I am proud Sindhi living in Dubai where i meet so many Sindhis from India also and we connect rightaway. Btw welcome back to you both. Peace. 🙏 and there is Sindhi Movie also Umer marvi and songs of that movie werw written by my maternal father Rashid Ahmed Lashari. He was a poet wrote for too many movies and wrote books as well.

indus valley civilisation dates back to 7000 BCE. The core of it is still maintained in Sindh Pakistan. After the partition major chunk of Sindh was allocated to Pakistan. Their culture is very resilient and they are the most kind hearted people in the country.Sindhis who moved to India lost track of their culture, clothing , language, traditions. iTs high time for all sindhis to connect back to their roots
I’m not ethnically Sindhi but was born in a town that’s part of Tharparkar district. I grew up with these cultural symbols all around me, visited Umarkot and the Thar desert as a little child. We use Sindhi rillis at home and have worn pieces of Sindhi jewellery. I’ve met members of the community to which Marvi and Sahiban belong, been inside their mud homes built on our family lands.
Needless to say this is a very nostalgic song for me even as a non Sindhi, and an even more emotional BTS because it depicts a part of my home.
In Pakistan elements of Sindhi culture are popular beyond the province of Sindh, like Sindhi topis and ajraks (often worn by Abida Parveen). Btw..I’m not sure you know this but Abida ji is also Sindhi and from the ancient city of Larkana mentioned in the song and which is also the ancestral seat of the Bhutto family. It’s is also the site of the ancient city of Mohen jo daro, which belongs to the Indus Valley Civilization.
I’m from Sukkur sindh and had to leave very early due to lack of opportunities. Moved at a very young age of 15 and now in working in Italy.
I cant express my emotions. Its like a part of me was lost my language my culture. Seeing it going global today seeing my iconic sukkur bridge on a coke studio video, cant stop me having tears in my eyes.
Loved when everytime Xulfi referred sindh as “hamara sindh” which never happens, Sindh and its cultute isnt recognized as such which always made me sad. Seeing this is making me proud of my roots if anything.
I’d just say:
“Haren sij nikto ayen undhaye wayi hali” (now sun is rising on sindh and darkness is gone) :)

Well Jyoti, I am from Sindh, Pakistan and yes there is a specific word for that situation you just expressed when you are seeing iff someone but you want to see him or her again and that you do not want to say good bye also 😊 and that expression do exist in this wonderful language Sindhi... when we see off someone and having those feelings you expressed, we say "moklaani kaanhay"... meaning "we are not saying goodbye"...because we will meet again 😊😊

The culture of Sindh valley is almost 4000 Year old. And this song is only contain not more than 1 or 2 percent of whole culture.
Being a Karachite which is the capital of sindh .. I got chances to visit small villages in sindh.. and TBH every time you go there you feel you are in a place very time stops and they are true to their culture.. and sindh is the hold land for Hindus there are many cities in sindh which are only Hindu cities .. I truly feel when jyoti says how much Sindhi around the world would feel when they listen this song…

Sindh is one part of the Thar desert and Rajasthan is the other part. Imo, every resident of Thar desert can relate to it. Sindhi and Marwari languages are spoken there and the culture is same too.
Lower Sindh , Gujrat with Kutch and upper Sindh and Rajasthan culturally Same.......Languages are also inter-related
And Jazbaat with Jyoti is back. I have sindhi friends, I'm sure they're feeling a real connect with this song.

Sindh is only province in Pakistan who's official Language and early School Language is in Sindhi , only Language in Pakistan have its own Script.. Pakistan's National Database auth issued national Cards in Sindhi also...... Being Sindhi that is proud moment for me .. thanks to Coke Studio and The singing team.. Thank you

The story is based on a folktale from Sindh, Pakistan, called "Umar Marvi." It revolves around a village girl named Marvi, belonging to the Phanwar tribe, who resists the advances of a powerful king named Umar and the allure of living in the palace as his queen. Instead, she chooses to remain in her simple rural environment, staying true to her village.
King Umar was deeply in love with Marvi due to her exceptional beauty. However, he forcefully took her and desired to marry her. He imprisoned her in his castle called Umerkot in Sindh. Marvi, being a woman of great integrity and honor, refused the king's offer, even though he promised to grant her every desire. She steadfastly denied everything and even went on a hunger strike while locked up. She declared that she would rather die than be disloyal.
Ultimately, the king had to give in to her unwavering loyalty. He released her and respectfully sent her back to her village, where she was hailed as a heroine. This remarkable story is depicted in the song "Aayi Aayi," where Marvi finally enjoy a simple meal at home. The peacock in the song symbolizes this act, while the dolphins represent the majestic Indus River (Sindh).

Then King forcefully kidnapped her wanted to see her desicion change for him After a Long Time he didn't see any attention or attraction for him From Marvi then He realize She can die But she Will not be part of his Life Hence King release her to her village when she came to her tribe Her people's still waiting For her come back when they saw marvi After that her people's sing these lines For her (Aayi Aayi) and that was the happiest movement For them.
