Thank you, randomly recommended small time content creator. I'm 26, I keep telling myself that I need to take risk and invest in stocks, gold, and the business I keep telling people I'm going to start even though I am taking minimal action. To the younger kiddos, one recommendation I have is if you're thinking about joining the military, research every job and just dive into it when you find one. I will either hear "I've thought about joining the Marines, but I don't wanna..." from people my generation, or I will hear "I wish I had joined the Marines, all my friends who did..." from folks in their 40s or 50s. I will say that I only joined because I was suicidal in high school, I wanted to die without having to do it myself, so my mom could bury me a hero rather than a victim. I was Infantry. I came out even stronger, I learned so much from being a leader, I learned so much from observing the bad ones, my confidence manifests itself without me even trying, and I have become free in so many ways that nobody else of my generation has been able to match to it. I still suffered from the emotional and mental damages of the military bureaucracy and isolation from the real world, but the experience gave me something I will never regret.
That was a very open and honest post! I do agree that the military can be a great option for those who are feeling lost. My dad served for 32 years, so I always had it on my radar but never joined. Looking back, it would have been an interesting life experience, but also I don’t regret the path I took. In terms the things you want to do but haven’t started yet, I would say just start small. For example, for stocks: Open a trading account. Then the next week, put in a small amount of money. UA-cam “how to buy a stock” and invest in something that is fairly safe out of the gate. I actually really liked using online trading simulators before I ever put my own money in the market.
