I was really happy when the 9ers took Trey. But the more you look at these plays, the more you realize that his success in college came from being a QB who probably coulda played at schools like UTEP, Ball State, or Rice, but decided to play “JV” in FCS/D2 because the game is much slower, and you have a great opportunity to pad your stats. The level of competition is severely diminished in D2 (not saying that inherently means that all D2 QB’s are trash). It’s actually a really good idea though. It’s marketing and sales. I like Justin fields a lot but trey lance seems like the total package and best fit for us at # 3
As far as Ohio State Quarterbacks go, there isn't one that has been successful since, well I can't name one
I don’t want Fields because Ohio doesn’t have any good QB and I see more potiental in Lance then Fields tbh
@@_.carrlosss I never understood that argument. He was the best qb in his class, he could’ve went to any school in the nation. The school doesn’t matter
@@JDMatthias that argument is dumb because texas tech never had a good qb before mahomes. we can't judge fields on past qbs.
He found out quick and the hard way that he can’t do what he did against Missouri Valley teams and have the same success in the NFL. We saw that near exact run for a TD in this first play in the NFL and he was stopped dead in his tracks, short of the goal line by a defensive back.
It was actually two LBs 😂
@@nasonifaleofa752 it was actually one but you’re right. All these damn numbers now are throwing me off but it was Simmons. The second linebacker was there just after he was stopped
Longtime 49er fan here. Looks good. Next level, will test his reading defenses, going through the progressions, throwing on the run against 4.7-280 linemen, and feet quickness. He has the combine numbers, but heart is the real test. He should have all of the above. Excited to see him play.
Had to come back to this, “highest ceiling ?” Yeah we were all fooled with this kid
WELCOME TO THE NINERS BRO🤟🏾
He’s genuinely athletic, a powerful runner, and he’s got arm is strong and accurate enough for the NFL. But watching his tape some of his receivers are wideee open and his running lanes are too. He’s mobile in and around the pocket, doesn’t always look to run and has great football instincts. Reminds me of Kaepernick
"doesn’t always look to run" freakin LOLOLOL!!! That's what he does dummy!!! He's a BUST!!!!
the jets passing on this guy will live forever in infamy
so good to have you back my friend. good luck this sesason

Welcome to Dallas Trey hope you learn and develop to be a great QB
🤣
@@darkknightniner9862 you’re the team that gave all those first round picks for him lmao Dumb ass mfs 😂
great athlete, strong arm, but none of these highlights show him going through a progression in a pocket, which is critical in the NFL
that’s literally one of his strengths 😂
@@markkim5988 It does not show that on his highlights at all !
He never was pressured like a NFL QB would and running more than 5 times a game is not how to succeed and survive in the NFL !
5:32 hmmm
It definitely shows in quite a few of these plays... a lot of the deep balls are 3rd or 4th progression
@@Lifeofalexp1 yep... it's clear this guy didn't watch the video and make a fair assessment. see 7:17, 7:47 as well. a number of these he also goes thru progressions and then decides to run as it's the best option.
49ers coming to get this guy :)

Niners still won’t win their division
They have to beat cardinals Seahawks Nd the Rams Nd Green Bay. I don’t see this kid going point for point touchdowns with kyler Murray Aaron Rogers Matt stafford or Russell Wilson
The Packers aren’t on their division, wtf lol. Conference yes. So what, they beat the shit out of all those teams when they were healthy in 2019. They only lost to the Shehawks once in a very close game.
@@cozierfinessgod5901 I see it all day! This man is gonna be Kyler on Steiroids my man. The niners have craaazy weapons surrounding this young man too! As long as he keeps developing he is gonna be a BEAST
The 3rd pick playing 3rd string after 3 years…crazy
And they say Mac Jones had wide open receivers lol
Everyone needs to chill on the Trey Lance talk . The guy played high school level teams through one good season with the only powerhouse program in the conference. He should not be in this draft class no matter how good anyone thinks he can be . I was as excited to see what Lance would do after his freshman season with 0 ints but his film shows a QB who is miles behind NFL standards and who needed to stay in school and finish developing himself before he made this jump .
@@jesusoftheapes “High school level teams” really dude? This is still D-1 football, only the best of the best of the best play and the best OF the best of the best play I’m the NFL. There’s plenty of NFL players currently and who will be in the NFL in the future that are from FCS programs. Is his team more talented and better coached than the rest? Yes, just like Bama and the rest of CFB. Doesn’t mean the other teams are “high school level” jeez the ignorance...
@@jesusoftheapes he's much closer to NFL ready than you think. He was asked to make all of the line protection calls, and has elite traits that can bail him out early on in his career. If he goes to Carolina or San Francisco and sits for a year or two and learns, then he could work. He's a risk because his offense so SO far from NFL reality, but there is plenty reason for him to go to the NFL this year.
@@youngboyxaj6692 yea but the talent disparity isn’t as bad in FBS. NFL maybe 10% FCS. Don’t act like you’re not aware. To be honest, this is nowhere near as impressive as Lamar Jackson’s reel who won the Heisman and barely made 1st round.
Running QBs have a lot of wide open recievers usually cause the defense is honest and has to watch out for the run a lot
Every throw is “wide open”. I really want to see his precision.
I agree some more tough dots 💯% I suggest going to watch his interview and Justin’s and compare mentality that means more than people thinks
Pretty pathetic competition but he does throw a nice deep pass.
The film is on UA-cam. Makes impressive throws that his receivers don’t catch. And the only time they get open is schemed up. Most of the WRs&TEs aren’t playmakers
How about 5 seconds into this???
Says more about the opposing defense than his skills.
Congrats to all the Niner fans who predicted Lance cause I was wanting Fields the most but I am pumped asf
Same! He's going to be so great for the 49ers and in the NFL in general. Natural talent
Should’ve got fields 😢
@@PerfectRedeemer to be honest yeah
It also doesn't hurt the 49ers have the top leaders in YARD AFTER CATCH (YAC) with Kittle, Aiyuk, & Deebo Samuel. I do think they need a 3rd option WR to fill that Kendrick Bourne roll or 2nd option TE like draft prospect Kyle Pitts.
My biggest worry about Lance is he also reminds me a lot of Kaepernick (The good & the bad).
49ers fan here. I don’t know what to make of this. Yeah he looks good but most of the time it’s a clean pocket and he playing against defenders that look like they are jogging. He won’t see that in the NFC West.
49ers should just play it safe and draft Fields.

Did he change his throwing motion once he got to the NFL? His mechanics and throwing motion look better early on in college than they do now in the pros.
Most of these are after he chipped his index finger it never healed properly and he had too change his throwing motion
Absolute Bust
Come on Kyle, draft him!! Don't make that same damn mistake you did in 2017.
Idk what people are saying but he seems like a starter to me 🤷♂️ he’s not afraid to run into defenders without a doubt and he’s an excellent runner. This guy seems like a fit for the 49ers scheme but definitely not the bears...
I wish, but Kyle never develops Qbs.
Niners just traded up to #3. I think he might be our guy 👀
Yeah. But look at the schools he played. They’re all weak. Justin fields went against tougher schools and produced more.
If zach wilson is available you get zach..
@@mikeysanchez1231 they traded up for 3 they might get Trey Lance
Any Cowboys fans watching this tape now that Trey Lance has been traded?
🤚
Before his 1st start there was a guy who had transferred from Iowa State at QB and I heard that Lance was starting instead of him and wondered why he was starting instead of the transfer, but after the game I could see how great of a player he was so I knew how great the team was then.
The irony
This guy would be a dream come true in shanahan offense. Let’s go niners baby wooooo!!!!!
King Holmvik it's really only two years of first round picks they won't have, and if you've paid attention to their past draft picks, they have a better success rate in the 4th and 5th rounds
More like a nightmare. 🤣🤣🤣

Just so long as Trey has fun playing football. It is a game.
The most impressive thing to me is the td to int ratio yeah he can run but he makes good decisions with the football and that's going to be big in the nfl.

congrats niner fans! coming from a cowboys fans i hope him & dak have some great duels in the future to revamp the rivalry!
He’s been one of the bigger draft busts of the last 20 years, but those college stats were his selling point, so he’s financially set for life. Can’t knock it… but definitely hoped for me outta him. Oh well… ya win some, ya lose some. 🤷🏾♂️
I'm a 49ers fan but those TDs are vs college football teams defense in the NFL is different but hope he does good
This play style not gonna last him in nfl especially when there are people like Bobby Wagner and jalen Ramesy and Khalil Mack and can actually tackle
Edit: I’m a niner fan and all I have to say is, he better change his scrambling style, he runs into danger too much like I said, I’m guessing Kyle is gonna develop him and make him a pocket passer more 🙏
Sounds a lot like what they said about Lamar Jackson
I don't disagree with you, but you also gotta consider that teams look at the player's traits more than their competition. If they think he can fit in their system then thats what they'll go with
@@Samuel2oh9 no since Lamar never really broke tackles and this dude runs into danger and breaks tackles left and right like bruh that’s not gonna last in nfl

@@ImranAli619. I honestly see no issues with his scrambling. A lot teams rely on QBs to be dual threat now a days especially against teams with a good pass rush so he should keep his running style. Still needs to prove himself as a passer to establish himself as a QB

He gives me Russ and Kyler vibes and now is in the same division this season might be fun
