How To Catch Shallow Bass RIGHT NOW! Shad Spawn Fishing Tips!
Вставка

- Its time! The bass are shallow and you can catch them! There is a short window in Spring when shad are spawning and bass are aggressively chasing them, that you can catch a ton of fish with little to no effort. Don't miss your chance!
The shad spawn is an open door for bass fishermen to have a great day on the water. Forget the post-spawn blues, get up early, and catch a bunch of fish, and possibly a giant, all before breakfast! The key is using fast moving baits with a lot of flash or vibration to catch the bass' attention. At first light the shad will be spawning along shallow banks, grass, even docks, and the bass will be ready to ambush them. We use a variety of baits to quickly
Below you'll find links to the exact baits discussed in the video. We've included our favorite colors and sizes for each, along with any hook modifications we make. We've also included some of the rods and reels we use to fish these baits. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

It was cool how you indicated, using an arrow, the flash being reflected from the water’s surface with the spinnerbait.
Most of the places I fish are shallow. I LIVE for these kinds of videos!! I love fishing the shad spawn, the lakes around me are thriving with shad and the bites can definitely come fast and furious!
Its too much fun!!
i have an area that is shallow but has a lot of grass and gunk. does anybody know what bait to use in that? baits that i have been using often get covered in stuff.
@@asknoah796 A frog is one of the best things to fish in all the junk, you can literally throw them anywhere. You can also try pegging a soft plastic and punching thru it, soft plastics with less arms and things sticking out come thru the grass better. I'd grab a pack of horny toads and a hollow body frog and cast them right into the thickest junk you could find.
@@theoriginaltech019 thanks so much! i will try tomorrow (i live on lake)
@@asknoah796 That's awesome!! Good luck man hope you do great!! Keep at it till you figure them out. Tactical Bassin has videos on every technique you may want to try!!!
I came across spawning shade everywhere at the lake today. They were really shallow and really cool to see. Caught a few bass not knowing exactly the best bait to throw and then came home later to see this video up. Thank you, perfect timing!
i was the 600th like! love the videos i have been catching my bass on an 88 acre lake with a buzzbait!
"You can catch a pile of fish and be home by breakfast" That is 100% accurate!
I’m leaving Spain on Friday and I can’t wait to fish at home. It will definitely be worth the muddy walk into the lake.
“U wanna be rigged n ready for battle” love that phrase
I started bass fishing just over two years ago , I remember skunking for the first few months and thinking damn this is pretty hard . So May came Along and I headed over to a point that had a deep side and a shallow side and threw a spinnerbait and it was early , I caught my first few bass that day and came back the same time and place for a few weeks thinking I figured out bass fishing lol then when the bite died down in June I was so frustrated lol . Well I learned after the fact that the frenzy I experienced was a shad spawn bite , coming up on my second shad spawn time I’m so grateful for all I’ve learned thanks to your channel and a few others but you guys are California dudes like me so I’m bias to TacticalBassin
Been watching tactical bassin for several years now.. The information shared is incredible and absolutely works.. Best bass fishing you tube channel hands down.. Need to see another muskie video soon also!
I've been subscribed for 6 years and can't wait to see y'all pull out some giants from the Tennessee River on huddlestons, big swimbaits, ect. I live on lake guntersville so your transition to Chickamauga helps since the lakes are so similar.
I’m pretty certain you guys are some of the best fisherman in the country and I love that you are teaching the sport! What is the most universal trailer for chatterbait, spinnerbait, swim jig?
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge because it gives me confidence in going fishing just knowing what techniques I should try in order to hope for a successful trip. Please continue to share with us. Thanks
I think you’ve missed the window discussing sooooo many baits lol. Love it.
Thanks for the video thanks for all the great tips and lures to use
MAN, that “Mouse Grey” color on that Chatterbait looks EXACTLY like the Shad I see in Shasta all the time! Really cool video. I’ve only hit one of these events once by accident and it was lights out! I thought after about 1 1/2 hours of constant action I had a bleeder fish. Turns out, it was the skin on my thumb torn through from lipping 50 - 60 spotted bass! 😂 Loved the video Matt.
What if it’s more of a bluegill lake or pond? Will bluegill baits make a difference ?Will that work in the same matter ?
If its bluegill just throw bluegill baits but u can still catch em on shad type baits. I've even caught them on black n blue worms before.
Now that these guys are in TN they are giving the exact same info that everyone else does not helping us guys that don’t have a shad in our state
Totally agree, love the shad spawn! I think I mentioned this in a previous video but for my mini Max, the trailer I use is the reaction innovation shiver shot. It’s similar to the spunk shad, but more fluke style.
The uoze swimmer paired with a spark shad is the juice for this as well
Excellent tips! Thank you Matt!
Local small lake near me is shad central, and doesn't get much pressure from knowledgeable fisherman.
Middle of the city, and i can catch em on shad imitation year round.
They do have their patterns, which I've not entirely figured out... But I've seen em feeding on shad, in 3-7 feet of water, 4-20feet off the bank, a4 3-4 pm in the middle of the summer last year, and pulled out some nice size large mouth.
I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow morning.
I don’t have a shad spawn on my home water but substitute sunfish instead and I’m enjoying that pattern right now. I caught my new PB yesterday fishing a bluegill colored frog around the shallows not to mention probably more bites than I’ve gotten in one day for a LOOONG time.
I genuinely love you guys and the content that you produce. You have definitely been instrumental in my ability to successfully fish the tournaments that I am doing
Well I tried these techniques and lures this morning on a pond in South Florida. Nothing on the spinner bait but I did catch one a baby bass colored lipless crank bait and another on a leopard frog colored hula popper. Our pond mostly contains largemouth and peacock bass with some bluegill so these lures “matched the hatch” in terms of baby bass and baby peacock bass! Got out about 15 minutes before sunrise and the bite was off right after the sun hit over the horizon so I will have to get out a bit earlier next time 😉
I use a underspin, spinnerbait, chatterbait, rattletrap, crankbait, blade bait, swimbait to imitate shad during the spawn.
I've gotten about 60 bass in the past 3 days on a lipless, swimjig caught a few too. Frigging epic
what have your water temps been?
@@johnrogers4270 honestly I don't know, it's been a weird spring, 40 1 day then 85 the next. Guess we're just not going to have a spring this year.
Awesome video as always!
Thank you!
Totally agree thank you for everything
Just what i need to learn thankz tactical
I definitely added a new color and size to the arsenal this year. The shad spawn has been good for me.
Found tons and tons of shad but no bass activity? What do you think? I'm here in Arizona. Great video by the way!
It’s the most wonderful time of the yearrrr 🤙🔥
Yooooo that Half Mirror wakasaki OWNS!!!!
Loving these tips guys!!!!
Thanks!!
I love throwing vision a 110 jr. Plus1 shallow. Smallmouth can't seem to stand it banging off the rocks, and once I discovered the ichikawa kamakiri light trebles as replacement hooks, I never lose fish.
I've been smashing them on a Booyah hard knocker in chrome blue also a ton of bigger white bass
Is the 120 d walker too much for a no jack swim jig or should I be using the 100 d walker? Keep up the great content! Caught my PB because of y’all!
Great video. Awesome info thank you!!
are you going to do a night fishing video this year ? I like night fishing a buzz bait in the heat of summer , it's pretty hot here in south east N.C. already
I miss y'all's big bass vids 😭
Slowly been ordering some shad color baits. White / shad colors have been working lately even though where I fish there is no shad. ... what I’m finding is I have to keep it on the smaller size. 3”-3.75” max.
Great info just too bad for me that my fisheries doesn't have shad. Also they are still prespawn here.
Thank you, Matt!
I'm just happy to help. Good luck out there!
Can you guys post a video on how to use a baitcaster properly for beginners? I wouldn't mind Matt's Allen in depth way of explaining tbh.
I'm going to assume this will work well for us night fishermen correct? Say when twilight starts?
We don’t have shad but I am seeing a small bluegill hatch here in our ponds in South Florida. Does the same hold true?
our water is already in the 70s here in KY
I have a shallow water light grass lake that I fish could I use a 4 1/2 inch (three jointed hard) Swimbait in Bone to catch these fish?
The largo has the best action
Is there a bite like this for spawn when it comes to Northern Lakes baitfish? I’m in North Idaho and don’t have shad in lakes here. Mostly Bluegill, Perch and Crappie.
Great vid and vids! I learned a lot from you. I wonder if you could answer something that’s been bugging me and I can’t find the answer: I used to live in cal where there’s big bass everywhere now I live east coast in New England and the bass don’t get as big I can’t find an answer why I mean I’ve caught some fives but even the records around here are eight or maybe ten is it a different strain that doesn’t grow as big or just harder to find?
You're fishing for Northern Strain largemouth. Different strain altogether but also a shorter growing season.
@@tacticalbassin thanks!
Excellent video Matt! I am going to try these applications down here in Florida! I don't know if the shad spawn is going on here or not, water temps are in the mid 70s right now, I'm still gonna try these out though! Thanks for the awesome info! Tight lines y'all! 🙌🎣💪
#1tacticalbassinfan
So insane to see them blowing up on a huge shad ball
Will this work if my lakes don’t have shad
Would you be able to do a video on the Bluegill Spawn? Or others spawning baitfish in fisheries without shad? Thanks!
We covered some of that in last week's Bluegill swimbait video 👍🏼
@@tacticalbassin thank you so much!
JUICE!
Caught a nice 7 pounder last week in less than a foot of water. The wake looked like a dolphin coming for my chatterbait
good morning everyone.
Good morning
Good morning!
Got my first of the season with the Rapala subwalker. He tried to short nip it, but those hooks said, Nope!
Anyone tried the 4 blade booyah spinnerbait? Seems like that would standout within a school of shad...another underrated bait that's budget friendly during the shad spawn...Live Target gizzard shad swimbait..boil the tail 30 seconds...great bait that looks just like a shad!
🔥🔥🔥
Anyone know what net that is at 3:21? I know its frabill
Do you find that shad tend to spawn in coves/creeks or more main lake?
Watts bar is my home lake. Chic is my secondary.
You guys talk like the Canadian border is at the top of North Carolina.60 degrees water temps here in PA and the spawn is just getting ready to start
Sounds like the bugs are spawning too 😄
👍👍
BTW, those “bugs” are male cricket frogs announcing their presence 5:25.
Bill Lewis Rattle Trap bleeding shad, black back.
No fluke during the shad spawn?
Fluke is a great bait later in the day as the shad spawn wears down and you need fish to react. It's not my first choice in the morning because it has less drawing power/covers less water than the others.
Do you know where people get paper maps from
Check out Hot Spots maps. Walmart and other big box stores used to carry them, don't know if they still do. Some bait and tackle stores used to carry them. I'd bet u can get them on-line. We used them for years and found them very helpful.
These are the maps we grew up using. bit.ly/2QXY5gt They're waterproof and convenient to carry. I still have these for all my local lakes despite having great mapping on the boats.
I'm in the beginning stages of the bass spawn unfortunately
Same here I'm in Northeast Ohio bass are just starting to cruise around.
Unfortunately the lakeside fish don't have shad
Very helpful. Mouse rat lol
It's funny, I used these baits yesterday and didn't get a bite.
The lakes I fish don't have shad...
like the Ukrainians, knocking em just like pro's
the terms "shad spawn" & "pattern" are some of the most overused, overrated sayings in all of bass fishing
Except in this situation when we're describing the actual shad spawn and how to take advantage of it, rather than casually referring to any shallow bass caught during the late Spring as being caught on the "shad spawn".
