This is how most Scientologists learned about Xenu in the first place, and a lot of them didn't realize it _wasn't_ made up by South Park because of how dumb it sounded.
Most people know Issac controversy but more interesting lore was that this was not the first episode pulled from syndication. It was Bloody Mary episode making fun of alcoholism which just happen to poke fun at pope in same episode. Of course was only a year at most with all the backlash of pulling that both episodes were return to syndication. I believe only the Muhammad episodes remain off the air til this day.

So yes Tom Cruise did watch this episode and was such a piss baby about he halted all production the mission impossible movie that was being made at the time until the episode was banned, since south park’s parent network dose the MP Movie they got county essential to stop retuning it for a time. Also I believe Scientology did sue witch tray and Matt where ready for witch yu can tell wen Stan say “I’m not s scared sue me!” If I remember right they won due to the court finding that they depicted the church as factual and used their first amendment, freedom of speech although on a more hearable scale It is rumored that the church (allegedly) forced Isaac Hayes (chef) to quit the show as a consultation win for church.

In the credits, all the names are replaced with "John Smith" and "Jane Smith", supposedly to avoid being sued by Scientology 😂
Scientology really does believe that story about Xenu.

When people try to stop you from speaking and/or showing something it's normally because it's The Truth!
it was Mi3
War of the worlds was made by dreamworks not paramount.

I’m surprised Cartman wasn’t the reincarnation of L Ron Hubbard

This episode was the cause of the split between Isaac Hayes ( Chef) and South Park.
"Don't reggrett themm biefar, reggrett themm aftr."
oh, there is a lot of behind the scenes on this episode. This is a VERY controversial episode.

Dash Reacts is the biggest South Park reactor and doesn’t use that stupid screen filter buddy
Allows us to actually monetize the videos. Don't like it, don't watch. Simple 👍
@@ProjectSenpai he monetized his channel my guy, and I won’t watch. Too many snooty Brit’s on here already, lol 🖕🏻
I don’t think anyone is going to care that a random virgin NPC in the comments say he won’t watch our videos anymore 😂👋
@@ProjectSenpai just like you don’t care about brushing your teeth and learning how to say the word “aluminum”
Let more Muslims in your country 😂
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of South Park!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
R Kelly belongs in prison!
You guys should consider adding a short 1 minute outro/ short review at the end of the videos
Agreed, half the videos I don't have enough time to hit like before it ends (usually watch em on Apple TV)
